51. You've Got The Love
Sometimes, it seems the goin' is just too rough
And things go wrong, no matter what I do
Now and then, it seems that life is just too much
But you've got the love I need to see me through
Jughead and Amethyst woke up early the next morning. Well, Amethyst woke up early the next morning, much to her surprise, and had to wake Jughead up by smacking a pillow in his face multiple times. After Jughead got up and the two got changed, they rode Demarcus' motorbike, which Amethyst hadn't given back yet, to the police station.
As soon as they entered, however, Jughead moved to stand in front of Amethyst. "I want to talk to him on my own," he told her.
Amethyst frowned in worry. "Are you sure you don't want me as company?" She asked.
Jughead shook his head. "I don't want you anywhere near him," he said. "And I'm good at telling when he's lying anyway."
Amethyst sighed deeply before weaving her arms through Jughead's so that she could hug his midsection. "I'll be right out here if you need me," she told him.
Jughead hugged her back. "I know you will be," he told her, before he let go and walked off with a police officer.
Amethyst let out a big sigh before walking over to a bench and sitting down. She didn't know how long Jughead would be, but she didn't mind either because this could quite possibly be the last time he will talk to his dad.
Her phone began to vibrate in her pocket, and Amethyst pulled it out to see that Mary Andrews was calling her. Amethyst instantly pressed the accept button and held it to her ear.
"Any good news?" Amethyst immediately asked her.
"Well, between FP's list of priors, the anonymous tip and the possession of the murder weapon...." Mary said.
Amethyst sighed. "And his confession."
"....things look pretty bad," she said. Amethyst gave a big sigh of defeat as she slouched in her seat. "I was down at the station all night last night with FP, and he never once budged from his story."
"This is going to kill Jughead," Amethyst said quietly. "I gave him hope that there was a possibility that his dad was innocent, and now this is going to crush him."
"Oh, and who is Joaquin DeSantos?" Mary asked.
Amethyst frowned. "Kevin's boyfriend?"
"Yeah, he was FP's one phone call," she said.
"I'll tell Betty and Mrs Cooper and they'll be onto it," Amethyst told her.
Mary sighed from the other line. "Amethyst, you might want to get Jughead to go see his father. Get him to tell him everything he wants to say, because once FP's arraigned, things tend to move pretty quickly and there won't be anything left to do. So, this may be his last chance."
Amethyst sniffed and rubbed her nose. "Yeah, we're already at the station. Jughead's talking to his dad right now."
"Oh, good," Mary said. "Now, don't let Jughead out of your sight as soon as he returns back to you." Amethyst was about to question why when she continued, "Teenagers tend to go a bit rogue when their parental figure gets taken to jail. Some kids at school might make him feel like an outcast, so just stay with him and make sure he doesn't do anything rash, okay?"
Amethyst nodded. "Yeah, okay. He won't leave my sight."
Mary sighed in relief. "Good, good," she said. "Now, I have to go. I'll see you around."
"Yep. Bye." Amethyst hung up her phone and then instantly texted Betty and Archie about Joaquin.
Jughead walked out at that moment, and Amethyst instantly sprung to her feet. "How was it?" She asked him.
Jughead grabbed a hold of Amethyst's elbow and pulled her to the corner of the room, away from police officers prying eyes.
"You were right," Jughead said quietly. "He's hiding something."

Amethyst and Jughead instantly headed to the school, meeting Betty there. They wanted to knock off the loose ends of the murder investigation, and actually knuckle down on the main suspects.
When Amethyst walked into the Blue and Gold room and spotted Betty, she hurried over towards the girl and enveloped her into a hug. Betty sighed as she hugged the girl back, resting her chin on her shoulder.
"Are you alright?" Amethyst asked her. "About the whole being a Blossom thing?"
Betty nodded. "Yeah. Came to me as a bit of a shock, but I don't think anyone is more disgusted by this than Polly."
Amethyst chuckled as she pulled away. "Does it count as incest?"
Betty smiled lightly. "According to Clifford, they're like third cousins."
Amethyst hummed in response, finding the situation totally weird before the two girls turned towards Jughead who was standing in front of the murder board.
"My dad has been lying to me his whole life, but he's never been any good at it," Jughead told them, before sighing. "I saw it in his eyes. He didn't do it."
"Well, then why lie?" Betty asked.
"Who was he protecting?" Amethyst questioned.
"Okay. Who can we rule out?" Jughead asked.
"My dad," Betty said, removing his photo from the board. "We know why he was acting so shady. Hermione," she removed her photo. "Veronica says she's guilty of plenty, but not murder."
"And she was in New York at the time," Amethyst piped up.
"I guess that just leaves Hiram Lodge...."
"And Clifford and Penelope Blossom," Amethyst finished.
Alice Cooper then walked into the room, and instantly noticed the murder board.
"Well, what do we have here?" She asked. "You three just can't leave well enough alone, can you?"
"Mom, we know what you're gonna say," Betty told her, crossing her arms.
"The police found another dead body," she said.
Jughead frowned. "Okay, maybe not that."
"A Southside Serpent, and Sheriff Clueless is convinced that he was working with your father," Alice told them. "He allegedly committed suicide by overdose, and there was a bag of money on-site that links him to Hiram Lodge. Everything is tied up into a nice little bow. Too tidy, if you ask me."
Betty's phone then began to ring, so she answered it and walked to the other side of the room.
"Kevin?" She answered. It was silent for a few moments, and Jughead and Amethyst smiled lightly at each other to ease the tension. "Uh...okay. Pick me up from school."
Betty hung up and walked back to the trio. "Kevin said that FP told Joaquin to hide something that may lead to us knowing who killed Jason," she said. "And I know where it is."

Jughead and Amethyst rode to the old Riverdale boarder on Demarcus' bike, and Betty caught a ride with Kevin after Kevin arrived at school with his car.
Jughead and Betty shined their torches as they looked around the old Riverdale boarder in search of a bag or something that was used to hide evidence. "Whatever it is we're looking for, Joaquin didn't know if it'd help your dad or make things worse," Kevin said.
"Well, I'll guess we're gonna find out," Betty replied. "And why did he wait so long to tell us?"
"FP called him from jail. Told him to forget about their plan, some contingency plan," Kevin replied. "He said it was too dangerous."
"What if there's like another dead body out here?" Amethyst asked. "Because I don't think I'd be able to handle that."
"Déjà vu," Jughead mumbled as he shined his torch on the old 'Blossom Maple Farm' sign.
Amethyst looked around the area before spotting a navy blue bag. "It's here," she said, pointing at it.
Jughead bent down to move some of the branches that was hiding it away before dragging the bag out.
"How did you find that without a torch?" Kevin asked Amethyst.
"I have one-hundred/twenty vision," she replied.
Jughead unzipped the bag and pulled out a varsity jacket. Everyone uneasily looked between each other as Kevin shined his torch on the word 'Jason'.
