Chapter Twenty-Four: Time of Need
After Scott and Derek had spoken to Deucalion and let him go. Personally, I would have ripped his heart out of his chest. But we all can't get what we want... We had made our way to the Nemeton as Scott had directed Derek. As we arrived at the scene there were small pot holes in the ground. But in the middle was a massive tree stump, and I could feel the power that it holds. It was kind of alluring, and toxic all at the same time...
With half-an-hour we had pulled everyone out of the root-cellar that was under the Nemeton. As everyone started to say 'Hey' to each other. It warms my heart to see families come together, to be missed by one another and at times like this I missed my family, and my Sister... But I didn't want too lie anymore to the people I care for.
"Guys, can I have a word with you..." I spoke to the group, as Allison, Scott and Stiles turned to face me, but so did everyone else. "Everyone actually," I countered, as I knew the parents were going to go away to let us talk, but I needed to talk to them all. They all gathered around me, as I stood to face them all. I took a shaky breath as this was going to be hard for me to say... "Today has made me realise something. That family is everything, and if we lose family then we are lost..." My eyes began to fill with tears but I fought them back. "I lost my family to an Alpha a few years ago," Their expressions softened as they held shock on their faces as well as tears slid down my cheeks. "My eight-year old Sister was the first to go, then my parents...And I couldn't do anything because I ran. Like a good girl I was, I listened to my parents and ran for the hill. Maybe if I stayed and fought for my family. I wouldn't be here today-" my words had gotten lost as I choked them out as feeling overwhelmed me. I saw a few tears in everyone's eyes, but not enough to actually make a tear fall, but I knew that they held sympathy for my story. "-And I would be fine with that," I let out a shaky breath as more tears fled down my cheeks.
"Alice, we didn't know," Allison had spoke gentle, as her voice was comforting.
"I've been holding it in for so long and seeing your parents be taken and their lives risked and what it might do to you all if you lost one of them..." My words had gotten lost again, as my eyes glistened over them all. "But I made an oath to myself that I wouldn't let anything happen to other families," I smiled thinly as I taste saltiness from my tears that had gotten onto my lips. "I'm sorry, I'm laying it all on you, but your my friends and I didn't want to lie anymore," but truth be told, I was still lying to them. I didn't tell them that this happened nearly four- hundred years ago and myself being a vampire, but that can be saved for a later date...
Allison, Scott and Stiles had came forward and stood in front of me, as tears kept rolling off. Their gazes saddened, as they felt for me. Without any warning, they all came in for a group hug, crushing me gentle into their warm embrace. I embraced them back, as I wrapped my arms around the boys as Allison was in the middle.
"We're your family now," Stiles had said, as I smiled at the thought of them as my family now and it warmed my heart. I've came along way since I've met Scott and Stiles, then Allison and Lydia. My friends grew and so did our relationships and this was a good thing. Even the Big Bad Alpha, who was just a Beta again, that turned into something that I didn't knew I could feel again...

After the whole thing at the Nemeton and their parents being safe, we all went different ways as they will need to time to adjust. Derek had wanted to see me in his loft, it sounded urgent as he had phoned me. Which he doesn't normally do unless it was urgent or he wanted a favour from me...
I stood in his loft, as he wanted here yet. The place was filled with natural light, as the sun shined through the length wide windows. I walked to the table meters in front of the windows, at least they were fixed. I sighed deeply, as I turn around and leaned on the side of the table, my arms crossing over my chest. My gaze glancing over to the door, and to the floor where Boyd had been killed. A flash of images appeared in my minds eye, as I was like living his death all over again. Though we weren't close, he shouldn't have died because of something so petty. But Nature had dealt it's card, and that what it had chosen.
"What have I told you Derek," I spoke aloud, as I turn my body to face the spiral stairs in the corner, as he watches me closely. As he wasn't really good on sneaking up on me, as I'm such more better at him. "Never sneak up on woman," I smiled thinly at him as I pulled a face. He just smirks, as he comes down the stairs.
"I don't see a woman," Derek had shot back, making me bite my inner check, as I contained myself from laughing.
"Yeah your right, I'm more of a self-proclaimed Witch," I had shot back, as he came off the last step, and came to the side of the table, as I still watched him steadily. "Now do you need something? Or did you just want a chit-chat?" I was half-serious and half-sarcastic as he could obviously tell.
"I just wanted to talk," Derek said softly, as he comes to the front of me his own arms crossing over his wide-broad chest, and his biceps tensing up. Must say, they do look excellent in this position.
"The floor is yours," I replied back, as I straightened myself up, as I stopped leaning from the table, but kept my arms folded.
"It's to do with Jennifer," he began, as this wasn't going to be good, but I let him speak. "When she saw you, she said she killed you. And looked totally shocked by you standing in front of her," and that's where this conversation is going with this. He wants to know how I survived.
"She lies Derek. She lied to us all, and you're going to believe her about that?" I spoke with softness in my tone as I stared intently into his greeny/bluey eyes. "I might have resurrected myself the first time around, but Nature won't allow anything like that again," Though these words were lies, I was basically full on lying to him. But he seems to be distracted, though his eyes were on me, it looked like he was listening in on my heart. "Go on. Listen in. See if I'm lying to you," I state annoyed that he was doing it, but if it makes him feel better then sure. My heart pumped steadily, as I gotten good over the years...
His face softened, as he stopped listening. "I'm sorry," he states as he looks away from my gaze, as he know he did wrong, but he didn't want to admit it. I sighed, as I untangled my crossed arms, and stepped forward to him, his eyes reconnecting to meet mine.
"It's okay. You've been hurt before and I get that," I came so close to him, that I had to basically look up. "But thank you Derek, for believing me," his face softened even more as he was relaxed with my presence. "For caring," I leaned up gently to his cheek and placed my soft lips upon his stubble. It was a slowly peck, and lasted mere moments. There were tension between us, but it wasn't bad. But it was wrongly timed, we couldn't do anything like that. I don't think we were ready... I pulled back to see his eyes upon mine, as I nodded slowly to him, smiling thinly.
I walked passed him, and headed for the door, hands in my jacket pocket. "I guess, I'll see you around, Derek," I stopped for a moment to look over my shoulder at him, as he nods his head. I turned back after a long meaningful moment staring at him, to look at the metal door, and by magic it swings open as I went up the stone steps and once I was out of the loft, it had magically closed on it's own...
A dramatic exit much...
......................................................
Scott, Stiles and Allison will now have to live everyday feeling the darkness inside their hearts as this is what the price was to find their parents. But I had a feeling that this darkness wasn't going to get in their way of their lives. They have their friends to watch out for them, they have the love and support of their families. But most of all, they have each other to look out for and they have me to look out for them, as they don't have to go at this alone...
My darkness however, was different to theirs. I've been living with it all my life, since I was turned into a vampire. The horrible things that I did through the centuries and now that I look back on, isn't pleasant. I've made mistakes, I've killed people because of my blood lust. I've loved more than I can count, I've lost more than I can handle. But through the pain and heartache, I held onto my humanity because it makes me who I am, it makes me the person who my friends can count on, who they can speak to when they have problems...
'You can't out run your demons.' 'Once a monster, always a monster.' That is what myself said when I was in my own mind. How I constantly fight my inner demons, how I suppress them down until the feeling goes away. But that nagging little voice in my head when I can feel the darkness, when I lose control of my magic or myself, the anger I build up as I feel strongly about death. This could be my tipping point over the edge, the welcome of darkness that will flood my heart if I'm not careful. For the meantime, I have my friends that will keep my humanity in check. That I know will love me with every fibre in their bodies.
And now I will accept that...
