3 Months Later

Sophia and Alan had been dating for three months now. And it was fun and exciting for both of them. What they didn't expect, was a third wheel in their relationship, Sandra.

Sandra was new to the library. She had started 3 months ago, around the same time Alan and Sophia had started dating. While they were working, she hung around them in the lunch room, even left when they left. 

"Hey Sophia, what are you and Alan doing this weekend?"

"Not much, probably gonna go downtown or to Falls Park to look at the lights."

It was past Thanksgiving, so we were trying to get ready for Christmas and the New Year.

"Do you think I could tag along?"

Sandra had a very girlish grin on her lips. A look pleading and trying to tell us, "I have no plans tonight, please invite me" eyes. Sophia sighed and shook her head.

"I'm sorry Sandra, but Alan and I wanna be alone tonight. Maybe ask Brad if he wants to do something."

Sophia smiled and went to go look for some books that had been put on hold. Sandra grimaced gently as she went to look for Alan. When she found him, she had all but cornered him in the break room.

"Alan!"

"Oh, hey Sandra."

"Hey, Sophia said I could come with you guys tonight to see the lights at Falls Park."

"She did? She didn't tell me anything about that... Sandra, I'd really appreciate it if you skipped this one tonight, I have something special planned for Sophia and me tonight Sandra."

Sandra looked like a puppy dog who got kicked for whining. Alan let out a sigh but wouldn't let up. This had been happening for a month if not longer. Sandra and Sophia had gotten close at work, but anytime Sandra had asked to join them in something that was personal or just for them as a couple, Sophia felt like she couldn't say no to her.

"Alan, come on-"

"I'm sorry Sandra, but it's a no tonight. Why don't you go out with Brad, or even Daniel?"

"Alright, Alright"

She backed off the subject, but she had an idea. Brad had asked her earlier that day if she had anything going on that night.

"Maybe..."

Her train of thought was derailed when Brad came in to get lunch.

"Oh, Sandra, hey have you thought about my question?"

"Oh, hey Brad. Yeah, I have. Where would you want to go?"

Brad thought for a moment. He didn't think she would have said yes to a date with him tonight. There was downtown, the mall, Falls Park, and more in the city.

"How does going downtown sound?"

"I'd love to, I heard Sophia and Alan are going downtown too I think, or to the falls."

"I could ask if they wanna do a double date-"

"No!"

She said abruptly.

"No, sorry. Alan said he had something planned for them."

Brad grinned.

"That's right, okay, let's meet over at the pub then"

"Okay."

She smiled and he went to lunch while she went to go get books and other things scanned into the system that had been returned. Alad had gone over to Sophia.

"Soph.."

"Hm? Oh hey honey."

"Hey, did you invite Sandra out with us tonight?"

"What? No, I told her I just wanted it to be you and I tonight... did she tell you I did?"

"Yeah, I thought as much, I just wanted to check. I told her that I had something planned in advance just for us. I think she got the message."

Sophia nodded as she grabbed a book she had been looking for.

"Is there anything specific I should wear tonight?"

"Why not the forest green dress you bought."

"Really?"

"Yeah, I got us a reservation at Maury's tonight. I want you to look beautiful, not for me. But for yourself."

"Maury's? Alan... you didn't have to-"

"I wanted to, tonight is gonna be special for both of us. I'll pick you up at 730 tonight, okay?"

She nodded and got back to grabbing the books she needed while Brad and Sandra talked in the back about their date that night. What was Alan planning? Was Sandra gonna keep her word and go on this date with Brad? Or would she flake him like all the other girls?
