chapter thirty five
One morning came Severin and Tully went off to do their own thing, Tully heading Northeast from Fort dunstad accompanied by Serana as Severin road North to dawnstar to meet up with his old friends at the dark brotherhood sanctuary. Parking shadowmere outside by the secret entrance to the sanctuary he climbed down the narrow crawl space before arriving inside the sanctuary where he could hear a familiar male voice shouting in a very annoyed and frustrated tone.
(Severin pov)
A wave of nostalgia crept up my nose as I was back in a place that I called home after the incident in Falkreath I peeked my head around the corner and saw a very familiar face. He was a Redguard wearing a variety of hammerfell garb with a red alik'r hood with a scimitar on his hip. He was the primary contractor for the dark brotherhood Nazir.
And standing next to him with her arms crossed was us little girl to those who didn't know her and was dumb enough to underestimate her. She wore a small red belted dress with dark blue sleeves her dark brown hair made her Amber eyes stand out more as she had a fang smile as she watched on.
"Come on you idiots, keep your balance what if you're supposed to drop on your target and you fall on them? Not only are you dead but so are they. Dead men don't get paid."Babette said I smiled inwardly saying that she hadn't lost her sassy fire that she always had since I've known her. But I could tell Nazir was about ready to throw something at the fools so I decided to intervene and give them a lesson they wouldn't forget. I cast a muffle and invisibility spell on myself to muffle my movement and to make myself invisible as I quietly crept around the two initiates and I waited for my chance the moment I saw that the two were off balance I smacked them behind their knees with my tail making them fall a good three feet on the ground before I pinned them underneath my foot and had my daedric crossbow trained on them as the invisibility dropped and I saw a look of shock and terror on their faces. "You should really pay attention to Nazir's lessons you fools, no matter how skilled you think you are, all the skill in the world don't mean shit if you're dead before you can kill your target." I said in a gentle yet calm tone but I kept my firm and serious demeanor as one of the initiates who was a high elf woman spoke. "What if I cast invisibility like you did, would I have a better chance of doing that?" She asked with a little condescension in her voice I wanted to punch her in the face for that comment but I decided to do something much more practical. "I don't know why don't you try it out, there is no harm and trying new things so by all means give it your best shot." I said as she stood up and cast an invisibility spell I then stood still and closed my eyes even though she was invisible to the naked eye no matter how skilled or sneaky you are all creatures even the smallest of insects create vibrations on the ground when they move. By feeling the vibrations in the ground with my tail I was able to predict where she was and when I felt her vibrations getting closer and picking up pace I quickly ducked before grabbing her by her throat and pinning her to the ground I didn't need the vibrations to know where she was because I could hear her breath. "That was actually very good, but you need to work on your breathing I could hear your breath accelerate when you went in for the attack." I said offering her a hand up which she took she looked much more humbled but she didn't have a look of anger but rather a determination to fix her flaw which I had to admire since you won't get anywhere in life unless you're willing to pick yourself up after making a mistake. After giving her a few more pointers I turned my head to look at my old comrades and before I had the chance to say anything little Babette wasted no time walking over and smiling up at me. " It's so good to see you Severin, it's been a long time how have you been?" The little vampire girl looked up at me as I gave her a gentle pat on the head. "I'm doing quite well Babette I can see you and Nazir are doing well, in case he thought I didn't see him trying to hide around the corner on the left side of the wall."I said as Nazir stepped out from his hiding place with a cocky smirk. "I swear listener those eyes of yours, they are truly incredible you have the eyes of a predator my friend and you reek of blood, I salute you."
(Tully pov)
As me and Serana rode on my daedric horse North East from the fort we had commandeered the day before I rode up to the cave wall that led into my home. Upon entering the sound of the waterfall met my ears as I walked over the bridge and approached the porch of my domain the tree planters on either side of the pathway filled with deathbell flowers as we walked through the front door into the first room there were all chemical potters on my right along with a wood cutting spot to my left as I walked down the stairs my daedric boots may contact with the black and red flooring before stepping on the rug and moving forward on the second door on the right I open the door where my enchanting station, my alchemy station, and my staff enchanter were positioned I went up the stairs to the upper level and made a hard right along the railing before opening up a weapon display case and carefully laying my grandmother's wolf blade inside along with her crown next to it. Content that I now brought my grandmother somewhere safe I walked down into the storage room on the other side of the bottom floor and put the miscellaneous items I had inside just to be safe since I had to be in dawnstar soon I would have to move carefully. I looked up to see Serana reading one of the books on the bookshelf deciding to leave her to it I walked down into the trophy room at the end of the hallway and put some more random weapons on the item rack then I noticed my old imperial dragon armor on the armor stand along with my shield sword and Hammer sitting in the weapon racks I gently ran my daedric armored hand along the smooth surface of the metal remembering my days with the legion. after I was done putting everything away and making more potions of blood me and Serana headed off making our way down towards Dawnstar where I had to take out a cult of followers to molog ball who were irritating him as he asked of me in Markarth while we were there. As soon as we left my home we rode north towards Dawnstar I knew Severn was here already because I could see his horse Shadowmere who was currently laying down in the snow me and Serana jumped off my Daedric horse as we started Scouting For any signs of the Daedric cult. Understanding that the protests would more likely than not being active at night to avoid detection the two of us stayed and wandered around until Nightfall until I took notice of a Nord minor who was not being subtle at all sneaking into the Quicksilver mine. I looked up at Serana and she gave me the same look we both nodded and we creeped up behind him following him as soon as we were inside the mine we silently followed him until he opened a secret passage which led into a really big room that was carved out.
I could see four or five sarcophaguses and a bunch of cultists along with a shrine to molag bal on the far end of the room I could see a man standing there who I presumed was my primary target. Serana agreed to guard the entrance to prevent anyone escaping or allowing reinforcements to come in as I jumped down to the bottom floor I took notice of the armor they were wearing.
The head of the Daedric cult seem to be wearing a corrupted version of the standard vigilant armor upon noticing me he pulled out a Daedric Mace and casted Ebonyflesh on himself as the other cultists stood and prepared to fight. "I'm glad you came, Lord Molag bal and I made a deal, I sacrifice of my former vigilent comrades he will provide me a cure, and im sure he wont oppose to two more souls in his corner." The fool boasted proudly as I smile " Oh you will get your cure alright Fenrik, now come and get it." I said as I pulled the Mace of Molag bal off of my hip and stood at the ready. I could tell that these poor fools were his thralls so I'd have to kill them to which i had to agree with Fenrik's previous statment, Molag bal wont object to more souls it's one of the miners charged at me with their pickaxe raised I blocked with my arm twisted his arm that held the pickaxe before crushing his skull in with the head of the mace before kicking his limp body into another one. " You clearly have no idea who you are up against, I am the champion of Molag bal and I have come to claim your souls" I said as I broke another Miner's neck before hurling my mace into the chest of another one smirking as I continued massacring his little cult until it was down to just the two of us I smiled sinisterly before getting into a stance my one hand in front of me and my mace at the ready in my right hand. Fenrik rushed forward as I sidestepped and brought my knee directly into the torso of his corrupted vigilant armor breaking through the rust infested metal before grabbing his head and smashing it against the alter repeatedly until he was dazed and collapsed to his knees his head still resting on the altar. I raised the mace of Molag bal high above my head before bringing it down on his helmed head crushing it smiling as blood and brain matter splashed on my face once the deed was done I heard in all too familiar voice laugh from the altar. " Hahaha, well done, our deal has been fulfilled I provided him with a cure for vampirism by sending you to end his feeble life, and he provided souls for me and you provided the souls of his followers two problems solved at once." The voice of the lord of domination echoed throughout the hallowed cavern converted into a Daedric worship coven. "Indeed I must admit it was quite fun it's not every day I get to bash the skull in of a vigilant of Stendarr, so this was quite a fun day for me I must confess." I said as I could hear him chuckling. "Indeed, just remember the law of the world the weak get punished by the strong and the strong step on the weak." I nodded before I asked. "Now regarding the question I asked of you previously." After a few moments of silence his voice echoed " Yes, you seek the blood of the blood-matron herself, and it is as you suspected drinking her blood will indeed forge you into the most powerful vampire in existence, but you should know taking her blood will not be an easy task." I nodded since I suspected the original vampire would more likely than not be more powerful than anything I ever faced before however my ambition would not be quelled or discouraged and apparently my patron could sense this in me because he spoke once again. "Since you have served me well, and I am in a very good mood I will give you a little gift, you may use it how you will." Out of the blood alter came out a daedric bow that was cold to the touch.
" It's name is Coldharbours Bite, use it in my name and when you look down on your victim struck with this bow make sure they understand the feeling of submission and domination. Now off with you, the one you seek resides within the Blood-Matrons Crypt in the feeble and pathetic region the humans call The Rift go there and fulfill your ambitions, prove yourself to me!" Before I left I did the same thing I did once before I dove my head deep into the altar of blood and begin drinking the altar dry this cult didn't deserve his presence once I had finished gulping down the warm blood I wipe to my face before leaving the cave and smashing the entrance button making this place a tomb for those maggots. As I walked forward past Serana she gave me a smile as we went to return to Fort Dunstad. As we exited the mine we caught up to Severin who was just about to leave with Shadowmere. The three of us rode back towards the fort and as we arrived we could see Gentu, Sabrina, Yamma, and Shadow-step we're riding out heading towards the nearby Dwarven ruin to do the item retrieval job I presumed.
