Chapter Thirteen: Fault
(Flash Back)
The whole idea of striking the Alpha's first was a stupid one, and I knew that Scott didn't like it. So, I decided to take a chance, a leap of faith you would call it. i wanted to do this my way, and no one else's. This was my decision to make, and it was all on me.
I had followed Scott and Isaac, as I knew Scott would have his own plan, and Isaac would follow him like a lost puppy he was right now. Their scents were strong as they were together and it wasn't hard in smelling them out.
It had lead me to an abandoned building, but it was like more of a mall type structure. I made my own way in, not following the same route as the boys did. I went above, as the place was massive.
I used my stealth to cross a beam of type, below was a opening, with escalators and I'm guessing Deucalion standing half-way on the left hand escalator. I see Scott and Isaac come out of the shadow, as I was behind the escalators but to the right side, hiding in the shadows.
"You didn't come alone," Deucalion states, as I used my vampire hearing to hear this conversation.
"Yeah. This is Isaac," Scott replied, as I see him gesture to Isaac to his right.
"I'm not talking about Isaac," Deucalion replied, as I look further into the shadows to see Derek in his wolf-form, his eyes glowing their blood red, as he steps out.
"You knew I would do this? Derek don't," But Derek didn't listen to Scott's command, as this was Derek's plan all along. "You can't do this and no one gets hurt. If someone else dies..."
"Him," Derek had cut off Scott as he pointed a clawed finger at Deucalion. "Just him,"
"Just me?" He began, as he unfolded his arms. "Now, how's a blind man find his way into a place like this all on his own?" He had a point, he couldn't find his way into this place. A dread feeling washed over me, as I heard clawing being dragged down stone, and it's rumble hitting the floor. I took my gaze to a pillar to see a woman with no shoes, sliding down the pillar using her claws on her feet and hands to slow her descent down. Before jumping off, as a low growl came from the back of her throat.
Then out of no where a larger guy, came from behind Scott and Isaac, his face already in his wolf form, his teeth bare, as he also growls. This wasn't good, I began to move from my position, but with the push of my legs, I went into vamp-speed, running as a blur to the other side of the mall, now facing directly in front of Deucalion, still on the floor above, peering down to Scott and the rest.
It was like Mexican stand-off between them all, waiting to see who was going to shoot first. Well in this case, be the first one to attack first. For a moment it was tense, but I hear Derek growl as he runs forward, wanting to get a strike to Deucalion, but the woman had other plans for him, as she leaps into the air and attacks him. Thus the fight begins,, the twins had formed into a giant monster werewolf. I had no idea they could do that...
Isaac went in first and attacked but got knocked down easily, but then Scott roars and runs at the joined-twins, but they dodged his attack and picked him up by the neck and swung him into a stone wall. When he impacted the wall, it smashes and it leaves a hole, as Scott falls to the floor.
The fight counited, Derek had held the woman off pretty good so far. Boyd and Cora had the big burly guy which wasn't so good. If I intervene now the Alpha pack will know that I'm a Witch, and use that against me use my friends to get what they want from me. But if I stand here and do nothing, I won't have any friends left...
The whole place stunk of blood, all of it mixed from different people, it was too heavy scent to get who's blood it was. I took my gaze away from the fighting to get myself under-control as this place stunk of blood. If I was a newborn vampire, I would be out of control by now...
I took my gaze back up from the ground to see Scott being dragged by the joined-twins to Isaac. Cora being stood on by the woman with no shoes on, pushing down on her neck to stop her from moving. Boyd on the ground with scratch marks on his shoulder, and Derek stood looking around knowing he had lost this battle.
"Kill him," Deucalion states to Derek, as he looks high all mighty on those steps, but he was just another wolf. Derek wouldn't just kill a member of his pack, I know he wouldn't because that's not him. "The others can go," I see the twins pull Scott and Isaac up by their back of their necks, as both of them were kneeling. "You're beaten," Deucalion states as he took a few steps down. "Do it, Derek. Take the first step," Deucalion came to a halt a few steps down from where he stood last.
"Are we serious with this kid? Look at him. He's an Alpha?" The woman with no shoes on states, as she looks to Derek with disgust, like he wasn't worthy of being an Alpha. "To what? A couple of useless teenagers?"
"Some have more promise than others," Deucalion eyes seemed to glance over to Scott.
"Let him rise to the occasion then. What'll it be, Derek? Pack or family," the woman states, as if he would chose a pack over his own flesh and blood. The woman presses her foot down onto Cora's neck, crushing her as she let's out a painful whimper.
Derek wasn't going to chose between saving Cora's life or killing Boyd, it was an impossible choice to make right now. It was now or ever. Without really thinking it through as my emotions took over, I used my vamp-speed to speed down a level to where they all were, hiding in the shadows for a moment, before walking into the light.
Scott and Isaac seemed to notice me first, but then the heads turned, Derek red eyes wondered my face, his expression confused. Not on why I was here, but what to do, and he seemed want me to help... It was all in his eyes, his glowing red eyes...
"No one's murdering anyone today," I spoke aloud, as I walk pass Cora on the floor.
"And who are you?" Deucalion had asked as he seemed surprised of my presence.
"Someone who cares too much for these people," I spoke the truth, but Deucalion let out a deep laugh for a brief moment.
"Ennis," he spoke the burly guys name as he growls in my direction making me turn my gaze to him. I only smirk at him, as he strides across the ground, but before he could come any close, I flicked my wrist quickly towards him, and he went flying back, gaining air time for a moment before landing with a thud on his back.
"I suggest you let us all go before someone really gets hurt," I state, my voice dry and cold, as it was directed at Deucalion. He seemed just to smile at my response, a wicked smile.
"A Witch," he hummed as taking in a deep breath through his nostrils, like he was getting a whiff of my scent. "A strong one at that," his expression seemed to change to a wide devilish smirk as he was impressed.
However, before anyone of us could get a word in, an arrow whistled through the air, before hitting the twins, making them split back into their separate bodies, and falling to the ground. Another arrow had zoomed through the air, hitting at the feet of the woman with no shoes, making her blind as he stumbled back in shock.
"Your eyes... Cover your eyes!" Deucalion yells as he crouches on the steps, as arrows kept hitting the floor, making me cover my eyes with my arm. But out of nowhere, I felt a strong body hover over me, placing their arms around me to shield me from the sparks from the arrows. I peer up to look at the person, glowing red eyes seemed to stare me down. I know I'm suppose to hate Alpha's because of what happened to my family, but Derek wasn't like that he was different.
I smiled at him, as his grip on me was tight to keep me protected. But the whistles of the arrows seemed to stop, as Derek noticed it too, as he let me go, and I began to look around to see the woman who doesn't wear shoes had fled, the twins were down and had no energy to get back up. Derek ran over to Boyd and Cora, helping him to stand. I watch as Cora helps Boyd out of the building, as I turn to look at Scott running towards Ennis, who was much stronger and built than he was.
Within seconds, they collided, it was like two boulders hitting one another, and thunder crackling through the air. I watched as my eyes widened, as Scott went skidding back, as Ennis did the same. My eyes were focused on Scott, his head lifted up, his eyes a dim red colour. But Scott shakes his head, and looked back up, his eyes turned back to their normal yellow colour.
Out of no where, Derek ran at Ennis who was now distracted, he pushes him, and throws his claws at him. As Derek fought again, I ran over to Scott, my hands going to his shoulders as he tried to crawl forward to get to Ennis and Derek.
I hear deep growls coming from their voices as my eyes wondered to Derek as he had just used his elbow to hit Ennis in the face. They both went at each other, grabbing their arms and dragging each other to the edge as they use their strengths to see who would win. I lost my grip on Scott as he tore away from me, crawling closer to them.
Ennis headbutted Derek in the face, and it would seem that he would lose this battle. Scott neared Ennis and dove for his leg slashing it, but at the same time, I held my hand flat out towards Ennis. As I was working the pain infliction spell, but as the pain shot through his head, his grip on Derek didn't loosen, my eyes widened as they tumbled off the edge, and fell.
In that moment, Derek's eyes connected to mine, it was like time had slowed just for us to make eye contact. My breath hitched, as pain shot through my entire body. I ran to the edge to see him fall below, he wasn't going to survive this. I could feel the tears well up, my breathing picking up.
"Derek!!" I yelled, as he was too far away to reach with magic and my emotions were all over to perform any type of spell. My legs gave way, and I crumbled to the floor, tears now dripped down my face. I squeezed my eyes shut as I didn't want to believe it, but I heard a distant crash and bones break.
In that moment, I let my emotions take over, a painful cry came from the deepest depth of my throat as I kept my eyes shut. The tears on my face felt like a hot-poker stick being dragged down my cheeks. The scream echoed in the building, as I felt the ground shift, the rubble moving as my magic was getting out of hand. I could hear cracks being generated on the walls, and the ground began to shake more violently.
Sobs escaped my lips, as the scream subsided. I felt a strong hand go to my shoulder, making me snap open my eyes, seeing that small pieces of rumble were floating around me, and the walls were also cracked. As I took a deep breath, trying to gain control for a second, the rubble around me dropped but the pain inside of me stayed.
Derek Hale was dead...
And it was all my fault...
