"Where the hell were you!!" Kass screamed at me before tackling me in a hug, we had just walked through the door.
Her brown hair flying in my face as she squealed, her eyes looked tired along with her posture.
She must have stayed up all night, Kass never did like storms, they would scare her half to death.
A sleepy looking Jace walked into the room, his pajamas crumpled and his hair in all different directions.
With a yawn he walled up to Shane and smacked him in the back of the head.
"What was that for!!" Shane yelled, rubbing the back of his head, pouting.
"For not calling me on where you were, Kass nearly had a heart attack" he said, running his fingers through his hair with a sigh.
The blond strands landing back with the others messily, only making his hair worse.
Looking back at Kass I saw here taking something out of a box, having trouble getting it out.
The box moving further away as she pulled, only making whatever it was go deeper into the box.
That's when I noticed on the side it had the words 'CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS' written in sharpie.
With one last tug Kass finally pulled it out, the battered and old box ripping from Kass's violent tugging.
What she held in her hands was a big roll of Christmas lights, all of them tangled together in a mess.
Hopefully she doesn't plan on using them, it'll take us hours to untangle the mangled ball of wires.
Kass eyes it curiously, probably trying to figure out a way to untangle it.
Her smile faded and she threw the multi colored lights back into the box with a groan, "We just won't have lights" she huffed before grabbing another box.
This one had the same writing on the front but something different came out, a neatly twined ball of garlin, its glossy green texture glistening from the light entering through the window.
Her eyes lit up as she picked another ball out and threw it at me, pointing towards the staircase.
I caught it easily and glanced from her to the garlin in my hand, "Wrap it around the rails" she chirped, walking away towards the front door.
The prickly garlin was digging in my hands, do they make this stuff out of needles.
Shane and Jace were talking and laughing, with a roll of my eyes I walked to the staircase.
Running my hand along the glossy surface of the rail, trying to decide on how to do this.
When a decision came up I went to work, wrapping the garlin carefully on the rail, making sure to keep it neat.
All was going well until I had to trail it up the wall, I sat on the edge of the rail, keeping my feet locked in the bars in case I slid.
While reaching up and winding it around the column against the wall I had to stretch a little bit, my body leaning over the rail and wavering.
Just as I was finished my foot slipped, sending the rest of my body to go over the rail.
All I let out was a squeak before I felt nothing under me, my hair flying in my face.
Falling feels nothing like flying, your heart stops and you can't breath, waiting for the hard ground to make contact.
It happened so fast but the fall was in slow motion, seeing my hands slip and the rail slowly get further away, blood rushing to my head and my adrenaline in overdrive.
Just as I closed my eyes and braced for the impact someone yelled, and instead of hardwood colliding with my body I felt something else.
It wasn't hard but soft and warm, I thought I had died until I opened my eyes.
Greeted with a pair of worried looking blue ones, breathing heavily from running.
My fallen angel saves me again, Shane held me in his arms, holding my shaking body against his.
The tingling feeling you get when the blood finally drains from your head and back into your limbs.
I'm not sure who looks more petrified, me or Shane. My breaths came in ragged gasps, trying to get in precious oxygen that had been cut off by me holding it in.
He brought a shaky hand to my face as he brushed the loose strands from my eyes.
"I didn't save you from a blizzard yesterday for you to fall off a rail" he chuckled, his eyes showing something other than amusement.
They showed pure worry, scanning my body for any injuries.
I gave a shaky laugh back, trying to regain the feeling in my legs.
Brown hair whipped around the corner with a gasp, "Oh my god Molly!!" Kass yelled, running up beside Shane and looking down at me with big brown eyes.
Jace came in next, his shoes squeaking on the floor as he came around the corner, worry on his face.
"What happened" he asked, grabbing Kass's hand, that's new.
What happened while we were gone, instead of answering I stared down at their intertwined hands with a curious look.
Kass was first to notice, her tan skin going a deep red as she looked at the floor.
"We were going to wait until tonight to tell you" she said, her lips curling into a smile.
"Me and Jace are now a couple" she announced, raising their hands in the air.
Shane's jaw dropped and almost me in the process, staring at the two like they grew a second head.
"Finally!!" He yelled, his eyes lit up and a smile on his face.
I smiled also, seeing how happy Kass was made me happy.
They both looked adorable together, now she has someone else to have her back when I'm not there to.
Looking up I saw that the garlin was wrapped around the column perfectly, "At least I finished" I giggled, pointing towards the rail.
Kass smiled and Shane shook his head, chuckling as he put me down, After all......tomorrow is Christmas Eve and we needed to decorate.
