Chapter 4: Floating is not possible

Birthdays.

The day where most if not all family and friends gather together to indulge in a celebration made for you to feel significant and optimistic about the day you were born. It was a glorious time of year practically everyone adored, when the day came around for them.

Except one teenage boy. He- ironically -of all people actually despised his birthday with every inch of his soul. What is the point in having a celebration dedicating to or merely being joyful about, when it was the day his parents abandoned him?

He laid down on his bed with his face planted onto his grey fluffy pillows. His hair was dirty blonde, short, messy and sometimes fell over his eyes due to his bangs. His eyes were a remarkably rare color of silver as though they were grey precious diamonds. Compared to most boys around his age he was fairly skinny. As for structure, he definitely was not muscular but was also not frail either; he was remotely average. He currently was wearing beige shorts that fell to around his knees and a yellow shirt that was slightly larger than it should be.

Despite the gloomy atmosphere the boy displayed with his once in a year depressed attitude, the setting of the day was genuinely appealing to that of the eyes. The sun shined its delightful rays of blazing sunlight through the window and because his room was so clean, everything seemed to scintillate brightly. The sky was clear blue without any clouds present. And the birds chirped their wondrous songs loudly from within the trees in which they dwell in. The boy attempted to sleep throughout the day until it was over.

As he began to shut his eyes, he saw the white door that was there to enter his room swing open, rendering his eyes to stay wide open. He watched as Cate perambulate into his room. In her left hand she held a small white cake with yellow icing that spelled out his name, Camden. Whereas in her mouth she blew a yellow party blower. "Haaappy Biiirthdaaay, Caaamdy!!" she sang, throwing glitter everywhere with one free hand.

If it was not obvious yet, Cate was Camden's older sister. She had short blonde hair that fell just above her shoulders but unlike Camden, her eyes weren't silver. Instead they were a boring light blue. She stood at around 5'8 which- for the moment -placed her around the same height as Camden and she is relatively busty compared to most average girls. She wore a white shirt accompanied by a light blue thin jacket with black shorts and blue heels. She was twenty years old.

"Don't call me Camdy," he muttered into his pillow. He shifted his head to the opposite side, attempting to avoid looking towards her. Unfortunately, his eyes came face to face with the window that was emitted blinding bright lights onto his face. He hiss. It was as though he just ascended from the depths of hell and this was his first time seeing the light. 'Oh shoot it burns! It burns!' He thought.

Cate spat out the party blower onto the wooden floor. "Hah! You wish like I'd ever stop tormenting you with that nickname" she laughed. She then set the cake down on his black desk and took a seat on his bed, remotely sinking it in. "Okay so since its you're birthday, I got you a two person trip to Florida. Cool Right?"

"Why a two person trip?" Camden asked genuine confused on why she would buy him something meant for two people."Who do you expect me to take?"

"Well. Since I'm all you got now. I think you should take me in honor of being your beloved sister who let you live in her wondrous environment." She explain.

Yes. Cate did indeed offer for Camden to live with her after she learned that their parents left him for seemingly unknown reasons. What else was she to do? It's not like she could let her little brother roam around on the streets! He would be like a lost scared little puppy if that were to happened. Fortunately for Camden, she had a two bedroom house, her income was manageable and she was legally allowed to become his guardian.

"You planned this, didn't you?" Camden replied, becoming aware of what she actually wanted to do.

"Of course I did!" Cate answered. "Camden you don't understand. I am young and lonely. I wanna meet new people besides my annoying workmates. Plus the people here, they mistake me for your mother! I can't handle it anymore. I have to get away even if it is only for one week!"

Camden wanted to laugh and make a joke about his older sister's complaining but he didn't. He couldn't allow himself to get happy. Not today! "Just leave me alone, I want to be depressed and broken right now," Camden replied glumly.

Cate looked at her brother who was appeared as though he was half dead. She then got up from his bed and grabbed his left arm. Attempting with all her strength to haul him off. But Camden held onto the bottom of his bed with his right hand to deter her from doing so.

"Aww come on Camdy, You're usually so humorous! And energetic! And fun! What's gotten into you!?" She asks. She then released the grasp she had on his arm, watching as it flop back onto the bed.

"Okay fine. Be like that. But I ordered some pizza and if you don't come down, I am eating it all and letting you starve," she said and march out of his room.

Camden laid there for about another fifteen minutes, before he forced himself to roll off his bed. Which was exclusively because he knew his sister would actually eat all the food. And since no one could cook in the house, it would be stupid to stay in his room all day.

Camden walks down stairs and into the kitchen. He see's the box of pizza sitting on the counter and opens it. Observing how Cate has already ate half of the pizza inside. "What the-- SHE ALREADY ATE HALF OF IT. IT'S ONLY BEEN FIFTEEN MINUTES!!" Camden yelled.  How could she be so cruel, leaving me only a few slices. He whined within his thoughts. He then sighs and opens the nearby wooden cabinet built over the sink; inside held glass plates, cups, etc.

He reaches for one of glass plates inside. As he extends his arm to grab the plate, the plate flies out of the cabinet and hits the white wall behind him. "Wha-what the?!?!" he stuttered. More plates began to fly out of the cabinet.

Cate rushes down the stairs, her heels clicking loudly with each step. She ran into the kitchen, a slice of pizza could be noticeable seen, hanging out of her mouth. "Whats...going on....I heard crashes," she says in between chews with concern laced in her voice. She turns her head to her brother, who appeared to be shocked. She then turns her eyes to where his were staring at: broken plates everywhere. "MY PLATES!!" she yelled, "Did you do this?!"

"I--uh......er.....um-"

"-You know what, it's alright, I have paper plates," she reassures herself. "But its not good to relief anger by being destructive and-- OH MY GOSH NOW I'M STARTING TO SOUND LIKE A MOM!"

Cate twitches slightly. Her stomach felt queasy as though she wanted to throw up, "I think I just died a little," she looks back at her brother, who was now looking at her strangely; she recomposes herself. "Er...um...Don't break my plates!!" she grabs more pizza and leaves again.

Camden regains focus. "Okay........this is weird. Plates don't fly out of cabinets by themselves, or maybe they do and I just haven't realized it yet." he spoke aloud to himself, "but it doesn't matter I guess." He tries to shrug off the feeling.

Just after he began to feel slightly sane, Camden felt himself be lifted off the ground. He was floating! He tried to grab onto the counter to pull him down but that didn't work. "Okay this is cool and all but what is going on!?"

Cate heard another bang sound. However this time, the sound hit her upstairs floor. She stomped back down stairs, expecting to she something else broken. Instead she found her brother pressed against the ceiling.

"What the hell are you doing up there!" she yelled. "Wait a minute. How the hell are you even up there!?!?!"

"I'm supposedly floating obviously. Which is cool! HOW? I don't know and that's kind of scaring me!"

"Hmmm. So on my birthday I get twenty five dollar gift cards but on yours you get to fly!! That is so unfair"

"THAT'S WHAT YOU'RE THINKING ABOUT!?!?"

"You're right. I should call a cop.....or a scientist.....or a doctor?.........uh.......ugh.....what am I supposed to do about a flying child!!"

"Hey, I am not a child!!"

"Really? You always act like one."

"Look who's talking."

"Shut up airhead."

Cate starts searching around for a phone but then realizes, "Wait a sec, Camdy no one is going to believe that you are floating on the ceiling."

"Oh yeah you're right, maybe just lie or something, I don't know," He suggests, "And stop calling me Camdy that nickname is outdated."

"Meh I don't care," she shrugs. She then grabs one of wooden chairs that were usually placed around the dining table. She got onto it and pinched Camden's cheek.

"Ugh," Camden muttered, crossing his arms then pouted.

"See! Child!" Cate exclaims, referring to his little pout.

The two strange siblings hear the doorbell ring from afar. Cate rushes to open it. As the door swings open she spots two very tall guys, very muscular guys in tuxes standing outside right before her eyes.. Cate scans down the two guy. She raises her eyebrow, wondering if these two men were possibly at the wrong house.

"Yes?" She answers in her most formal voice.

"We are part of the G.O.T.E Government Society and we're here to pick up your little brother." one of the two guys explain in a low yet firm voice.
