15. I Found
I found love where it wasn't supposed to be
Right in front of me
Talk some sense to me

Every town has one. The spooky house that all the kids avoid. Ours was Thornhill, the Blossom family's mansion with its very own graveyard. And trapped within its walls, like some gothic heroine, was Cheryl Blossom, still grieving for her beloved brother, Jason. Linked in death, even as they were in life.
Jughead had set his alarm for 5:45 the next morning so the two could get ready for school before the teachers and students showed up. Jughead was use to getting up so early, but Amethyst pretty much screamed at him when he attempted to get her to move.
Rolling his eyes, Jughead walked to the locker room with a towel, soaps and fresh clothes for the day ahead.
Amethyst eventually woke up at 6:30 to find Jughead not beside her. Checking the time, and then cussing out loud, Amethyst quickly chose her clothes for the day and pretty much sprinted to the female locker room where the showers were.
She stripped down and took a quick shower before wrapping herself up in her towel and walking towards the sink. Amethyst was brushing her teeth when she heard someone enter the room. She thought that it was just Jughead, but was surprised to see Cheryl walking towards the brunette. Amethyst looked at her questionably before spitting her toothpaste into the sink and then rinsing her mouth.
"Why did you shower at school?" Cheryl asked, her face screwed up.
"My brother had to drop me off early to go to work and I didn't have time to shower," Amethyst replied. Lying had become an easy thing for her to do for years now.
Cheryl smirked at the mention of Amie's brother. "How is Demarcus, anyway?" She asked, licking her lips.
Amethyst screwed up her face and shrugged. "He's fine, thanks for wondering," she said.
Cheryl pulled a black envelope from her bag and handed it out to Amethyst. "You are invited to Jason's funeral. Please dress appropriately and try not to embarrass yourself," Cheryl said.
Amethyst nodded and read over the invite.
"And I still haven't thanked you for comforting me at the pep rally when I completely lost it in front of you and Veronica," Cheryl said, being all serious all of a sudden.
Amethyst nodded, finding it weird that Cheryl was actually bringing it up. "That's fine. I know what it feels like to lose a loved one," Amie said.
Cheryl nodded in understanding. "To thank you for it, I'm hereby inviting you to a sleepover at my house that I'm having the night before the funeral."
Amethyst shook her head, not liking the idea of being cramped up in the Blossom mansion with all of Cheryl's bitchy friends, knowing that they would just tease her the whole time.
"I'm fine, honestly. I don't want to intrude with your friends," Amethyst said, hoping that Cheryl would just drop the idea.
"Rubbish, you're coming! I may even invite Veronica if it makes you feel more comfortable," Cheryl said.
Amethyst bit her lip as she thought over it. "Only if Veronica goes...."
"Perfect! Be there at 6. We're having dinner so don't eat beforehand," Cheryl grinned and then strutted out of the room.
Amethyst stood there for a few seconds, frowning. "What the fuck was that," she mumbled, then continued to get dressed and brush her hair.
After doing that and picking up her pyjamas, Amethyst walked back out into the hallway, looked left and right for any sign of student or teacher, and then hurried to the cupboard where Jughead was standing. Amethyst threw her clothing inside and then grabbed her school bag quickly. Jughead closed up the cupboard's door and then the two of them began to make their way towards the journalist room where Betty told them to meet.
"Don't you find it fitting that you were placed into Slytherin on Pottermore and you're mom was in the South Side Serpents and your brother currently is?" Jughead asked.
Amethyst rolled her eyes and nudged him. "Oh, shut it."
They entered the room to find Betty and Kevin looking at the board Kevin must have just finished putting up.
"Hey, Aimz," Kevin grinned and Amethyst smiled.
"Hey Kev, Elizabeth," she smiled at Betty.
"Hi, Amie," Betty said. Amethyst walked towards the desk Jughead was leaning on and sat down beside him.
"Now, this is how my dad had his Jason Blossom murder board before it was trashed," Kevin said.
"Any leads on who did that? And what they were looking for?" Jughead asked.
"Nope. There was no fingerprints," Kevin said. "But they stole a bunch of files, background checks and all the video and audio tapes of police interviews."
"I'm just mind balling it here, but I'm guessing that whoever took down the murder board did it to protect the actual person who killed him. Maybe take the blame if they got caught," Amethyst said.
"That is a possibility, yes. My dad is currently going around people's homes and asking them where they were on Saturday night," Kevin said. "Most people are saying the drive-in, though, which is where majority of the town went."
The door suddenly opened and everyone's attention shifted towards a dark skinned boy who grinned at Betty.
"Hey, Betty," he smiled.
"Trev, hi," Betty smiled back.
Amethyst had a small smile on her face as she watched the interaction.
"Sorry to interrupt, but--"
"Oh, no. It's okay. We're just, ah, working on...." Betty tried to come up with an excuse.
"Our murder board," Jughead and Amethyst blatantly said. Trevor stared at the two with his mouth agape.
"Well, ah, I just wanted to make sure we're still on for tomorrow," Trev said to Betty.
"Absolutely. It's a date!" Amethyst raised her eyebrow. "I mean, I'll-I'll see you there. Bye," Betty laughed.
Trevor waved to the other three in the room. "See you," he chuckled and then walked out.
Betty turned to Kevin who had his eyebrows raised. "Going on a date with Trev? Does Mama Cooper know about that?" He asked.
"Kev, I'm not on house arrest," Betty replied. Amethyst hummed to signal that she knew Betty was lying. "Okay, she's out of town at a Women in Journalism spa retreat. Anyway, I mean--it's not a "date" date."
"Funny, because that's what you just called it," Amethyst said.
"You literally said, "it's a date"," Jughead said.
"That's just my cover," Betty said. "Really, it's an intelligence-gathering mission."
Amethyst tutted. "Leading a boy on so you could get inside scoop on Jason Blossom," Amethyst playfully narrowed her eyes. "Who are you and what have you done with Betty Cooper?"
"She is currently doing what is necessary to find out Jason's killer," Betty said. "Anyway, we should focus on the one thing we have access to that your dad doesn't; the kids at Riverdale High. You know, maybe Trev does know something about Jason that he didn't think was important."
Amethyst nodded. "You've got a point," she said.
"Exactly, you guys know I'm right," Betty said.
"Just don't lead him on too much if you don't have feelings for him," Amethyst said. "You shouldn't lead the poor guy on if you don't like him like that."
