LAURA
I like living on Earth. It's so different here. Nobody cares who I am and people of this planet don't really believe in aliens. I once bumped into a guy on my way to meet Kai at the mall and I voiced out his thoughts. He asked how I knew what he was thinking about and I explained where I come from and my powers. He laughed and called me psycho. I saw Kai and told him about my encounter with the rude earthling. Kai made me understand that I can't force people to believe me. All humans are annoying, so I don't bother with them.
Kai has showed me a part of myself that I never knew existed, the good part. I once killed a bunch of protesters on Di Hipsodat for just mentioning my real name: Lurytendra. I'm bad like that but he showed me that there's more to me than just the weapon. I'm still me, El-Laura-El El-Sah-El Di Hipsodat but to him I'm simply Laura, and as much as I hate being called that name, I've come to tolerate hearing it.
If I had a list of things to do on Earth, there won't be anything left because Kai has done everything. I've never thought about my life and what my future will be like, I've always thought I'll die doing what I do best, destroying lives and worlds but Kai made me hope for more. I never thought I would have ever mate with anyone, nevertheless a Mesdowellian Spirit because that's what Kai is, a spirit created by a mad scientist.
I almost forgot what my life was like before I arrived on Earth, and it hasn't been long at all, it's just been two months and I'm beginning to picture my life here. Kai would never go against his creator, but he's bound to me until our end, which is still far. If... If I the door to Di Hipsodat opens and I return, I will do what I have to do and come back because I don't think I can live without him.
Coming to the amusement park is Kai's idea after I challenged him. I thought we've done everything but he assured me that we haven't done anything. I asked him to show me and he brought me. I could have done with just him but he brought Zazie and Lee, I don't mind them but I just don't like hearing what they think of me. Although I notice something's changed with Lee, he's stronger and his mind is sharper. There's more to him than he's letting on. I think the feeling has always been there but I'm just noticing but whatever it is I know it wouldn't be a danger to Kai or me.
I tell Kai I'm going to the rest room and leave him after warning him not to follow me, because I know he would have followed me. We've become each other's shadow lately, always going where the other goes.
I don't know where the rest room is but I'm sure I can–
"El-Laura-El." The unfamiliar voice echoes through my mind in a whisper.
I stand straight with my fist on each side. What the hell? The person calling me is obviously from Di Hipsodat and anyone from Di Hipsodat means Riga.
"El-Laura-El." The voice calls again. I'm a telepath and I can find whoever it is calling me by following their link even if they stopped talking to me telepathically.
I leave the park and walk through the woods. I'm ready for anything especially if it's about Riga.
"Laura." I don't have to turn around to know who it is, I toss a dagger at the direction his voice calls from before facing him.
Riga is standing with five men and the first thing that catches my eyes is their choice of clothing. Riga is wearing the royal garb, a sacred outfit reserved for the Els of Di Hipsodat. My father was wearing one the last time I saw him. His men are putting on the uniform of the royal army. I'm the Commander of the whole Di Hipsodat army and I took it upon myself to one each and everyone of them, but these five are unfamiliar. They are Riga's men.
"You look different." Riga notices the change. And steps out of the darkness, it's night and the only light around us is from the moon, he was hiding under a tree but now he's out. "Is it weather or your poor choice in clothing?" He mocks and tosses my dagger back at me, I hold out my palm to accept the dagger, letting it go inside me.
"What are you doing here? Why are you wearing the royal garb? What did you do?" I demand.
"I am El but since we can't find your father, he is a coward that fled like a naive boy at the sound of my name. The rite can't be completed until your father is dead and I'm sure your father won't come out until I kill the one thing that matters to him...you." He points at me.
It's been two months since I've done this, the longest and it's stops today, right moment. I shake my head and the dress I'm wearing burns off, revealing my uniform. I roll my head, the bones cracking the process. I've missed this, being in my favorite outfit. I've also missed this feeling. I've spent too much time pretending to be something I'm not.
I watch Riga but he doesn't seem threatened, I know he isn't afraid, he has never been but the look on his face makes me wonder if this is part of his plan because he always has a plan. He smirks and raises his hands up, signaling to his men and for the second time I underestimated him again as chains comes from different side around me. The moment metals touch my skin, I groan and drop on the ground. The chains burn through my uniform and I've only felt like this once before. And the only thing I can think about is Malakai, he'll probably be looking for me and the last thing I want is for him to see me like this, so I do what I feel make sense.
"Listen to me very carefully to what I'm about to say, Malakai Stark. Take your friends and go. Riga found me." I warn him telepathically.
"Where are you?" His voice echoes back.
"Leave. Leave, now!" I order and hope he does as I say.
"Not so tough now, are you El-Sah-El?" His footsteps approaches until he stops in front of me. I'm on all four. I growl and move my hand to claw his leg, he takes steps back and one of his men pull the chain around my neck, others pulls the one on my hand, switching me to a kneeling position to my head falling back and my hand behind me. "I know you are invincible. I've thought. I've always wondered what your weakness was, I didn't stop looking, I knew you couldn't be that perfect, you have to have a weakness. So I had my mage do a research and I found what I've been looking for. I knew you are the only one that can stop me but for me to move forward I need to clip your wings starting from clipping your actual wing, your dragon."
I growl again, this time with my actual fangs.
He chuckles, looking like an Earth fictional villain that I've read and seen. "The chains are made from a dragon breath, yes, dragon's breath, your dragon's breath. And washed through the rain of Earth." He explains with a sadistic smile.
I move my hand and my body, thinking I can fight it but it's no us. They planned this well and I didn't see it come. "The more you resist the more painful it get." Riga offers my his hand, I can't see it very well because of the chain wrapped around my neck. "Come with me and I might make you my executioner."
I groan and begin to cough, the chain around my neck loosen, causing my head to fall forward, I see my blood dripping from my mouth.
"You are already bleeding, Laura-El. Don't make this hard than it already is. You of all people knows what will happen if you get too angry, it's better for everyone especially for the people of this planet that you keep your angry in."
I hate that he know so much about me. I hate that he knows what is likely to happen when I get too angry. I–
The familiar scent of his cologne pulls me out of my thought. I know he's near. "Kai, go back! Go back now!" I scream in his head, hoping he'll answer but it's too late. He's already here and they sense before seeing him.
"Well, well, well, what do we have here?"
"Kai no!" I scream when I see him approach. He looks confused at first but then his eyes meets mine, and they change to fury. He looks at Riga and charges at him. I have no doubt that Kai is strong and can destroy Riga but he told me he doesn't use his powers because his creator ordered him not to interfere unless it's a planet destroying threaten and I know this isn't. Riga wants me. Only me.
Before Kai can land a punch on Riga, he takes a step back and wraps his hand around his throat before dipping his hand into Kai's chest. "No!" I try to break out of the restraint but it's no use.
I know where Riga hand is and with the way Kai's straining, it's obviously around his human heart.
"You know what happens when I remove my hand." He speaks softly to me like his hand is not around Kai's heart. Riga looks at me and sees the way I'm struggling to break free, he undoubtedly knows what Kai means to me and he confirms it with his next words. "So much for being heartless. I thought you didn't care about anything, not even yourself but a human," he throws his head back and laugh. "This just keeps getting better and better."
"Let him go, Riga. Let him go now!" He nods and the next thing I feel is something impale me from behind. It's burns and I know it's from the same way they made the chains but something Riga forgot to tell them is that my blood is lethal. It's can't be seen by anyone not even...
"Kai! Kai, no, cover your eyes!"
All of Riga's men starts to drop dead, blood drain from their body, it's what happens when they see my blood. It has to do with my connection to the Golden Water.
Every single one of Riga's men is dead but not him, not Riga, he's still standing with his hand in Kai's chest but at least the chains are loosen all around me since those holding them are all dead.
"Let. Him. Go!" I grit out.
"Shouldn't you be surprised why your black blood didn't affect me?" He asks, ignoring my order.
"Riga. Let. Him. Go!" I repeat.
"You... You care for this human. You love this human?" He sounds like he can't believe what he's saying. I don't care, I just want him to let Kai go. "Fair enough." He mutters and removes his hand, Kai drops in the ground.
I manage to push the chains off me even though they burn like hell, I rush to Kai and hold his face in my hand. "Kai? Kai, are you okay?" I slap my hand on his cheek softly to make sure he's hearing me. "Kai?!"
"I'm good." He murmurs and opens his eyes, immediately his eyes connects with mine, he goes still.
"Kai? Kai, what's going on? Kai! Can you hear me? Kai–?" I cut myself off when the blood from my nose drops in his face. "No. No, no, no, no, no," I beg, cradling him in my arms. "No! This can't be happening. Kai, listen to me. Kai."
"It's too late, he's dead and you killed him. How does it feels, Laura-El? To be the killer of your beloved."
"Shut up! Shut up! He isn't dead. He can't be. He can't be." Kai's strong. He isn't human, he's–
His body is drained of blood. He looks like Riga's men.
"I love you, Laura. I know the real you. I've seen the real you. You are not a monster. You are most beautiful thing I've ever seen and I don't regret anything."
His voice echoes in my head and that's I know he isn't dead. His body is but his mind is still awake, I knew he can't be gone like that. I don't get to reply him as I feel something heavy hit my head and Kai pale skin is the last I see before everything becomes black. Before Riga sentences me to an eternity in my own version of hell.
