Epilogue 23
Margaret and Aurora sit and watch their children interact with each other and Marcus's other children. They've seemed to have paired off and although they do play with each other they keep coming back to the same pairings when they get bored with whatever they were doing or it is over. This has been true since they were old enough to play alone.
The same pairings for all of them.
Aurora and Margaret had both waited until their children were almost to the age of consent before allowing Marcus to get them pregnant once again. This time understanding of how the bond between them worked they were far more careful and they both are carrying fewer children.
In the fourteen years they've been married there has been some up and downs, that is normal, but never anything that truly threatened them. Aurora has never felt that Marcus has lost his love for her. In truth she felt like it has grown, as her own for him has.
She feels bad that Margaret will never feel that same kind of love, but she assures her mother that she is more than fine with how things have worked out between them all. Margaret prefers studying and has helped to teach the children.
Korban and Felicia did indeed get married and had a child months after the wedding ceremony. They seemed to enjoy having them since they've had seven altogether. They are all avid scholars and Margaret has no doubts that they will delve even deeper into the history of their people and make new discoveries as they get older.
Korban is delighted as is Felicia. She has always loved learning and if they hadn't been sent from Earth than she likely wouldn't have been able to go to college unless she'd earned a scholarship. Her mother, Monica had earned too much to have help from the government, but not enough to be able to save for school.
Monica and Dallas did in time start dating. At first things were a bit rocky. So much pain caused by the abuse on the transport made it difficult for Dallas and awkward for the both of them. But they both really liked each other and so they attended counseling together to learn how to have a healthy relationship. That also helped Monica be able to move on from her first husband and his tragic death and her toxic in laws.
They now have three lively children that were currently running around the room.
Margaret and Aurora both hid their giggles as the other servants do their best to corral the rowdy youngsters.
"It seems that your oldest son has decided that he wants to help the crown princess lead the people." Margaret whispers to Aurora as they watch the youngsters as they play.
Aurora smiles softly as her son looks at her daughter the same way Marcus looks at her. "He'll be a good king once Marcus decides to step down." Aurora nods and replies.
Margaret sniffs, "He's not going to step down for a long time yet. Plenty of time for the people to get used to Diana being in charge and not Marcus Junior."
Aurora giggles again. The people were rather upset when Marcus made it abundantly clear that Diana was the first born and so she will be the one inheriting the throne. They were even more dismayed when one of the servants spoke up using the Throne's voice and declared that Diana is her chosen for the throne.
Marcus Junior is more than happy to let his sister have the major headache of ruling and taking on the ancillary roles like his mother. He thinks that's more than enough work for him. Diana lovingly laughs at him when they talk about things.
What does make her sad is her youngest son. All his other siblings have paired up, some with Margaret's children, but they have all paired up, except him.
To their shock Karla had a daughter, but she was rather shy and didn't interact with her full royal siblings much.
Today was one of the days that she came to visit them. Aurora watches her worried, she is sitting alone on the window seat watching every one else have a good time. No one was talking to her or visiting her at all. This makes her sad. She's taught her children better than that, or at least she thought she did.
She watches as Keith breaks from the other siblings he'd been playing with and make his way over to Chelsea.
They are close enough that although there is noise in the room and they aren't talking too loud she can hear what they say. "Hey Chelsea, how come you aren't playing with any one?"
"I only came here because mother and father made me. I hate coming here because every one makes fun of me that I don't look like your mother or aunt. I look like father and I don't like the things they say about me." Chelsea says and it's painfully obvious that she's on the brink of crying.
"Who says that Chelsea?" Keith demands angrily.
Chelsea refuses to answer and just shakes her head. "Tell me who said such horrible things about you."
Chelsea refuses again but after some time Chelsea whispers some names and it's just loud enough for Aurora and Margaret to hear. They are both furious. They have both taught their children to be accepting of others and to find out that they have been bullying their sibling like that infuriates them.
"No, Keith, Margaret and I will handle this." Aurora tells her angry son. "Take Chelsea to the waterfall. Go swimming or have a picnic if you wish."
"Yes, mother, aunt Margaret." Keith offers Chelsea his hand and even as they are leaving they hear her giggling at something he said.
Margaret and Aurora go through the children and send them off to different things all except the ones that they want to talk to. "You five will come with us to my sitting room." Aurora says coldly furious at the remaining children.
The five look at each other with confused faces. They don't understand what they could've done to earn the queen's displeasure.
Once they make it back to the sitting room, Aurora sits and Margaret joins her after she calls Marcus to join them. The five stand moving restlessly in front of their mother and aunt as they wait for their father to join them.
Any time one of them starts to talk Aurora holds up her hand and they've learned a long time ago when she does that that you don't speak until given permission.
Marcus slips into the sitting room and sits between his wives. He gives them both a kiss before looking at his children. It is rare for Aurora to pull them aside for discipline, they must have done something to royally piss her off for her to do this now.
"Why are we here, love?" Marcus asks Aurora.
"Well it seems that your lovely children," all the children wince when she says this. It's never good when Aurora calls them Marcus's children and not hers, she claims Margaret's children as hers as well and doesn't treat them any differently than her own. "Have been bullying Chelsea. They've been mocking her and making fun of her because she doesn't look like me or Margaret and does look like you. She feels unwanted and unloved by her siblings."
Marcus looks at his children and can see the guilt on their faces. "Is this true?" He demands the truth from them and they reluctantly nod their heads.
"Marcus is an extremely good looking man and Chelsea is a delightful female version of him. Why would you mock her for this?" Margaret asks and specifically looks at her daughter that she suspects is the ring leader of the bullying.
"She doesn't look like us. She looks like the servants children that were fathered by dad. She doesn't belong with us." Eleanor replies haughtily.
"Those servant children are still your siblings and deserve to be treated with the same respect as you give your full blooded siblings and half blooded siblings from the queen. I am deeply disappointed in you, all of you, that you could do that. It is a good thing that you aren't going to the be the ones ruling."
"I have to say, that I, too, am deeply shocked and shamed that any of you could say anything like that about any of my children. I have never played favorites and wondered why Chelsea was always so reluctant to spend time with you all." Marcus is very angry and they could all see it and flinched back from him, but the one they are most wary of is the one that has yet to speak.
"Mother?" One of the other girls says hesitantly.
"I'm not sure that I should say anything at this time. I am deeply ashamed that any of my children would bully and harass another of their siblings. I have always taught you to be good and kind. Quite frankly it sickens me and disgusts me that any of you could do this to your sister. She is so sweet and kind. She is one of the most interesting people I've ever met and has a good heart.
"I'll be talking over your punishments with your father and mother. Unless they have something more to add you are dismissed to your rooms, without your phones, computers or televisions for the rest of the night. Your dinners will be brought to your rooms."
"Marcus?" Margaret asks softly.
"No, I have nothing more to say to these ungrateful children." Marcus replies coldly. Several of them have silent tears running down their faces. They all adore their father and don't like it when he berates them or is disappointed in them.
"I have nothing more to say to them at this time." Margaret says with a sneer at them.
The five children silently nod and make their way out of the door.
Once the door closes all three of the adults slump back against the couch back. "I never thought I'd see the day my own children would turn on their siblings like that." Margaret whispers in disbelief. "They didn't even deny it, which is good."
"It will keep the punishment from being stronger, that's true." Aurora says thoughtfully. "It's a good thing you're only having twins this time and I'm only have triplets, but still after this I don't know..."
"It's not your parenting that's at fault. They've all been taught right and the majority of them didn't participate, that's a relief, but they knew what they were doing and that it was wrong. Eleanor, I noticed, has a habit of thinking that she won't be punished even when she knows she is doing something wrong.
"I've given her punishments but it doesn't seem to be working. Any ideas love?"
"Oh yes, I have a very good idea. They will be working as volunteers in the infirmary taking orders from Chelsea since Chelsea is in charge of all the volunteers. They'll be there for a month and at the end of that month they will be moved to volunteering to help the other servants and work under their siblings there. I will not put up with bullying, especially not when the people are looking at our kids and having their kids live up to them."
"How long do you wish to have them work under the servants?" Marcus asks more than happy with this solution.
"Two months, I have no doubt that your children under them suffered far more than Chelsea." Aurora states firmly.
Marcus nods in agreement. "Very well, I'll let Emmett and the other servants know that they will be able to expect Chelsea, Nora, Victoria, Madison and Georgia and when they will be expected to start."
"On the bright side, I think that Emmett might just get his wish. It seems that Keith is rather taken with Chelsea. He was ready to fight with his sisters there in the room when he found out. They are at the waterfall and I don't expect them back before dinner. Not even sure if they'll make it back in time for dinner."
Marcus smiles in delight. He had truly hoped that he would be able to comply with Emmett's wish. That and he loves his daughter by Karla very much. She is a very sweet and lovable girl and will make a wonderful wife. He thinks that Keith and Chelsea will make a lovely couple.
"I wouldn't go making wedding arrangements just yet. They are just turned fourteen and still have a lot of growing up to do. None of the children have had to grow up as fast as you both did not even as fast as I did and I know that mother and you protected me the best you could." Margaret warns them softly.
"Yes, you are correct, love, but it won't hurt to keep on eye on the two of them just in case." Marcus tells her before pulling her to him and giving her a kiss.
"Oh, I don't know, I wouldn't be surprised if she comes back pregnant tonight." Aurora tells them and gets up leaving the other two in shock as she leaves the room.
"You know, she is almost always right when she makes these kinds of observations," Marcus says sighing.
"Yeah, I know. You might want to get ready for Marcus Junior and Diana announcing their pregnancy. I saw how they look at each other and I swear it's you and Aurora all over again. I haven't actually seen them kiss, but if I've seen it you know that Aurora has as well." Margaret warns her husband of the potential future marriage.
Marcus smiles. He'd hoped that those two would get together, it would help lower tensions with those that feel that the throne should be ruled by a male no matter what.
Aurora calls out from her room, "You won't go telling any one else about them until they come to us about getting engaged or being pregnant first. Let them have their fantasy that nobody knows about them.
Marcus and Margaret laughingly agree.
