It's Complicated
--------Kass's POV (SURPRISE)----
The chilly wind nipped at my ears, sending chills down my spine.
I'm outside reading a book on the front porch, winter starting to take it's toll.
Its been about 8 months since I first arrived at this house, Christmas was only a few days away and Molly was out shopping for Christmas presents.
I know she likes Shane but she doesn't want to admit it, hell, I've come to like Jace.
But am I going to admit that?....no.
Who wouldn't like the green-eyed blond, he's got a big heart.
Slamming my book shut with groan, I can't read with all this stuff going through my head.
Even the book seemed to taunt me, the two main characters together and happy, makes me sick.
Ok, I admit it, I'm jealous of all these couples.
I don't have the guts to let someone know how I feel, I can't even ask for ketchup at a restaurant.
My thoughts were interrupted by someone sitting beside me on the hammock, looking over I saw Jace.
My eyes quickly averted to the ground, picking at my nails nervously.
I could feel his gaze on me, making me shift around uncomfortably.
He grabbed the book out of my lap, reading the back curiously.
His eyes went down the page, soaking in every word, when he was finished he sat it down, pushing his hair out of his face.
My heart skipped a beat when he looked at me, his emerald green eyes locking with my brown ones.
He flashed a smile, pearly white teeth glowing under the sunlight.
"You like to read?" He asked, my eyes went to my lap again, "Yeah, don't call me a book nerd though" I said, tucking a piece of hair behind my ear.
His chuckled filled the air, "Don't worry, I like to read too" he said, pushing my shoulder lightly.
A small smile spread across my face as I pushed back, the hammock swaying back and forth.
The front door opened and Shane stepped out, keys in his hand.
Jace eyed him curiously, "Where are you going?" He asked, Shane looked at us, giving me a tiny smirk.
I mouthed 'fuck you', he turned his attention back to Jace, "Molly told me she needs help picking out your present" he replied, shrugging his shoulders.
Jace just nodded his head as Shane walked down the steps, getting in his car before driving off.
A smile came to his face as the car went down the road, "What are you grinning about" I asked, crossing my legs.
He looked at me, "I think he just wants to see her" he said, getting up and walking towards the front door.
"Do you want anything to drink?" He asked, I nodded my head as he walked into the house.
The sound of clanking bottles inside was heard before he stepped out, holding two things of root beer.
He handed me one, as I struggled with the top he easily popped his off with a thumb.
I could never get these things off, when I was young I used to smash the neck of the bottle against a rock and waterfall it.
To bad there are no rocks, Jace looked at me with an eyebrow raised.
"You need some help?" He asked, I nodded my head, embarrassed.
He grabbed the bottle, but before he took the cap off he looked at me, "let me teach you how to do it" he said, handing me the bottle.
I took it in shaky hands, he put his hand over mine and put it on top of the cap.
His chest was against my back as he guided my hand on what to do, his chin resting on my shoulder.
My thumb went under the cap and jerked up quickly, the top popping off and clinking on the wood.
Instead of focusing on what I just did, I was focused on Jace.
I mean you would do the same if your crush had his arms wrapped around you.
His breath was against my ear, "Kass, I've liked you for a long time now, and I was wondering if you'd like to be my girlfriend" he whispered.
My heart skipped a beat as the words left his mouth, this must be a dream.
I couldn't speak, all I could do was nod my head. He jumped up, bringing me with him.
He spun around in circles, me squealing in his arms, not stopping even when a car pulled in the driveway.
What will the holidays bring us. Heart break, tragedy, or a newfound love?
