Part 33
The Skylanders all appeared out of nowhere and instantly began attacking the Doomraiders, who realised only too late what was happening. They fought back once the element of surprise was lost, then it was a fierce battle.
Yells, battle cries, howls, cruel laughter and other sounds alike those could be heard from miles away. The Skylanders fought hard, but the Doomraiders did the same. They almost appeared evenly matched, causing the two sides to gain and lose the advantage every few minutes.
Then, as everyone was fully immersed in battle, Spyro was knocked from the skies. He plummeted to the ground, right in front of the Golden Queen, who grabbed him roughly by the neck.
"We have your little friend!" She shouted over the raging battle, holding up Spyro for all to see. "If you want him back, you'll have to come and get him!"
Suddenly all the Doomraiders aside from Dreamcatcher began glowing a faint golden colour and they all levitated, then began flying away, Spyro still in the Golden Queen's grasp. "Spyro!" Stealth Elf gasped, teleporting to him, but the Golden Queen easily hit her away.
Stealth Elf was caught by Jet Vac, who quickly put her down. "Elf, we have to think. None of us can fly. What do we do?"
...
"Just leave it to me!"

The second I stepped through the portal I saw the Doomraiders all flying away and Spyro being dragged away with them. Stealth Elf attempted to teleport after them, but it didn't work. I quickly flew after them, silently coming in from behind.
It was easy for me to snatch up Spyro in my talons and fly back to the Skylanders with him. "Here, take him!" I told them, handing him over. "He's unconscious, but he seems ok aside from that! He just needs rest and he'll come to on his own!"
"You!" Glitter bomb snarls. "You traitor! You were supposed to defeat the Skylanders so we could finish the job!"
"I was also supposed to be working right now, but life is full of surprises," I retort. "Now leave before I show the Skylanders just how to take out a twenty-four karat brat without moving a muscle."
"You'll regret this!" She snarls. "That's a problem for the future me," I shrug. "Trust me, I do not envy them one bit."
"Ugh!" She yells in frustration. "You haven't seen the last of us!"
At long last they leave. I turn my attention to Spyro and use my powers to replenish his energy. "He'll be fine," I tell the other Skylanders. "He still needs to rest, though. Hopefully the next time he wants to skip training he'll just hand me a fake excuse note or something."
Only Pop Fizz laughs a little at my joke. "Let's get him to the Academy," I sigh. I use my powers to lift him off the ground and onto my back, then I curl my wings around him so he won't fall off. He's heavy and uncomfortable, but it'll have to do.
Instead of the Academy, we end up going to the Skylanders' house. I lay Spyro out on his bed (I need to get myself one of these) and then stretch a little to ease the cramps carrying that lump gave me.
"He should just wake up any minute now," I say. "Pain will be minimal if anything, so he doesn't need to worry much about that. Knowing him, though, he'll be hungry and he won't stop complaining until he gets food."
"You already know him too well," Stealth Elf sighed. "I'll make some food." She teleported away.
"If it's alright, I kind of have a class to teach," Jet Vac rubs his neck awkwardly. "It's fine, go," I nod. "Can't put the world on hold just because sleeping beauty hasn't quite reached the last year."
Jet Vac chuckles and walks out, shooting me a thankful look at the door. I turn back to Spyro and keep his aura healthy and strong so that he'll be more likely to wake up faster. I don't want to have to keep babysitting him. It gets boring fast.
One by one the other Skylanders filter out, trusting me to be able to take care of Spyro. I sigh. Jerks.
Stealth Elf teleports back in after a while, making me yelp in surprise. "Food's ready," she tells me, then teleports back out again.
Suddenly I hear a groan and I turn back to Spyro, who's rubbing his neck. "You ok?" I ask. "Feels like I've been strangled," he replies. "What happened? Did we beat the Doomraiders?"
"I wouldn't say beat, but you sent them packing," I reply. "They tried to make off with you but I got you back. But enough about that, you hungry?"
"I could eat a horse," he confirms. "Knew it," I chuckle. "Come on, Stealth Elf made you something."
I help him downstairs and into the kitchen. "Look who's up," I say to the other Skylanders who are here. They all grin and come over to greet Spyro.
"Where's Jet Vac?" Spyro asks after everyone's shut up. "He had to go teach a class, he only just left," I lie, knowing it would be better if I said that rather than that he left about twenty minutes ago. "I told him it was ok to go because you weren't too bad and it was just a matter of you waking up." Oh, ok," Spyro nodded, seeming to understand.
"Spyro, I made your favourite," Stealth Elf smirked. "You made pancakes?" Spyro grinned. "Yup!" She nodded. "I even did your 'backwards smiley face'."
In a flash, Spyro was up at the table. We all laughed at him. Stealth Elf served up some pancakes for him, then set out more pancakes on other plates. The others all cheered at her actions and dug in. I laugh again, this time at all of them.
"Vexelle? You coming?" Stealth Elf asked, tapping a spare plate of pancakes. I stop laughing and look at her in surprise. "Wait, you're serious?"
"Well... Yeah," she nods. "Don't you like pancakes or something?" "Never had them," I shrug. "I don't exactly have a kitchen in my cave. I just wasn't expecting you to include me in this, that's all."
"Hey, catch!" Spyro says, tossing a pancake at me. I skewer it with my tail. "There, now eat," he smirks, watching me like it's the most interesting thing in the world.
I roll my eyes. "Fine, fine." I take a bite. "... Stealth Elf, are you sure your best use to this world is being a Skylander? Because if that doesn't work out for you, you could always be a chef."
