Chapter 4

Chapter 4

The next morning, I was with my mother and Michelle in the back yard and I was just sitting there, writing what I see. It's a good practice for me to improve my novels, observing every little detail and describing it vividly. While I was writing, I saw a little ice bird fly over my shoulder, it kinda helped me since it cooled me down.

Ice....I realized that it might be Gray that made this, I turned around and saw him, holding a bouquet of roses, but it wasn't for me. He smiled at me and turned to my mother.

"Good morning, Mrs. Heartfilia." He smiled. I couldn't see my mother's reaction because her back was turned against me, but I could tell she was smiling as well.

"Good morning to you too, Gray." She stared at the flowers. "Are those the roses for Michelle's garden?"

"Yeah, pink, red and white roses, just as you ordered." He pulled up a different type of rose, different from the other roses he was holding. "I even found a rare green rose just for her garden."

As soon as Michelle heard that, she stood up and walked diligently towards Gray. I really have no idea why she isn't the one joining the D.C. She is more princess-like than I could ever be. More diligent, vibrant and far more lady like than me.

"Wow! I've heard of them, but I didn't really believe it was real." She said, staring in the bright green rose Gray was holding.

"It was lucky I came across it in the near by valley."

"Why were you in the valley? The nearest valley is still far from here, why go there to fetch roses?" Asked my mother.

"........I...I had somewhere to go and I suddenly found this valley full of flowers and decided to pick the roses you asked for. The flowers there are very beautiful, if I may say so." He smiled and that was a good enough answer for her, so she smiled as well.

"Really?" Michelle asked. "Well, if that's the case. I'm hoping to go there someday.."

"Oh! no, Michelle. That place is very dangerous and is full of monsters and magical beings." He warned.

"Actually, I don't think that's a problem for Michelle." I added, diving into the conversation. I winked at her, reminding myself of her beautiful breath taking powers. Michelle giggled softly.

"Even so." Gray said playfully.

"Well, thank you for the roses. Here's the money." Mother handed Gray the money for the task he was given. He shoved it in his pocket and smiled.

"Thanks." Then he turned around, back facing Mom and Michelle, but a bit facing me. He winked and smiled at me. I smiled a bit, controlling it so it won't look a bit obvious that I was happy about him here. Then he walked passed me, exiting through the front door.

I couldn't control my emotions, it was all mixing together. My happiness in seeing him today and my nervousness in remembering that I have to tell him about the D.C. I have to tell him....someday...

"Well, Lucy." Mother called as she stood up, patting her skirt. "Shall we submit your form now?"

"Oh, sure." I replied. "Just let me get changed." I smiled and ran up stairs, as I passed through a certain door. I paused and opened it. It was my big brother's room. It felt really nostalgic, but he grew stronger than all of us here. I'm actually proud of him. He has achieved more than any "E" could have. Well, he WAS an E, now he's higher than that, but I don't remember what.

I closed the door and went straight to my room to change into my normal look, the blue side ponytail, blue mini skirt, heart crux blouse, and tall boots. Of course, I couldn't forget the belt I wore that held my keys. As soon as I was fixed, I walked down stairs and saw my mother's hair neatly pinned up and was at the door waiting for me.

"Shall we go?" She asked.

I nodded and walked with her to the registration, where hundreds of girls flooded from the door. I blinked, and so did my mother.

"Well." She stated. "This is quite a crowd."

"You don't say...." We were both shocked.

"Well, it is the Dragon's Choosing, dear. Let's just hope your name gets picked even if it's random." She stated in encouragement, I really don't mind not getting picked. Then I could be together with Gray. Maybe even get married like I dreamed? Oh! I dream too much! As I waited at the end of the third line, there were three lines, and the doors were still flooded, a crowd of never ending girls.

As I observed the crowd, I saw a familiar blue hair. I turned around to see Jellal with...

"Jellal?" I asked and mother turned to him as well. "What are you doing here?"

"I'm registering these two for the dragon's choosing." He smiled like a child, happy and free without any worry at all. I looked down to see two twin kids all dressed up in a fancy dress, thick make up and very short haired twin tail. I had the feeling of a sweat dropping on me, feeling a second hand of embarrassment.

"And what do you plan on doing with them....?" I asked. I stoop down to the twin 'BOYS' Siegrain and Mystogan. Jellal was an E too, just like me so he's good at entertaining people. His whole family is just amazing. Not to mention their cool birthmark from their forehead going down to their cheek, and all three of them have it.

"And....you guys are okay with this.....?" I asked nervously as I focus at the thick foundation on their faces, uneven lipstick and mascara that went over their eyes. Looks like Jellal did this. Both of them nodded happily.

"Hell yeah!--I mean" The changed their deep voices. "----Of course we are!" They replied with a higher voice, so much similar to a female voice actually. You can never tell the difference when it comes to voices from these two. They're natural voice actors!

"Why are you doing this Jellal?" I asked. He smiled and chuckled.

"It could be a good joke for the prince. Haha!" He tipped his head back in laughing. "Don't you wonder what kind of reaction he'll have?"

I giggled back. "Go ahead then. I'm excited to see it too." I expected mom to scold us, but she didn't. She just watched our playful behavior towards each other.

I turned to the twins. "Well, if you're going through with this. I'll at least help you with you're hideous make-up!"

"Jellal did this to us!" Mystogan accused.

"What?!" Jellal bursted.

"See! I already told you, you suck at these things!" Said Siegrain. Then at the split second, Jellal sat down, sulking and drawing things on the dirt with his finger.

I laughed. "Oh come on you two, It's not half bad."

"Yeah???" He jolted up with hopeful eyes.

I smiled. "Yeah, I mean you two would've looked like mimes. Luckily, Jellal put lipstick on you. Now you two look like clowns." I joked. Then the twins dropped down to the floor, laughing out loud.

"Not you too, Lucy!!" Shouted Jellal comedically. Mom laughed too and so did I. All of us were really laughing.

"So," Jellal started. "I didn't expect you to enter."

"Yeah..." I played with the ribbon in my hair. I couldn't say anything, really didn't want to in front of my mother. So I just nervously laughed while fixing the twin's make-up.

"What if you get caught?" I asked. "Law is strict. If you get caught you might get a heavy punishment." I warned them.

"Oh, I've already thought of that. If they get caught, which isn't a probable prediction, I got a plan for that. So nothing to worry about." He chuckled again at his mischievous plan.

"Well, whatever it is you're planning. I'm hoping to be in the front row to watch it."

"You sure will. With your looks and all the things you've learned, it's not even a question if you get in or not."

"I don't think they'll consider it. I mean, it's in random right? Just picking the name out of a box." I stated.

"Oh, you didn't notice it yet?" He asked. "It's actually obvious that they'll be looking at it and choosing which is the best 35 girls. Why'd you think they asked for what languages you know and what instruments you can play, right?"

That hit me, of course! So that's why everyone was at their best in their outfit. I was clear that I was the only one wearing something this civilized even without makeup. Well, nothing to worry though. I'd be lucky if I wasn't picked actually. Then I could be with Gray, but...I need the money.

"Oh, what about Gray's step sister? Meredy, isn't she entering?" He shook his head in disappointment.

"She said she's going to help Gray save up money for something, I don't know." My ears twitched a bit when I heard the word 'save up' and here I am just thinking I was imagining us getting married and he's already saving up! Aw! I'm officially the most happiest girl in whole Earthland!

It took forever until we reached where we had to register. Mom handed them my form and instructed me to sit in front of a camera. Of course, she didn't instruct me to smile since I was already smiling from ear to ear. (Author: look at the picture, that's how she smiled.) I just couldn't hide my happiness! Is Gray going to propose to me?? Oh my gosh! I thought to myself.

As we went home, I still couldn't stop smiling. I must've looked like an idiot, but I don't care! What I look like is how I feel!

A few weeks after that, the news announced that in three days, the people who got chosen was being announced in the news as the Royal family will be in the studio as well, looking at the lucky girls. Hopefully, I might not get picked, but if I do, and the news switched from a light subject to a heavy topic.

"Another attack in the palace," The reporter stated, standing outside the palace walls. "The guards mentioned a guild raid."

"Another guild raid, in the palace?" My mother darted her attention to the TV. "My, my. It must be dangerous there."

Then a man, same age as my father, talked about how high the security of the palace is, now no one was killed nor was harmed, but many things in the palace were destroyed and vandalized by a certain guild.

"Ugh...What kind of guild is that?" My father said in irritation. "They just never learn. Why do they even do this? It's just insane."

"This is a footage found in the cameras hidden in the palace. When the Guild raid was going on." Said the reporter and played the video. People swarmed in the palace. I heard the rebels from the guild laughing and just pushing some vases down, pots and using their magic to stun the guard. The gunshots were from the guards, but the guild only did was shoot fire balls at the sky to light up the place and they looked like they were just playing. They were causing chaos in the palace!

In one shot I saw a man that really caught my attention. When he froze the floors and let the guard slip....it made me think of Gray. His backs was turned, but he looked looked Gray. That's impossible, right? Gray? In a guild? No way. I laughed at the thought, but it made me uncomfortable, longing to know if my thoughts were true in reality.

I turned to my dad who was clenching his fist on his coffee cup. I sighed. I better go up stairs before my dad gets flowed away by the current of the program, so I went upstairs to rest, avoiding another unnecessary scolding dad gives the TV.

And I remembered I had to see Gray and tell him that we needed to talk, but I didn't have to tell him. When I was sitting on my bedside table, writing my stories, there was a sudden cool breeze.

I turned to the window, it was closed, but...the cool wind. Where did it come from? I opened the window, but Gray wasn't outside.

"Hey." Someone said from behind me. I quickly turned around, trying to see who it was in my dimly lit room.

"....Gray? What are you--" I was stopped as he covered my mouth and gazed deeply on my eyes. He, then, placed his pointer finger on his mouth, telling me to keep quiet. I melted as I stared at his dark blue eyes that glowed, shining in the moon light. We stayed like that for a while.

I gently pushed his hand away from my mouth talk. "What are you doing here?" I whispered. If we get caught, we're dead. This is risky, just what is he thinking?

He leaned near my ear, his deep breaths touched my ear. It felt warm. "....I wanted to see you so badly..." I stood there, frozen, blushing.

"Gray...I..." I was stopped as he pressed my lips to his, then Gray left my mouth and started to kiss the side of my mouth, teasing me for more. "Stop....This...i-is a bad...Idea..." But he continued. "Ahh." I moaned, uncontrollably. I loved the feeling, but I snapped out and pushed him away.

"Look, Gray." I glupped, not ready to say it, but I'm here now...So there's no backing down now. "I need to get something straight with you.."

"What is it..?"

I walked to my bed and sat at the edge. "Look, a few hours ago. I was watching the news about the guild raid in the palace...."

I saw his hand and it clenched for some reason. "And there was someone.." I continued. "Using ice magic in the footage they got." I stood up and faced him. "Tell me the truth Gray...are you that the guild?"

"Lucy....You know that the guilds are illegal, so why would you accuse me of tha--"

"Don't act, Gray. I know when your lying." I walked towards him and held him in arms length. "Look, I just want to know."

He looked up at me, still not replying. "And plus," I smiled "He was using ice." I leaned on him, smiling. "And...the most obvious part!" I pointed my index finger upwards, proving a point. "He stripped in the middle of the corridors." I giggled.

He sighed. "Fine, you caught me." Then he wrapped his arms around me. "I'm sorry I hid it from you, I'm sorry. I just thought that you might get mad. But my guild isn't killing people. No, their different from the other guilds. I swear."

I wrapped my arms around him too. "Don't be sorry. I wasn't even angry from the start, but why would you join a guild?"

"That's a long story. I'll tell it to you someday. But for now, I need to go. We might get caught." He set my bangs aside and landed a kiss on my forehead. "See 'ya." He smiled and jumped out of the window.

I sighed, relieved that I knew that he told me. But then I felt irritated at myself....I forgot to tell him!! Two more days, and he'll know....I need to tell him tomorrow!
