Third person P.O.V
The loud howling and growling were back when the night just kept on deepening with the passing of time. The cabin was silent as ever, with no sound as the two males lay there with their backs facing each other.
Taehyung kept on pondering what the other revealed in the evening. He was still on edge but seeing Jungkook crying like a child lost in the crowd, made him feel mixed emotions for him. It was definitely difficult for him to deny the other as he knew his own growing soft spot for him.
"Why are you not cuddling today, love?" Jungkook's softest voice made him blink his eyes tiredly. He wasn't actually tired to sleep as he slept for a whole day, again.
"It's just-" His words disappeared midway, not knowing what to say when he was clear-cut sure of why he was doing that. There was almost a war going on between his mind and heart, a war to either be normal like before or not. Don't take him wrong, he was just too shocked after everything.
Jungkook sighed at the answer, propping himself on his left elbow he looked down at the younger who was just staring blankly at the door of the washroom.
"Take your time to decide what you want, but don't stress yourself." Taehyung closed his eyes, recalling what he decided before and what Jungkook said.
Flashback
"That hybrid? Your friend? How?" Taehyung bombarded the other male with so many questions.
"I don't know either. I just get to find him a few days ago and then tried to approach him a few times but never got the luck." Taehyung silently tried to digest that when Jungkook wiped his tears and straightened his back, now looking directly into his eyes.
"I planned to make sure that you escape today so that I can find him on my own without risking your safety." Taehyung bit his lips on that. "I thought that I'll find you later if I- if I ever get to survive here."
Silver bangs moved in a swift motion the way Taehyung whipped his neck up in utter shock.
"You just said, he isn't a human anymore, so what's the point of your efforts? He attacked us, he attacked 'you'!"
"I know, maybe he is just in some daze or something? Didn't you notice, he looked way better than a normal ghoul?" Jungkook looked so happy when he notified him, and Taehyung couldn't help but think again about that. It wasn't a lie that he looked more like a human than a ghoul.
"I promise, I will make sure that you escape first, then my search for him starts." Taehyung frowned when Jungkook nodded to himself, not looking at him anymore.
"You want me to leave you here, alone?" Jungkook sighed at that, a small sad smile playing on his lips.
"You've no idea how it will affect my heart," Then his eyes slightly moved up to lock with Taehyung's widened ones. "But, your life and safety are more important than my heart and feelings, pup."
There was a moment of silence that just prolonged until the younger of the two decided to break it.
"What's your plan? How will you interact with him? What's your plan to avoid getting ripped apart by his claws?" The tone wasn't harsh like before rather, it was soft and concerned and it was enough for the raven-haired to smile genuinely, knowing the other was worried about him and his feelings weren't gone.
"I'll keep my guards on but first I've to find him, alone. That's why we will try to escape tomorrow as well, after you leave this place, make sure to find some help." Taehyung frowned, well it doesn't sound like a good plan.
"And what if he just- he," He couldn't bring to complete his words, a huge lump formed in his throat. Jungkook smiled, trying to hold Taehyung's hand, and this time the younger didn't protest.
"If that happens, it would be my fate. Maybe, a little relief to die in his hands after hurting him." Those words were enough to make the silver-haired teary once again. This time he leaned forward to hug Jungkook, arms tightly wrapped around his neck when he nuzzled his face in the other's shoulder.
"No! Don't say that, please. It hurts to even imagine." His heart clenched, the sight of seeing the older laying at a distance when he was at the mercy of the hybrid, was still fresh in his mind and he knew how much it hurts.
Jungkook kept on patting and caressing his back till he was calm enough. He pulled back to wipe his tears and looked up to the older's teary eyes that hold something like..... guilt.
"I'm not going alone, we will leave this hell together.!" Jungkook frowned, shaking his head at that.
"No, baby. You are not fully recovered yet, it would be better if you leave first."
"There isn't a way, Hyung! We can at least try our luck next time." His lips didn't twitch even when he wanted to give a smile, mind still mocking him and alarming him for making such a decision. Maybe, he could've done the same as Jungkook if it was for Jimin or Jin hyung.
"Don't worry and think about it thoroughly. Who knows, if you change your thoughts."
But till now, he was very much adamant on his decision. He can't be selfish when Jungkook was nothing but always a savior. It wasn't easy to just overcome his fears and doubts quickly but he had seen the sincerity and love in those eyes, he believed that Jungkook wasn't lying.
His body slightly flinched when Jungkook placed his arm over his waist, slightly pulling him back to nuzzle in his nape, soft puffs of warm breath tickling his skin and hand caressing his clothed stomach gently.
"I'm really sorry for hiding that, but believe me, I never had bad intentions." Taehyung felt like crying when his skin felt wet on his nape but he stayed in the same position.
"I'm really sorry, but please.. please, don't be like that.. it's hurting me so badly." Taehyung got what the other meant. Since evening, after he hugged the other and announced his decision, he just didn't feel like talking or being near to the other. His mind was a very bad mess and he needed to sort it out but hearing what the older said made him feel sad.
Gulping, he turned back and Jungkook moved back quickly after noticing his movements. Taehyung's heart clenched again when he heard the other sniffing lightly and pulled back, thinking that he made him uncomfortable.
"I'm sorry for disturbing you... rest for now." It felt very bad because that normal voice was shaking, sounding so vulnerable and fragile at the moment.
His heart made him do that when he grabbed the other's hand and wrapped that around his own waist before hugging him, putting his head over the buff chest only to hear that rhythmic heartbeat.
Jungkook was a little taken aback but hugged him back without any word, letting the younger do whatever he wanted till he felt his eyes getting droopy after that eventful day.
Taehyung clearly felt the change in the rhythms of chest movements and he sighed, knowing that the older fell asleep in his embrace but he couldn't. Those noises kept on echoing but weren't louder than his own turmoil going wild in his mind.
The next day, he announced that he will be staying with the older ones till he wants and Jungkook agreed after a lot of pestering.
"I'll look around for a while, maybe I could find him," Jungkook informed, gulping the last of the apples he found on the tree as only berries were left now, also a little as well. Taehyung, on the other hand, ate a few other fruits.
"Can I come along?" He inquired when he saw Jungkook getting his bag and knife, after making his man bun.
"You rest for today, maybe tomorrow you can accompany me? Also, I'm going to safe zones, so don't worry." Sighing, Taehyung nodded to let the other go when another idea popped up in his mind.
Jungkook smiled and came forth only to peck his forehead and then his lips which caught him off guard.
"Take care, my baby. I'll try to be back early." Taehyung nodded, feeling his cheeks slightly burning when another kiss landed on his cheek, vanishing all of his doubts in an instant as he felt his heart melting at the soft gesture.
He waved, seeing off the older who left the cabin with great care. But as the older left, Taehyung quickly put the basket back on the table and limped to get the torch as Jungkook didn't take it because it was daytime.
Without wasting any more time, he quickly removed the broken lock and opened the door to see the same darkness. He just couldn't stop thinking about many things and exploring that basement was one of those, after all, he was a reporter, and being curious was his job.
After removing the wooden slab, he sneezed when he accidentally let it fall carelessly and dirt tickled his nose. Avoiding that he carefully stepped on the first stair and directed the light downstairs to find it a bit longer, maybe about 30 steps or more.?
Taking very careful steps, not to fall or trip because of his injuries, he finally made his way down. But to his dismay, there was nothing but another empty hall instead of a room. But he wasn't going back after coming down with this much effort.
Blowing some air, he stepped forth, making sure to look around with a torch, and even found a few switchboards but the electricity wasn't working.
"Yeah, of course." Rolling his eyes, he stepped forth to find a small corridor that was leading somewhere. It took him a little while to actually walk on that but he felt that worthy when he came in front of another long corridor, wider and many doors lining the whole way.
"Rooms?" A small frown was made on his face when he saw numbers in each room starting from E-0. He tried to open them but they were locked or maybe jammed.
"It seems quite old." He muttered, nodding to himself before trudging further to take a turn on left and found another big hall that was totally different from the first one. A cold shiver ran along his backbone when he stepped further, keeping his eyes fixed on the front but wasn't unaware of the other sides as well.
The sight made him stumble back in shock and fear was a huge amount of scattered equipment, many bags, small beds, dirty sheets and
Blood stains...
