The Bells are Ringing Out
Dylan POV
Christmas. My least favourite holiday. I think it's a commercialised season for shops to get as much money as they can. You could say i'm a scrooge and i wouldn't disagree with you. I haven't always been this way though; before Sam left i would look forward to the day of great company, gift giving and goodwill. Now it's just me and Dervla and as much as i love her i miss the human company over Christmas. I just have the Doctor and he's only in the room for an hour.
I tucked my scarf tighter around my neck and braced the nipping chill. All this trouble for a bottle of port. A couple of lonely flakes began to fall from the sky and i sighed, watching the cloud of condesation cling in the air. I passed a couple of streets and saw the lights illuminating the houses. It's not that i don't appreciate the effort, it just doesn't bring me joy... not like it use to. I walk by watching the people with their families or the couples doing some last minute preperations and then there was me. The man who's grudigingly facing festive spirit for a bottle of port to drink alone on Christmas day. Tired of wallowing in self pity i hurried my pace. I noticed there was more people near the centre. The sound of Once In Royal David City ricocheted through the square and a very dull, ebbing warmth surged through me. It sounded like a reasonably large choir but i only seemed to be listening to one voice. Intrigued, i wandered over to the symphony and joined the couple of other people that had gathered to watch singing. The oldest seemed to be a man with a kind face and white hair, there was one with glasses, a shorter blond haired woman holding hands and sharing a folder with a man with a quiff. However, a man with mahoganny unkept curls seemed to catch my eye. He looked at me and smiled and returned with a small smile. I listened intently and the hymn ended and it sent me tumbling back to my miserable reality. Giving one last look to the man with curls and turned my back and walked back into the crowd
"I don't want a lot for christmas, there is just one thing i need. I don't care about the presents, underneath the Christmas tree." That was his voice - i recognised it. I slowed my pace but carried on walking.
"I just want you for my own, more than you could ever know. Make my wish come true..." The voice was loud, almost near, i turned around to see the man with the curls standing behind me singing. His hand was held out to me
"All i want for Christmas.... is you." He smiled. All logic and sensibility went out my head and i grabbed his hand and he clasped it gently. What ever happened to "don't talk to strengers."?
"Come on, join the choir." He smiled sweetly and i couldn't resist once i slipped into those glorious eyes. People were clapping and quielty cheering as i walked on the small stage that was set up in the square. I'm not going to deny you, when you're married to Sam you learn all the lyrics to every Christmas song out there. We went through some of the classics and some of the modern and it all gave me a sense of community.
Singing with him, in a choir on Christmas eve with the snow falling around us, i couldn't have asked for a better Christmas present.
From that day onwards, i was never alone for christmas.

HAPPY CHRISTMAS! I have been a bit rubbish wth the "i'll update loads for christmas and i never do because it turns out i'm busy or i procrastinate or i don't think i'm great but oh well" so i'm glad i could give you all at least one Christmas present. And once again my New Years resolution will be to update more! Don't hold me to that.
I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Love you all very much ♡ xxx
