Now, the weekends could go two ways when you were a librarian. A calm weekend, snuggled up with a book or on the couch playing video games. The other choice was sleeping all day Saturday and going out Saturday night with the librarians for drinks and dinner.

Sophia didn't usually go for drinks or dinner. She might have gone for apps with her coworkers once in a while, but normally she decided to stay home and play video games and read.

This weekend though, she decided to go out for drinks with the others. This time David had decided to take them out for a celebration. Sophia's four year anniversary with the library.

Brad had texted her that afternoon.

'Girl, what are you wearing? I wanna match!'

'im wearing jeans and my favorite sweater'

'your so lame 😑'

'oh whatevs 🤪'

An hour before she was gonna leave she got a message from Allen.

'Hey, do you mind if I pick you up? It's kinda chilly tonight'

Sophia had started developing a crush on the new security guard, and now it was gonna be hard to resist.

'Sure, what time?'

'I'll pick you up at 1730'

'👍'

She put her phone face down on the counter before finishing her chores. By the time 1730 rolled around she was finishing her laundry when the doorbell rang.

"Coming!"

She started her clothes and got to the door quickly, she opened it and saw Allen.

"Hey, am I too early? Should I let you change?"

"No, not at all! Nobody ever gets dressed up for drinks and dinner."

She smiled and grabbed her purse and slid into her flats.

"Okay, so I heard we're heading to The Blarney Stone Pub, it'll be busy tonight so let's hurry so we can get parking."

Allen nodded and they got out to his jeep. He opened the passenger door for her and then closed it before getting on the driver's side.

Once they had gotten to the pub, Sophia and Allen had asked the hostess about a reservation for David M. She led you to the table and Brad and Daniel were already there.

"Oooh, are y'all a thing now? Please tell me your a thing?"

Sophia chuckled and rolled her eyes while Allen looked puzzled.

"He's just kidding."

"So, Sophia, how ya feeling about being with us for 4 years?"

"I mean, it feels nice, but weird. I don't really know how to feel I guess."

She shrugged and in came their boss, David.

"You guys need a life! Your all 20 minutes early!"

"Yes, because your the only one who lived above the building behind here"

Brad chortled sarcastically. Dinner was great, they all ordered fish n chips, along with their choice of poison for their drinks. Brad ordered a coke and crown, Daniel ordered a Fuzzy Navel. Allen ordered a margarita, David ordered a whiskey sour. And Sophia ordered a moscow muil.

"Is Angelica joining us later?"

Sophia looked around.

"No, her and her fiance had plans for their anniversary. But she said congratulations to you."

David smiled and everyone raised their glasses to Sophia. She smiled softly and raised hers as well. After they finished eating and drinking they all headed out into the area to look around. Brad and Daniel went with some girls they met to 81, an arcade bar. David headed home, Allen and Sophia headed over to Zanbros to check out what they had.

Allen went and looked at the journals and pens while Sophia looked at the kitchen utensils, soaps, and candle bar in the back. An hour later she decided to buy a couple of candles and two bars of soap for her bathroom. Once she checked out she went over to Allen.

"Hey, I'm all done and checked out, did you find anything you like?"

"Huh? Oh yeah I did, but I can't afford it."

He smiled and they headed out, but Sophia stopped.

"Hey, I forgot one thing, I'll be right out!"

5 minutes later she came back out with another bag, they got to his car and he drove her back home. He walked her to her front door.

"So, I know you couldn't afford this, but I had a feeling you needed one"

She smiled and handed the journals that he had been looking at, he looked at her wide eyed and took them carefully, as if he was gonna break them.

"You didn't have to.."

"I know, but I wanted to."

She smiled and unlocked her door, they waved at each other and said good night before she finally got into her apartment. She set her bag on the counter and took her shoes off.

Was she finally developing a love for the security guard with the dark and troubling past? Was he finally developing a love for the quiet and kind librarian?
