Chapter 0
The stadium was flooded with their loud claps and cheers. It was filled with amusement as well as doubt and envy. Elegant clothes welcomed my sight as I looked at the audience. They all came from prestigious companies around the globe, and I can say that their physical appearances are worth my praise. Hypocrites wore the shining pieces of jewelry that cost thousands of dollars in front of me. I know that behind their claps, they humiliate and secretly look for my mistake.
As the spotlight focused on me while I was standing on the stage, I couldn't help but look away from the immense light that struck my eyes. I could see my reflection on the perfectly polished tiles and see how much I'd changed compared to before.
I looked at the glass trophy held by my hand and read the title written with luminous gold ink.
Top Book Publishing Company Award
Chief Executive Officer, Junichiro Seikatsu
I am Junichiro Seikatsu, a 19-year-old man with an Intelligence Quotient of 300. A multilingual Japanese proto-nationalist citizen, that's why I prefer being called Junichiro Seikatsu done the other way around. I graduated from two courses in college at the age of 16 and I am often referred to as the world's youngest CEO.
I left early on the awarding ceremony. I almost vomit while talking to those hypocrites who masked their rotten core by expensive jewelries. Even my right-hand man can't stomach facing them, knowing that we knew how filthy they run their businesses.
I've been living in the Philippines ever since I was a child, but I am currently staying here in South Korea because of this award. I grew up in an orphanage because I don't have parents, obviously. Therefore, I regret not to talk about the details for now.
"Where are we heading next, CEO Ichiro?" Aiden asked, my right-hand man. He was a 185 cm tall guy, has pale white skin, pointed nose and pinkish lips pressed into thin line. Despite his looks, his body is well built. A clever 25-year-old man, graduated in Business Administration with general weighted average of 1.15. I don't usually based on credentials upon choosing my people, it's just that, his trustworthy enough so I accepted him as my assistant. His skills and intelligence are beyond perfect for a businessman, but I wonder why he stayed as my right-hand man instead of building his own company that I am sure can rival mine. I've been observing him for three years and I can say that I can give my full trust on him.
"Let's go straight to my accompany," I answered as I fasten my seatbelt and rest my head on the glass window.
"We will arrive soon, I'll wake you up once we arrive," Aiden assured while his eye was focused on the road. I just nod in response as I close my eyes.
I was like that for minutes until the car stopped. I opened my eyes and looked at what happened.
"Nakabangga ata ako?" Aiden answered, perplexed.
"What? Labas, and check its condition," utos ko na agad niyang sinunod.
Aiden went out of the car and went straight in front. He even leaned to look below the car but as soon as he stood up, I saw his puzzled face.
Pagpasok niya ng kotse ay agad ko siyang tinanong. "What happened?"
"I saw none. B-But I am sure, may nabangga ako," aniya at tumingin sa mata ko.
"Weren't you looking on the road? You should've known kung may dadaan o wala."
"I saw a guy standing on the other side of the street. Lumingon lang ako sa 'yo then pagtingin ko nasa harap na siya ng kotse. I don't even know how that happened," Aiden responded.
"Are you insane? An average human can only run for 8 miles per hour, 12 miles if they are running for their lives. How come that person appear in front of you in a blink of an eye?" I said with disbelief. Though, I know that Aiden wouldn't lie on me but what he's saying is impossible. It practically surpasses the laws of science.
"Just forget about it. You haven't found anything, right? No body, no crime. Now, go straight to my office, I badly want rest," I stated as I breathe deeply.
Hindi nagtagal ay nakarating na rin kami sa opisina ko. All my staffs are bowing their heads on a 19-year-old man. I don't feel embarrassed because I am the owner oof this company. I built this using my own blood and sweat, so I deserve their respect.
It was 11 o'clock in the evening when I woke up. My desk which is filled of tons of paper works a while ago, vanished. I am sure that Aiden is working on it right now, like he always does. Soon, I know that his hard works will pay off.
I went down to the basement and went straight to my car.
Being as so-called-successful young man isn't that thrilling. When I started studying, I never experienced the thrill I was looking for, or even the hard times that a normal student went through. My grades were always perfect, even the professors don't even want to talk or approach me because they are afraid of my "advanced" questions. I sometimes thought of finding the purpose of my life. I achieved my dreams at this age, built my own company, became rich and filled my office with tons of trophies and awards.
But nothing of those that I achieved fulfill my satisfaction. What I want is the purpose of living. And sadly, I can't find it anymore.
I was driving on a bridge along the Han River here in Seoul. I stopped my car and parked it on the side, I went out then head straight to the railings. I can see the slogans carved on the metal railing to prevent the cases of suicide.
I looked up as I saw the twinkling stars on the night sky. The cold wind gives an invigorating feeling and the sound of the water creates a solemn aura. I stayed for on that position for minutes, while my eyes are glued at the stars.
Did you know that star gazing has benefits? This helps to physically relax us since we can then recognize any bodily tension and breathe into it. It also helps us relax psychologically by taking a break from our thoughts. Well, I hope that by staring on these beautiful stars, give me the purpose of my existence.
I breathe heavily as I climbed on the bridge's railings. I stood up on it and spread my arms as I embrace the cold wind coming from the river. I turned to the stars to see its ethereal beauty for the last time.
I closed my eyes as I jumped on the railings and felt the pressure of falling. The Earth's gravity is 9.8 meters per second squared, so I suppose I'll touch the water surface in no time.
As I felt the cold water slowly consuming my body, memories of my life flashed on my mind. Everything that happens in my life played like a 10-second film. Even if I can't find the purpose of my existence in this world, I still thought that this is the meager extent of my life.
