Chapter 6

Lizzy was in her room, pacing back and forth. She couldn't believe that someone would take an entire deck. TWO entire decks. What on earth could someone want with two decks? She kept thinking of that question after school and now she's pondering what to do next. Her brother came to the door of her room and knocked.

"There are people at the door," Jarod said. Lizzy nodded and ran downstairs. At the front door was William, Melody, and Ryan. She went up to them and asked with desperate eyes,

"Any luck?"

"No," Ryan replied with a sigh. "The freshmen we talked to know nothing and we can't ask the juniors or seniors." Lizzy sighed in discontentment.

"Then there's only one way we can help," William announced. He turned to the house across the street. The rest of the group sighed. This was the last thing they wanted to do...

"Are you sure?" Melody asked with a small quiver.

"Positive!" William exclaimed. "It's the only option left on the table." The others glanced at each other and nodded in agreement. They ventured outside to the house, which was red in color. The group got to the front door, still a little shaky.

"Who wants to ring the door bell?" Ryan asked the gang.

"I'll do it," Lizzy volunteered. She calmly pushed the doorbell button. The noise the button made terrified Melody, so she hid behind Lizzy.

"Who is it?" someone asked from the inside.

"It's a bunch of friends," William answered with ease. The person opened the door a little and the group saw that Joey answered the door.

"Hey, whatcha guys doing here?" he asked. The group was silent for a moment but Lizzy said,

"We wanna help the situation."

"You sure you're up for it?" he questioned, knowing exactly what she was talking about.

"Yes," Ryan replied plainly. "But we need to know what happened. Can you please tell us?"

"Sorry guys," Joey said sadly. "Yugi and Yami are still a little tense. Maybe you guys can come back later." He then closed the door. The group stood there in despair. They wanted to help...

"Let's try again tomorrow," Lizzy told the others. They agreed and began to walk back to Lizzy's house. Lizzy glanced back and saw Yami staring at them from a window. She did a little wave to him and turned to the others.

"Maybe asking about it the same day it happened was a bad idea," Melody sighed.

"But we can't back down!" Ryan exclaimed. "We have to keep trying!"

"True," Lizzy said. The group got to the house and went inside.

"Did it work?" Jarod asked when they got in.

"No," the gang replied.

"Don't worry!" James smiled. "I'm sure there's another way." He went over to his room when suddenly, the phone rang loudly in the house. Jarod ran to get the phone and answered it.

"Hello?" he said. "...yes, she's home. I'll put her on." Jarod yelled for Lizzy and she dashed over to him. He gave her the phone.

"Hello!" Lizzy exclaimed on the phone.

"Hello. Something wrong?" Lizzy's eyes widened. The voice on the other line was Yami.

"Um hi!" she replied nervously. "What do you mean by something's wrong?"

"It's exactly what I mean. You and your friends were here earlier. Is something wrong?"

"Oh, it's nothing..."

"You sure?"

"Y-yeah!" The phone line got silent.

"Who is it, Liz?" Ryan asked. Lizzy mouthed out the name and the group's jaws dropped.

"They told you about the incident, didn't they?" Yami said on the phone, a little irritated. Lizzy took one cleansing breath and said,

"Maybe..." She heard him sigh on the other line. "I'm sorry...." she said. The other line hung up and Lizzy grew a little scared.

"Is he coming?" Melody asked quickly.

"I don't know..." Lizzy answered, hoping that nothing bad will happen. The house's doorbell rang.

"That was fast," William noted. The group ran to the door and opened it. Yami stood there with his arms crossed.

"I need a good reason," he said plainly. "A good reason for me to tell you what happened."

"We have two," William replied. The rest of the group looked at him in surprise. "The first is that we're friends," he began, "and friends help each other out." The visitor was silent, waiting for him to continue.

"The second is the fact that we play the game too," Lizzy finished.

"You play?" Yami asked, a little shocked. The gang showed him their decks. He chuckled and said, "I guess I'm in the company of many duelists, aren't I?"

"Pretty much!" William exclaimed. Yami uncrossed his arms and smiled.

"Can I come in?" he asked.

"Yeah!" Lizzy said. The group let their friend in and closed the front door.

"Anyone want some water!" Jarod shouted from the kitchen.

"ME!!" Ryan screamed loudly. The gang turned to their loud friend.

"Dude, that hurt my ears!" William said, putting his hand on one of his ears. "You didn't need to yell that loud."

"Well excuse me! I didn't need a comment from you!" The two started to argue about it while the others walked to the living room.

"Those two remind me of Joey and Tristan," Yami chuckled.

"Hooray!" Lizzy cheered. "Someone else understands when two idiots argue over something stupid!!"

"What?!" William and Ryan yelled. The others laughed.
