I SEE RED 24
The next morning, I woke up to a strange man standing at the foot of my bed. I had just woke up, so I was giving my eyes time to adjust, but this man looked exactly alike, Ethan. He smiled at me, as I wiped my eyes. He looked over at Bailey, who was still sound asleep.
"Wake your sister up, and be downstairs in five minutes!" His sweet looked changed almost instantly, he raised his voice, and nearly startled Bailey.
"Who in the hell is yelling this early? It is nearly six in the morning," Bailey exclaimed, looking at her phone next to her bed, on her table.
"I think he is the right-hand man of dad, I use to always see him picking dad up," I explained, removing the covers off of me.
Bailey and I got dressed quickly, as we raced each other downstairs. The strange man was standing next to the door, waiting for us. We all looked at each other, waiting for the next move, and that is when Aiden walked downstairs.
"He's coming too?" Bailey asked the man. "What is your name, you have not even told us yet?" Bailey and I asked at the same time, about that time Aiden was next to us.
"His name is Samuel, let's go!" Aiden was furious, I am assuming he heard Bailey asking about him. Bailey and Aiden are close, but recently they have not even been speaking to each other. Hopefully, at the end of the day, they could make up and forget all this nonsense.
Samuel opened the door and we followed each other like ducklings, not knowing what was ahead of us. We walked to Samuel's car and all climbed in the back seat, sitting shoulder to shoulder. He cranked up the car, and we took off. It was complete silence, the entire ride. Bailey and Aiden sat next to the window, and I was the one in the middle separating the two of them. After riding for about 30 minutes, I realized I had to find out where we are going. Did dad approve of this? Or did he know anything about it? Many questions ran through my mind until I gained the courage to end the silence.
"Mr. Samuel, where are you taking us? Does our dad know about this?" I asked, stopping the silence. He looked in the rearview mirror at us and began to speak.
"Call me Samuel, Mr. makes me feel old. Your dad told me to bring you to him. In about 20 minutes, you all will find out everything there is to know," he replied, keeping his eyes on the road, getting on the interstate.
I had no idea where we were heading. We just found out about dad's pirates, and maybe now this will be the first time we saw their headquarters. Twenty minutes flew by quickly, as we arrived at a gate. It was a huge silver gate with a massive lock holding it shut. Samuel got out of the car and unlocked the gate. Aiden got out of the car to help him open the gate. The gate was enormous, it took both of them to pick up the gate and push it open. Once the gate was open, they both got back in the car and we drove through the gate. I did not have the window seat, so I leaned on Bailey's side or propped up in the middle. The driveway was a straight paved road, the trees were so tall that I could not see the clouds. I looked behind us and the gate was closed shut again. That is weird, I thought to myself.
"Here we are guys, your dad's hideout, and his empire all in one," Samuel informed us.
"Just follow me, so you don't get lost," he added, opening the door for us, we stepped out and stretched a minute, before entering the Pirate Bay Empire. The name of the massive castle-like was in stone, it has been here for years or more.
If we were brought here, I hoped our dad would be here too. It would make sense if this is where he comes all the time. This place is secluded and sketchy, but I feel like I have been here before, almost like a second home to me. It looked scary, but on the inside, I somehow felt safe.
After a few minutes of following each other, we entered a big room, with huge paintings of different men. The men looked just like my dad but, much older. There were no windows in this room, almost like a circle room. As I looked around, I noticed everyone was in the elevator behind me, I walked over to everyone and the doors shut. The elevator took us straight up about five floors up. When the doors opened, there was our dad, he was on the gym floor. We walked out of the elevator and glanced around. There was a boxing ring to our left, workout equipment everywhere, and punching bags. The room was very large, it had a wall of windows, and a wall full of mirrors.
Our dad was in the boxing ring when we walked in. He was boxing a man, actually fist fighting him. Neither Bailey nor I, have seen our dad fight. This was the first time we saw our dad fighting to kill. Blood and sweat were slinging everywhere, all I saw was RED. Bright red blood was all over the place, it was defiantly a blood bath. After about ten minutes, the fight was broken up. Dad nearly busted his soldiers' heads while they were fighting. A man walked in with rags and jugs of water for each of them. They both cleaned themselves up and chugged some water that was given to them. They shook hands and the man disappeared, as dad saw us in the corner and he walked over to us.
"Well did you learn anything from seeing that? Because Aiden and Halley, you are next. Both of you will fight like you are fighting a stranger. You must pretend to not know each other. If you realize who you are fighting is your family, you will not fight with all your potential. You must fight like your life depends on it. Each of you will fight one another and we will see what you all need to work on, and then we will go from there. Grab your gear and meet us at the boxing ring. Bailey grab your stuff too, you and Aiden will fight, and you and your sister will fight, and so on. Everyone will fight everyone until I say it is time to stop. Make sure your ready, mentally, and physically. Let's go!" Dad shouted and we began grabbing our boxing gloves, mouthpieces, and headgear. All of our stuff already had our names on it. I put my mouthpiece on, my headgear, and struggled to put my last glove on when Aiden walked over to me.
"Hey let me help you with that. Whatever happens next, just know I am only trying to prove myself to my uncle and everyone else here. It is nothing personal. You must give it you're all. Picture me as someone you despise with everything, and put their face on mine. Halley, I don't want to hurt you, but I have no choice. So make sure you try with everything you got. I wanted to be Chief of the Pheonix Pirates, but honestly, your head is better than mine. I believe you should be the Chief, not me or Bailey. So let's go, and good luck out there." Aiden said putting his last glove on, entering the ring of death.
I glanced at dad and Bailey who was waiting for me to get in the ring. I debated on what moves I wanted to try to do, without making it to obvious. I smiled and entered the boxing ring. This was my first time being in a gym period, more or less a ring. I have never been in any fights, but I understand the concept of it. I got my head together and entered the ring.
Aiden started jumping around the ring, watching my every move. He was waiting for me to throw the first punch. So I stepped up and faked a punch. Instantly he blocked it, without even thinking about it. Right then and there, I knew Aiden was much quicker than me. Then it hit me, Aiden's fist hit my mouth. The mouth guard did not do much but hold the blood that was beginning to pour. I took my mouth guard out and threw it out of the ring. The hit pissed me off, and now I was ready to really begin. I hit gloves with Aiden and hit a rib shot. He swung high and popped me in the cheek. We danced around each other, and then I kicked his feet from underneath him. I jumped on top of him and began punching him in the head. We wrestled a little before Aiden put me in a chokehold. I slipped out immediately when I knew his grip was beginning to get tighter.
We both got up and pulled ourselves together. I glanced at dad and he looked genuinely happy for the first time in a while. Aiden sucker punched me while I was looking at dad.
"Never look away from your opponent, you will die that way," Aiden snickered.
"Never get beat up by a girl, when she knows all your weakness," I spat.
"You should be happy I don't want to actually kill you, or else you would be dead by now," He said elbowing me in my side. I swung and missed. He caught my hand and punched me with the other. He was making me mad, but I had to pull myself together. This fight meant a lot to my dad and it had to mean a lot to me if I wanted to be Chief.
"Take a break you two, Bailey you and Halley are up next. Aiden goes and rest, you and Bailey will fight after my daughters. To make this fun, the winner will fight me," Dad exclaimed, as he walked next to me whispering about something.
"Hey I am proud of you, but you need to watch your defense. You and Bailey, must not look at each other as sisters, think of each other as enemies. " Dad explained as he walked over to Bailey, assuming he would tell her the same thing. I chugged some water and wiped my face down.
Bailey began suiting up her gear, as I entered the ring for a second time. I took a deep breath as she went under the rope and we touched gloves. We flipped our switches and began dancing around each other. I took the lead and made the first move, I punched her in the cheek, and she got me back. She tripped me and I stumbled but I never went down. This made Bailey mad, so she tackled me, and began punching me in the face. My blood was spraying everywhere, while she was letting it into me. I managed to flip her over and get on top of her, I began to let her have it. She got a quick hard punch in that made me lose my balance, I staggered. That is when I tackled her and we both fell to the ground. Dad rushed over and broke us up.
We were both hurt, so we took a five-minute break, Dad said that is all we are getting. We took a break and then it was Bailey and Aiden's turn to fight. After about an hour of them fighting, Bailey could not make it anymore, she nearly passed out. Aiden helped take care of Bailey after the fight stopped. Aiden was strong, but Bailey was too worn out to fight that quick after we did. I kinda felt bad for her, it almost hurt me seeing her in that much pain. Samuel offered to bring Bailey home with mom, while Aiden stayed behind with Dad and I. Dad looked at me and began laughing, not a funny laugh, but a scary one. I knew there was a catch coming.
"Good job everyone, but your not done yet. The winner will fight me remember? This will be a hard choice because you both did such an excellent job, but only one of you will fight me today. The one who will fight me will be much closer to being Chief. This fight will be the last one this week, you kids need at least a week to get your strength back, and the following week we will continue. So use your free week however you want. But the one joining me today will be.........." Dad paused for 5 minutes or so, debating on who was worthy enough to fight. Honestly, I am terrified to fight my own dad but, if I have to then I will.
There it was, the dead silence again. The anticipation was killing me, I just wanted to know who it was going to be. My body ached and my mind hurt. This was the longest time I have ever had to wait. It felt like dad took an entire century to think about his decision. Aiden and I just starred at dad, whose eyes were looking us up and down. Dad's vein in his head was about to explode. I could cut the tension in the air with a knife, it was that strong. Dad made all his men leave except Samuel.
"Bring Aiden home please, Halley, and I have the fight to finish. I will call you when we are done," Dad exclaimed, as he looked at Aiden and then back at me. This was my moment and I will try my most damn to make the best out of it. Dad was expecting a lot from me, I hope I can meet up to his standards because if not, that meant Aiden or Bailey had the chance to become Chief. I told myself I would do whatever it took to replace my dad's place after he steps down.
"You ready old man?" I smiled at my dad.
