Epilogue. 1891
Six years of a happy marriage. Six years of growing a beautiful family. Six years of love and laughter.
Standing in the doorway of the nursery of Devonshire Park, James and Eliza couldn't help but feel blessed. They were happily married and had four incredible children. They were so very fortunate.
Their oldest was five-year-old David Charles Dalton. With dark brown hair and brown eyes, he was the spitting image of his father. He was very sweet and sensitive, always making sure everyone had a smile on their face.
Next came four-year-old Margaret Amelia Dalton. With blonde curls and caramel brown eyes, she was an exact replica of her mother. She was kind and compassionate, and loved playing with her siblings.
Finally, there were the three-year-old twins, Alexander James Dalton and Caroline Elizabeth Dalton. Like their older brother and sister, they possessed their mother and father's features perfectly. They were a bit rambunctious at times.
Rebecca and her husband Arthur came to visit James and Eliza whenever they could. They had three children of their own, Michael, Edward, and Lillian. Arthur was the second son of the Earl of Munster.
Margaret adored being a grandmother to her seven grandchildren. She loved spoiling them with treats cuddles and kisses. She always made sure to teach them that there was much more value in family and friendship than any material possessions.
Eliza continued solving cases, returning pieces of jewelry that had been stolen to their rightful owners. She was proud of herself for not allowing her gender to discourage her from doing what she loved. She enjoyed being a private detective, but loved being a wife and mother even more.
James smiled, kissing her cheek. "I love you my darling. I am so happy to call you my wife and the mother to our children."
Eliza returned his smile. "I love you more my dearest. And I am equally as happy to call you my husband and the father to our children."
They smiled as they watched their children laugh and squeal as they ran around the nursery. They were happy and at peace, counting their blessings every day. They had no idea that their romance would begin the night they met at Donna Luna. But it did, and it all began when a duke met a detective.
