Marcus does his best to show Aurora that she is of primary importance in his life. Almost to the point that he ignores Margaret.

"Margaret," Marcus says coming up to her in the library.

"Well hello there stranger, get enough of my mother?" Margaret teases him.

Marcus blushes and looks down ashamed. "It's alright, Marcus. Even if I didn't get to participate it was quite lovely." Margaret says with a wicked light in her eyes.

"Minx. I came to apologize to you. I've ignored you far too much in an effort to make your mother feel more special. By doing so I've neglected to get your ideas on the wedding."

Margaret smiles at his discomfort. "I really don't give a shit. Is that terrible to say? I just don't care. I love you and so does my mother. I love that you care for her enough to take the time to make her feel special. I know that the transport is due in tomorrow and that there is someone you are supposed to take as a mistress or wife."

"Aurora told you that?" Marcus exclaims in shock. He didn't think that Aurora had told anyone but him.

"Yeah, I was in the room when she woke up from talking to the throne remember? Besides mother talks to me just about everything."

"I don't want to, you must believe me." Marcus says almost desperately.

"I do. I know you feel for her much more than you feel for me. The way you touch her, it's damn near magical. If you could you would say the hell to everyone and just be with her. I am well aware of that. I'm leaving the wedding decisions to you and her because it is your day, I'm just there out of necessity."

"You mean more than that to me and I know your mother would have no problem killing to protect you."

"Yes, I know that mother loves me, and I believe that you do care for me, just not like you do my mother. You love me, but are in love with her. I also know that you've been doing all that you can to make her feel that love and that she's very important to you.

"I approve and hope you keep doing that." Margaret says smiling happily at him.

"You don't mind that I haven't been paying attention to you?"

"Not if it means that you've been paying attention to my mother." Then the smile falls a bit. "I'm not sure how things will be once you add in the new female or females. I'm sure that the throne will more or less make you take more than just the one she warned mother about."

"Yes, she's doing a good job at cornering me into accepting the unknown female. There are times I wish that Garrett had been the chosen one."

"You don't really mean that, Marcus?" Margaret says astounded.

"Oh, yes. Because then it would mean that I could be with just your mother and I wouldn't have to be with others."

"If Garrett had been the chosen then he would have made me one of his wives or mistresses and he would have done the same to Margaret. He wouldn't have let you have me and he would have continued the abuse your father gave me. I would rather have to share you and have you be in charge than Garrett any day any time." Aurora says coming over to the other two.

She wraps her arms around Marcus and he holds them to him. She lays her face on his back. "I came to tell you that the transport ship is coming down. They made better time than they had estimated. They should be here in a couple of hours."

Aurora can feel him tense up at her words.

"It's okay, Marcus. I have to share you, but you have convinced me that I'm not just one of potentially many. As long as you keep that up I'll be alright.

"I've been told some more about the female. She's Margaret's age."

"What? That's not possible. Only single females were sent or were to be single to be brought here. If she had a child her mother shouldn't have been sent."

Aurora laughs mockingly. "More than one female was volunteered to come by family that didn't want them. Or perhaps it was the government that decided they needed to go. Didn't matter, not all females left willingly and more than one had a child when they entered the transport. It is very possible that she had a four year old daughter when she entered the transport and it's likely that she will have had more than one child since."

"That is truth for many if not most of the females, the having children part at least." Margaret says thoughtfully.

"All the families will be kept together. Children will be going with their mother's and if there are father's they will be kept with them as well as much as possible." Marcus says heavily. He feels a great deal of weight on his shoulders at this time.

"Good, they've already suffered enough. Thank you, Marcus."

"You know, mother that that will mean that the woman's mother and other siblings will have to be chosen by Marcus as well." Margaret says softly. That makes Marcus tense up once more.

"I know. I've known for some time that he'll have to take at least another mistress more than this one. If the children are girls he'll likely take them as his mistresses as well."

"What the hell? Are you making my decisions for me?" Marcus demands not sure if he should be amused or angry at their words.

"Marcus, other than her and her family we won't be making any decisions as to the females you bring in. Of those you choose, well, if you would like other mistresses then we'll look over the ones you've chosen as servants and decide which we could handle as your mistresses. But the ultimate decision will be yours. You will be expected to get them all pregnant at least once any way." Aurora says unhappily. She's not happy but at least she can deal with it.

"I can also get them pregnant by artificial insemination. That is what I plan to do with all but those chosen to be mistresses and if you press I'll take another wife, but not willingly."

"I'm not the one wanting you to take another Marcus. I'm not the one that will be pressing you to do so."

Marcus turns around and pulls her back to him. "I know, I'm sorry. I'm not ready for another to come into our lives. I'm more than happy with you and Maggie."

Aurora lifts one eyebrow, "Maggie? Since when did you start calling Margaret by that name?"

"Just now, although she gave me permission to do so some time ago."

Aurora looks at Margaret incredulously, "You told me in no uncertain terms that I was not to ever call you by that name ever."

Margaret looks at her mother and smirks, "Yeah, but he's not you. You get his love and he gets to call me Maggie."

"Margaret-"

"No, it's okay mother. I'm fine with the love you both give me. I am just happy that I won't have to marry some pig bastard. Marcus is a delight to look at and is a good man too. Not a whole lot of them are. I know that you will always come first in his affections and I'm content that he treats you like he should, like you deserve." Margaret cleans up her books and excuses herself to put them away.

"She's right you know." Marcus speaks up breaking the silence that had started getting more than a little oppressive.

"What?"

"You do get my love. I love you, Aurora, more than I ever thought it would be possible to love another."

"You love me?" She whispers astounded at the words she never thought a male would say to her.

"Yes, more every day I get to know you. In six weeks we'll be getting married and coronated and I can't wait to be bound to you and you be bound to me."

"Wait, if you are bound then you wouldn't be able to get any one else pregnant."

Marcus smiles sadly. "No, it will be a modified binding since I am being forced to take others. I would have happily been fully bound to you. It is something that I dream about."

"Hey, no need to be sad, Marcus. Some people just aren't meant to have what they desire most. You have more."

Marcus gives her a bitter laugh. "I would happily give away the more if I could just have you. But come, let's go to the air field and watch the transport come in. Then in ten years there will be one more and then no more. Hopefully that will be enough for us by then."

"Hopefully there will be many females to be born then." Aurora says taking the arm Marcus holds out for her to take.

"Speaking of females being born. Emmett has asked that if he has a boy that he be allowed to marry my daughter."

"What if he has a girl himself?"

"Then he hopes that I will have a son that he can marry in alliance."

"Karla's child is your child, Marcus. It has already been acknowledge as such."

"Yes, but not of the direct line, that will be through you. He wishes an alliance with a direct line descendant."

"The hell I'll force any of my children into a marriage they don't wish. Karla's child will be brought to the nursery the same as your other children. If at that time two of them grow close together and wish marriage then we can talk about an alliance, not before then." Aurora says adamantly. There's no way she would ever make her child marry someone they don't wish like she had been forced to do the first time round.

"Very well, I'll let him know." Marcus says mildly. He has no problems with what Aurora told him. It makes sense to him, especially having watched the forced marriages between the Earth females and his people. Very few of them are happy about it.
