Part 25

I set Stealth Elf down and release her from my powers, smirking at everyone. "Anyone else got any tricks up their sleeves?"

They're all just gawking in shocked realisation now. "Did she just... did she just beat all of us on her own?!" Spyro asked, not quite believing it. "Looks like it, yeah," I nod.

I notice Jet Vac having a quiet word with Eon and look at them both. They both notice and share a discrete nod, then they come over to me. The other Skylanders follow suit, though they don't overtake. I watch in confusion.

"Vexelle, you've just proven that you're capable of fighting against the entire core Skylander team. Do you understand what this means?"

"Probably not the meaning you have in mind," I reply. "I honestly still don't understand why everyone wanted to fight. Did I do something wrong?"

"Quite the opposite," Eon shakes his head. "Come, come, I'll explain everything back inside." He starts walking off, Jet Vac at his side. I join them, still confused. The other Skylanders then flock behind us like lost sheep, except they're all grinning at me.

We head into the main part of the Academy. Eon sits down at his desk, Jet Vac standing to his right. The other Skylanders all hang around on various chairs or whatever. Jet Vac subtly gestures for me to sit in front of Eon's desk, so I do so.

"Vexelle, do you know why your score on the entrance exam is so... shocking?" Eon begins, holding up the exam. "Is it bad?" I ask. "Actually, this is the third highest score we've ever seen at the Academy," Eon told me.

I shot up. "What?! You can't be serious!" "I am," Eon states. "And while I was originally very impressed by this, I knew we also needed to test your fighting skills and technique before we could confirm that you were truly capable of what the test can only assume you were. The Skylanders were all more than happy to help with that. And I can confirm that you went above and beyond even my expectations."

"This is insane," I mutter as I shake my head in disbelief. "Vexelle, I'm more convinced than ever that you would make a fine training instructor here at the Academy, or even a cadet and future Skylander," Eon states.

I blink. "Me? A cadet? A future Skylander? No, I couldn't do that."

"Come on, Vexelle!" Spyro encourages. "You'd be a great cadet! I'm sure you could even go up a year, if you're lucky!"

"Yes, if Vexelle were to become a cadet, she'd be able to go straight into the second-year classes," Jet Vac nodded. "First-year is mostly the basics and improving knowledge. It's to make sure cadets are able to handle the work. But Vexelle here has already more than proven that she can do it all."

"None of this matters because I'm not going to become a cadet," I say. "You can't force me." "Yeah I can," Spyro smirks ignorantly. "Remember my great powers to annoy people? I'll just use them on you until you agree!"

"Spyro, no!" I snap. "I can't do it! Being a cadet means that one day I'll very likely become a Skylander! I can't do that!"

"Sure you can!" Spyro flies over to me. "You're great!"

"This isn't about that, Spyro!" I yell.

Suddenly I can't control it anymore.

The Skylanders all gasp and leap back from the white glow that's visibly encasing me. "I can't take it anymore!" I yell. "When will you finally listen to me?! I can't do this! You have no control over me whatsoever, you can't force me to do anything! So stop acting like you have any control!"

With that, I fly out, unable to take this any longer. Spyro tries to follow me, but Eon is wise enough to tell him to stay and give me some time to myself.

I reach my clearing and start blasting all my targets, each one hitting the dead centre. I need to work off my extra energy. I'm way too agitated to think straight right now, I need to cool off in a way that doesn't hurt people.

Slowly I begin to calm down. The bright white glow eventually fades as well. I sigh in relief once I'm sure I'm alright, laying down.

"You can come out now, I'm not ready to kill someone anymore."

The master of the Skylanders comes out of the trees that were supposedly hiding him. I could sense him the whole time, obviously. But clearly he knew I needed my moment.

"Why are you here?" I ask, not looking even in his direction. "I needed to make sure you were alright," he replied calmly. "It's only fair."

"When I go white, it's better to just leave me in peace so I can cool off," I advice. "That glow was my aura. Normally I can control its general visibility, but when I'm really emotional... that happens. White is anger, frustration, anything like that. You just need to let me get it all out, then I'm fine. Until then, though, approach with caution because I'm practically a ticking time bomb."

"Do you get this mad often?" He enquires. "Not to the point where my aura comes out," I shake my head. "That's usually saved for when I've built up anger over time and it finally just all has to come out. Usually I do my best to voice everything as of when so this won't be an issue, but since the issue is that they won't let me voice any issues... I couldn't do it this time."

"I see," Eon nods. "I've witnessed them stopping you many times and they've owned up to times I haven't been around to see. They do need to listen to you more, especially if this is what it does to you to not be allowed to speak about important matters."

"It just irritates me, it's not anyone else's problem," I sigh. "I think we both know why that isn't true," he says pointedly. "But would you mind coming back to the Academy so we can finish our discussion? Of course, I can't force you."

"I'll come," I agree. "Sorry for running out like that and shouting at everyone. At that point it was either that or rip someone's head off."

"I understand," he told me, gesturing for me to come with him. I do so and we start walking back to the Academy. "Though I have to ask why you don't think you can become a Skylander. You've proven you're more than capable of the task."

I sigh. "That's not the problem."
