Every time I close my eyes I can touch the colors around me

"Mommy! Mommy!" Four year old Amethyst called, running up to her mother after playing in the garden with Demarcus. Dariela put down the dishes she was currently cleaning to look at her daughter.

"What is it, sweetheart?" Dariela asked.

"Demi was talking about a girl he met at school and he said that she's his soulmate," Amethyst said. "What's a soulmate?"

Dariela licked her lips before bending down so that she was her daughters height. She grabbed onto Amethyst's hands and smiled at her.

"It's a....Well, it's like a best friend but more," Dariela said. "It's the one person in the world who knows you better than anyone else. It's someone who makes you a better person....actually, they don't make you a better person. You do that yourself because they inspire you to be a better person."

"But how do they make you a better person?" Amethyst asked.

"They constantly make you happy and want to do the right thing for them," Dariela said. "A soulmate is someone who you can carry with you forever. It's the one person who knew you and accepted you....believed in you before anyone else did or when no one else would. They are someone who's a rock to you when you're sad, and will constantly make you smile and laugh. And no matter what happens, you will always love them and nothing could every change that."

"Mommy, do you have a soulmate?" Amethyst asked.

Dariela smiled lightly. "I did once. But they gave me two soulmates."

Amethyst frowned. "Who are they?"

Dariela grinned and began to tickle Amethyst's sides. "You and Demarcus of course," she said, chuckling at the giggling girl in front of her.

"Mommy! Mommy, stop!" Amethyst continued to giggle until Dariela released her hold on her.

"Do you have a soulmate, my sweet child?" She asked.

"Of course I do!" Amethyst said, grinning widely even though her front tooth was missing. "Juggy is my soulmate!"

Dariela chuckled. "What makes you think that?"

"Because everything you said before is what he does," Amethyst said before running off to the backyard again.
