Boundless limits
I have no idea what this is... probably some literary spurt inspired from the song To Build a Home by the Cinematic Orchestra. This isn't great one shot wise but i'm kind of proud of it for meaning. Some people might find it a bit home hitting and get upset. Writing has no limits and sometimes i forget that so this was my release of my pent up English.
This is from Dylan's POV and it's feelings about Lofty and his boyfriend.
You pretend that no one knows how it feels even though you know full well that people do. You pretend no one knows what it's like to see someone you love kiss someone else s lips, when they should be kissing yours, even though people do. You pretend that no one knows the soul eating pain in your chest when you see him giggle at a joke, that should have been yours, even though people do.
You pretend that you're happy, even though people know your not.
It's painful to see every second tick by knowing that's every second you spend without their love. It's crippling and you know that there's nothing you can do. Maybe that one day but they've moved on and you should have but you can't. There's those delicate yet unyielding strings that never let you go. They break the skin and let the love and jealousy seep in. It seeps in from outside; where everyone is living their lives and you're standing stock still in love. You stand in that position for as long as you let yourself. That's the problem: you can end up setting. Never moving, never changing, never loving another.
Sometimes staying still works. Sometimes your wishes are granted and you live victorious in the hazy horizon but it doesn't work like that. You know that it's not the same for you. When is life ever so generous. No. Never. That's why you watch the films and you know they lie, and the books and the posters. The truth is revealed in one, innocent, spillage of the soul. You know you're engraved to deep to ever get back out.
So when he asks if you're fine, you say "yes" because there's nothing else you can say anymore.
