32. Unsteady
But If you love me, don't let go (hold)
Whoa, if you love me, don't let go (hold)
Hold, hold on, hold onto me
'Cause I'm a little unsteady
Amethyst decided to wait back for Betty as she wanted to apologise for not telling her, and Jughead decided to stay as well to be the emotional support. Even though Amethyst insisted that she didn't need one.
Betty walked out of her sister's room and smiled lightly. "Polly's finally asleep," Betty said, then sighed. "What a mess."
"I should've told you about Demi, Bets," Amethyst told her. "You've told me everything you've been going through and I should've done the same."
"So why didn't you?" Betty asked.
Amethyst licked her lips as she glanced at Jughead. "We were ashamed," Jughead said.
"Amie, Jug," Betty smiled lightly. "We're friends. I want to know who you are and any problems you want to talk about. All of it."
"Okay," Amethyst smiled.
"Okay," Betty smiled back. "But, we should probably talk to your dad, Jug, and Demarcus. They might know something about Jason."
"Demarcus wouldn't have had anything to do with it," Amethyst said, then looked between the two. "Would he?"

Jughead used his dad's truck to drive Amethyst and Betty to his dad's trailer. When Jughead opened the door, Amethyst could instantly see the beer bottles that littered the floor.
"Jughead, Amethyst," FP greeted as he stood up and walked over to them.
"Hey, FP," Amethyst greeted, before noticing her Brother on the couch. She rose an eyebrow. "And Demi?"
Demarcus chuckled as he stood up. "Surprised to see you here."
"Dad, Betty Cooper," Jughead said. "Betty, this is my dad and you obviously already know Demarcus, Amethyst's Brother."
Betty smiled politely. "Hi, Mr Jones. Nice to meet you officially." She shook his hand.
"And you," FP replied.
Betty then smiled at Demarcus. "Good to see you again, Demarcus."
Demarcus nodded with a smirk. "Great to see you," he said. Betty went a bit pink in the face.
FP cleared his throat. "Why don't you guys sit down?" He asked, moving some pillows on the couch so that they could sit.
"This isn't really a social call," Jughead told him.
"No, I didn't expect it would be after Archie showed up at the bar," FP said.
Demarcus chuckled. "Punk reckoned he could fight me."
Amethyst raised an eyebrow. "But I can fight you," she told him.
Demarcus nodded. "That's because you're sneaky. He's a buff jock who goes for the typical punch to the face."
Amethyst nodded in agreement.
"We know the Serpents had some kind of drug thing going on with Jason Blossom," Jughead said.
"What?" FP asked. "Where'd you hear that?"
"Jason's girlfriend," Jughead said at the same time as Betty said, "My sister," and Amethyst said, "her sister."
FP sighed as he rubbed his hands over his face. "The kid needed some money to get away," he said. "A clean-cut kid like that, no one's gonna suspect him of running, so we helped him and he helped us."
"Jeez, dad. Did you tell the cops that?" Jughead asked.
FP chuckled. "What do you think?"
"They know now because Polly told them," Amethyst told him.
"So if they haven't been by yet, they will be," Jughead told him before turning his back.
"Did you speak to Jason? Personally?" Betty butted in.
"My guys gave him some product," FP said. "When it wasn't delivered, we figured he took off with our stash, until--"
"Until Jason's body was found at Sweetwater River," Demarcus said.
Jughead turned back around to his dad and looked at him, hesitant to ask him the one question he had been wondering for a while.
FP noticed, as he raised his eyebrows up at his son. "Anything else you wanna ask?" He asked.
"Did you have anything to do with Jason Blossom's death?" Jughead asked.
A flash of disbelief crossed FP's face, and Demarcus rose an eyebrow up at FP. "You really think I could do that?" He asked.
"It's the Dark Ages, Dad," Jughead explained. "I don't really know what to think anymore."
FP's face softened at his son's face, because Jughead really didn't know whether or not his father had anything to do with the murder of Jason Blossom.
"I'm not a perfect father, Jughead. No getting around that," he met his son's gaze. "But I'm no killer."
Jughead nodded at his words before Amethyst glanced at Demarcus. Demarcus held his hands up in surrender. "Hey! I had nothing to do with Blossom. I didn't even know the kid."
Amethyst playfully rolled her eyes at her brother's assumption. "I didn't think you did, dumbass. I was just looking at you."
"Sure, sure," Demarcus smirked.
"Alright," FP said, standing up from his seat on the couch. "You kids better get going. It is a school night."
Betty nodded and smiled at FP. "Well, it was nice meeting you, Mr Jones."
FP smiled. "You too, Betty." Then looked at Jughead and Amethyst. "See you two."
Amethyst smiled. "Bye FP, bye Demi."
Jughead nodded at his dad and then led the way out of the trailer. Amethyst frowned at his reaction before catching up to his speed walk and grabbed onto his hand.
"Juggy, you alright?" Amethyst asked.
Jughead sighed as his answer and Amethyst stopped walking and stepped in front of him. Betty scratched the back of her neck, realising that she was third-wheeling in a moment, and decided to walk to the car.
Amethyst looked into Jughead's broken and conflicted eyes. She could tell he wanted to believe what his father told him, but part of him also wasn't sure whether to. "Do you believe him?" Amethyst asked him.
Jughead nodded. "I do. Do you?"
Amethyst knew Jughead wanted her to say yes. He believed everything Amethyst told him, whether it was crazy or not. If she said she didn't believe what FP said, Jughead's belief in his father would diminish. Because Amethyst was always right in his eyes, even though she had to change her thought on some subjects just to make him happy. But in this case, she did believe FP. She believed that he wouldn't just kill a boy his son's very age. It wasn't something FP would do.
"Yeah, I believe him," Amethyst smiled lightly before placing a hand on Jughead's cheek. "And you should believe him. He's your dad, Juggy."
Jughead sighed and nodded, putting his belief into his dad. Even after everything he had done. Because in the end, he was still his dad.

Amethyst and Jughead hesitantly entered the Andrews household. They didn't know whether or not they would be greeted straight away by Archie, and they sure as hell didn't want to be.
Fred smiled at the two and nodded towards the stairs. "He's up in his room," Fred said, then patted Jughead's shoulder. "He'll believe you guys. You're best friends after all."
Amethyst smiled and then the two made their way towards Archie's room. Archie was sitting on his desk chair with his back facing the door, playing a random tune on his guitar. However, he stopped playing when he heard footsteps enter his room.
"We should've trusted you. There's no excuse," Jughead began. "I was afraid that the Serpents, my dad and Amethyst's Brother were behind those messed-up things. I didn't want to believe that was true. I mean, he's my dad, Archie."
"And Demarcus is the only family member I have left," Amethyst told him.
"I get that. I do," Archie said. "But, guys, you can talk to me about anything. You're like....Jughead you're like my brother."
Jughead smiled. "Nice bro whisper, Archie." Archie chuckled. "You are my brother."
"What about me?" Amethyst said with a hand against her heart. "Aren't I your sister, Arch?"
Archie chuckled and nodded. "Yeah, of course you are, Amie. I was getting there."
Amethyst rolled her eyes. "Of course you were."
"We're here for you and your dad," Jughead told Archie. "So," Jughead glanced at Amethyst and then back at Archie. "What can we do?"
Archie sighed as he looked down at his hands. "Pray for a miracle."
