LAURA

"Can I ask you a question?" I shift under the foamy water inside the tub as I ask Kai.

There's something about him that isn't clear. Everything about him isn't but there's one thing I can't figure out. Ever since I touched him and felt his emotions, I've been connected to him in no way I've been connected to anyone not even Azra, and Azra is part me. I try to fight it. I try to fight him every time he tells me what to do but I can't. It's like he has me under a compulsion or spell. And I'm curious about him. About Earth. I gathered as much as I could while meditating and looking through the planet from different minds.

"Sure, what's up?" He answers without turning to look at me. He's been like this since I asked him to help me shower because I'm not familiar with the bathing system on this planet. On Di Hipsodat, I clean myself in a river and it's far more comforting than this hole I'm in.

He helped me set up the bath and wouldn't look at me. I think it's because I'm naked.

"Why won't you look at me?"

His tense up, I can see from this place. I don't have to read his mind to know he wasn't expecting that.

"You're naked, Laura and I shouldn't even be here."

I knew it. I knew it's because I'm naked. Also, Kai is the only person that calls me Laura and gets away with it.

"Why though?"

"It's not right. We're not intimate. I can't just be staring at your naked body, it's inappropriate." He tells me.

"Why?"

"Because–fuck!" He uncrosses his hands and drops it by his side. "You are not my girlfriend or wife or anything!"

"Why does it feels like you're frustrated, Kai? I just asked a question." I huff and listen to his mind, the words he doesn't want to speak out. "You want to know about how we mate on Di Hipsodat?"

He shakes his head. "I told you stop listening to my thought without my permission."

"Well, do you?"

He shrugs. "Whatever, tell me."

"Mating on Di Hipsodat is very simple, not stressful at all. You pick your mate during the Knife festival and press your forehead with your mate. It's as simple as that." I tell him. "But if you want more details I can go further."

"No I think I'm good. Knife festival? I read about it last night but I didn't know you choose your mate from it. So you just touch your forehead with each other and that's it?" He asks to confirm.

"Yeah."

"Where is the pleasure in that? How does that gives pleasure?"

"It's not about the pleasure the main reason for mating in Di Hipsodat is to reproduce."

He nods and clears his throat before asking. "Have you even mates with anyone?"

"No, I don't like to be touched." I've never participated in the Knife Festival and the only reason I'm present is because my father always attends and I'm always there to guard him.

"You weren't lying when you said nobody has ever touched you." In a way that doesn't sound that he says it.

"I told you that I don't lie."

A moment pass before Kai speaks again. "It's different here on Earth."

"I know." I learned all about mating on Earth, it's very physical and different from Di Hipsodat.

"What about where you came from, can you tell me about the place?"

"I'm not from anywhere, you must know that my sister and I were created by Ma'Lya."

That's why Kaia thought she was superior because of their creator.

"Ma'Lya as in The Mesdowellian scientist that's in hiding."

"That's her, do you know her?"

"Not personally just heard stories of her. You must be older than me."

"I am."

"Her whereabouts?"

He shrugs and walk towards the door to grab the robe hanging behind the door. "I don't know, come, let's get going before you spend the whole day in this tub."

"Where are we going?" I ask and I stand up and bring the shower head to wash the soap off my body.

"I have to go to bank and then we'll go sightseeing."

We arrive at the bank. Kai instructs me to wait while he goes to meet one of the women at the counter, not long before that the door burst opens and three guys covering their faces with weird masks comes rushing in with guns.
      
"Everybody get down!" They order and direct the gun up and start firing. People scream and obeys, getting down.

This reminds of one of the endless, meaningless protest the Darians have on Di Hipsodat. It's very exhausting, having to do everlasting damages to everyone of them. Personally I find this very sad for them because there's no way there are leaving this place alive. I will make sure of it.
     
While every other person goes down and cover their heads in fear, I look around for Kai to see kneeling as well. What is he doing? He told me it's his job to protect this planet from danger and menace but he's kneeling when he could have stopped this already. "Laura, get down!" He whispers but I hear him.

"I fight for justice. I don't hide or go down like a coward." I reply to him loudly, not give a fuck about the men that wants to rub the bank.

I get their attention as one of them approaches me, pointing his guns at me. "You got a death wish girl?"
 
I face the remaining two. "It's rude to barge into a place that you don't own and order everyone down. You have ten seconds to leave." I threaten them. I hope they don't, it's been long since I've killed anything.
    
The gang exchange glance and burst into a fit of laughter.  "Or what?" One of them asks.

I'm glad they chose death. It appears it's not only on Di Hipsodat that the man are favored more than the women. I don't have to read their minds to know they underestimate me because I look like a human woman.

So I show them I don't make empty threat. I tilt my head for them to see the change in color of my eyes. All black. "Or I'm gonna kill you without hesitation."

They cock their guns and shoot at me all at the same time, making the people on the floor scream. "You just chose death and I'm going to do it quick." I tell them when they've exhausted their bullets.

I move at a high speed and pass the three. When I stop, I'm clutching of their heart. Everyone let out and inhuman scream before they begin to rush out of the place. Ungrateful bunch. I look back to see Kai staring at their bodies with his lips parted.

Why are they scared? And why does Kai look angry?

I didn't do anything wrong. I ripped one of their hearts out. I removed the other spinal cord and the last was left beheaded, his head is still spinning from the ground probably from when people rush out.

"Kai?"

He doesn't look at me as he approaches me. He stops in front of me and grab my hand, dragging me out of the building. We keep walking until we get to the middle of a street and Kai yank me forward. I meet his eyes to see him glaring at me.

"Why the fuck did you do that?!" He demands in an angry tone. I looked into his past since he got on Earth and I've never seen him this pissed.

"What? I didn't do anything wrong." I don't get why he's angry. If anything, he should thanking me. I saved lives and money by eradicating those lesser beings.
        
"What? Seriously? You killed those men without breaking a sweat. You fucking killed those men with flinching. It happened within a blink of an eye. What the fuck is wrong with you?!"

I don't like the way Kai is speaking to me. The evil inside me hates it more. "Watch your tongue if you don't want to suffer the same loss as those men." I warn as my eyes goes black again.
       
He chuckles with no humor. "Threats again. I thought we were getting somewhere. I fucking thought we were getting somewhere. Listen, Lurytendra or whatever you are named, I don't care if you are a badass assassin in Di Hipsodat, but you are on Earth, and here we don't go around killing people!" He replies, his hands flying out to prove his point.
       
"You don't kill people but I do. It's my job as an executioner. Those people fired the gun first." It's a reason because I already made up my mind about killing them if they fired or not. I just want Kai to see from my point of view.
       
He scoffs. "That's your excuse? You threatened them like you always do. t
They wouldn't have shot at you if you had just lessen the pride and did as you were told."

I cannot believe this. Kai is speaking to me about pride. "You are talking like you know me!" I sneer.
          
"I think I know enough."
         
My eyes change to full black making Kai to move back. "You don't know me, you haven't seen anything like me." After uttering, my eyes changes to normal.
        
He swallows hard. He is afraid. Good. "All I'm saying is that, people were there when you killed them even though it was fast the camera captured you, the cops will be on to you."
        
I nod my head.  "Let them come. I won't spare any of them."

"You can talk like that!"

"And why is that? I'm not the one with powers who isn't helping." I toss that at him.
        
He raises his brow like he can't believe his hearing. Welcome to the club. "Helping? you call killing three men in cold blood helping?"
        
"In cold blood? just listen to yourself Malakai Stark. Choose your next word wisely. I'm not afraid to use my power unlike you."
        
"You want to know why I don't use my power to save people?"

If he asked this under a different circumstances, I would have love to hear him out but now I'm just too angry with him to listen to anything he has to say.
         
"Keep it to yourself I don't care. You should be thanking your stars I didn't kill you." I can't kill Kai even after everything, I can't. So I make it sound like I pardon him.
       
I walk past him and head towards nowhere in particular. I don't know anywhere on Earth. I don't even know the direction to Kai's house because he teleported us yesterday and today we took his car.

"Where the hell are you going?" I hear him ask behind me. I don't answer. "Laura, where are you going? Come back here now!" He shout.
     
I don't answer him.
     
"You don't even know anywhere on Earth!"

That, I need to reply. "I will find my way!" I turn my head briefly to reply him.
     
"Come back you idiot, where do you know?"

That anger me. I turn back and throw a dagger at him and just when it about to impale his heart, I call it back. It's a silent warning that I can kill him if I want. He might have lived a thousands lives but my Elsword will kill him.

"Are you insane? ,You trying to kill me!" He yells

"The next one goes to your heart, watch your language around me!" I warn, communicated with him telepathically.
