It happened the very first time that he saw her. He tried pushing it off his mind. It didn’t work.

He couldn’t stop thinking about her. But he was more worried about his best friend. For his best friend, for the sake of their friendship he had to forget her. He just had to.

So he avoided looking at her. Talking to her. Even when in the group he couldn’t say anything whenever she was the topic. He didn’t want anyone to know. Not even Yoongi. This was his mistake.

And he needed to correct it.
Sure, he can be friends with her. Avoiding her didn’t help him forget her. Maybe seeing her with Tae and being just friends with her will help him overcome his feelings. And with that hope, he tried to go to sleep that night.

A few days had passed by. Hoseok tried his best to forget the new feelings he had. And he was pretty proud of himself. Sure, he loved meeting her almost every day.

Seeing her smile, her eyes, how she playfully shakes her head to bounce the bangs off her eyes. Her sweet voice.

But he was getting over her. He was sure of it.

“Hi oppa!”

Sohyun greeted as she arrived with Tae. Hoseok waved back to either of them with the sweetest smile he could muster. He then noticed their intertwined fingers.

And his smile fell.

“Kookie?”
Shaking his head, he asked Tae when he noticed it was just the two of them.

“He had left early,” Tae said, disappointment evident in his voice.

Kookie still hadn’t warmed up to the idea of Tae dating. They couldn’t understand why. And by this point, Tae often got more frustrated than sad at the situation.

“Have you been waiting for long oppa?”

Every instance she talked to him, his heart would start racing. Or exploding. Or he couldn’t breathe. He was unsure how to explain it.

But he was sure that he was getting over her.

“No, Of-Of course not!” he stuttered.

He thanked the gods they didn’t notice.
