Part 37

The Skylanders all watched Vexelle fight against all the Doomraiders at once. It didn't look like she needed any help at all. In fact, she was clearly enjoying herself. There was a smile on her face and her eyes lit up in a way they only did during training or a real battle.

"She's amazing..." Spyro remarked quietly, watching his fellow dragon go. "We can't even take on one villain on our own, but she can take on the toughest team out there!"

"Yeah," Stealth Elf nodded in agreement. "She definitely isn't the training instructor for nothing."

"And we all thought she was weak," Eruptor added, remembering how they didn't even think she was capable of shooting in the general direction of a target. But here she was, proving herself as a strong and very capable fighter.

"Should we help her?" Pop Fizz asked. "We'll step in only if she needs it," Jet Vac answered sternly. "This is the perfect opportunity to see the extent of her skills."

When Golden Queen landed the only hit Vexelle took, the Skylanders all prepared to jump in depending on how Vexelle reacted. When they saw the Golden Queen attach a collar to her, they were confused. They only realised what was really happening after Vexelle did. The look of shock on her face was evident only to them just a split second before a flash of light from her newly acquired collar stole her away.

"No!"

"Vexelle!"

"What just happened?!"

"Where is she?!"

"Aah!"

The Doomraiders all looked to where the cries of panic where coming from and smirked. "I almost thought she forgot to bring her entourage," Golden Queen stated, loud enough for the Skylanders to hear her. "Looks like we get even more fun."

"Ah, I see I've gotten my delivery as planned!"

I turn and look at whoever it is that's there. Their aura is a dark one and I immediately dislike them, so my stare turns to a glare. "Who the heck are you?"

They smirk at me. "Simple, fool! I am KAOS! And you are my new evil minion!"

"Oh, so you're Kaos?" I ask, surprised. "This'll be entertaining, then. Just so I know, what exactly are you expecting me to do?"

"You'll help attack the Skylanders, of course! And I, Kaos, will be the evil overlord of Skylands! Hahahahaha!"

"So you want to take over Skylands, huh? I see why you need me, then. But what I don't see is why you're bothering. Ruling things is seriously overrated."

"What? What do you mean?"

"Well first off, it's a lot of hard work. You've got to keep people happy or they'll riot... and don't think for a second that fear will work, because they'll just plot against you in secret. Then there's the whole issue of not being able to go out in public without risking idiots asking dumb questions or throwing insults and just generally bugging you for as long as they physically can. Plus it just generally gets boring after a while. Once you've had your fun, it seems less exciting. It loses all its appeal, but it's too late to go back. You're better off just as you are."

"... yeah, I don't care."

Kaos looks behind him at a tired-looking troll. "Glumshanks, go grab its lead. We'll take it for a walk around the place to get it used to the castle."

The troll sighs and walks off. "Ok, the collar I can just about work with, but a lead?" I huff. "I'm not a dog. Save the lead for Wolfgang."

"Ha!" Kaos genuinely finds that amusing. "I like you already. Now, what to call you..."

"Vexelle," I say, dreading to think of what names he might conjure up. "Nope, not evil enough," Kaos shakes his head, looking to be in deep thought. "Hm..."

Suddenly it hits him. "Oh, I know! How about Doomwing!"

"Doom? Na. Makes me sound too much like Dumbraider property," I shake my head. "You hate the Doomraiders, too?" He asks, surprised. "Uh, hello?!" I huff, pointing to the stupid collar.

"Oh, right, right," he nods. "Hm... Oh! Darkwing!" "Too easy," I shrug, deciding to draw this out as long as possible. "Anyone could think of that. I say we just stick to my actual name. It's unique, but simple."

"But I want you to be called something evil and I am your master so you will do as I say!" Kaos snaps childishly. "I can't pledge my loyalty to a master until I'm fully fledged," I shake my head. "You can't be my master. Right now, it's impossible."

"You don't get to say what's possible... Dark Fury!... no, that doesn't work..."

I roll my eyes. "Maybe I don't, but reality does. It's the ways of my kind. I don't pick those. I just live with it."

"Silence... Deathwing!... Hm... I'm getting closer! Always add death to a name if you want it to sound cool. Gotta remember that one."

"Uh... whatever," I roll my eyes again. "Can I go now? Please say we're done here."

"No... Death... claw? Deathshot? Death... jewel? Wait... Deathjewel... yeah, I like that! Deathjewel!... why do I like that? Eh, who cares? You're Deathjewel now!"

"Uh, no," I shake my head. "I'm not gonna-"

The troll comes back with a lead. "Here's her lead, sir," he tells Kaos, handing it over. "Oh, good!" Kaos grins, coming over to me. "You are not coming near me with that stupid thing," I snap, backing away. I'm not going to wear a lead. I'm not a pet.

"Here, girl!" He calls for me, parting his knees like I'm some sort of puppy dog. "Come to Kaos!"

I blast at him and he goes flying, making me snicker. "Hey! No shooting me!" He yells, then tries to blast me as revenge. I simply sidestep his dark orb. "That was way too easy," I say. "I was hoping you'd at least be some sort of a challenge, but I guess not."

He yells in frustration and leaps at me.
