Confessions

We arrived at a mountain cave of some sort. It was much warmer in there, we saw the Pool of Eternal Life and a familiar woman. Seeing us intruders caused her to get out her sword and attack but Lin stopped her.

"Mama!"

Lin was sobbing. Zi Yuan helped her up and hugged her.

"Zi Yuan!" I sobbed too.

She gasped.

"Daiyu!"

She let go of Lin and hugged me.

Rick was being doctored on by Zi Yuan. He was being all lovey dovey with Evie, he was gonna be alright.

"I have to tell them," I said to Lin.

"Then go do it, you've gone unrecognized long enough."

She hugged me.

"Go on princess."

I walked to Rick and Evie.

"You've got a lot of explaining to do Daiyu," Rick said sternly.

"I do, Alex, Jonathan, come a little closer and listen to me. I have a confession, it'll explain why I hid from the emperor when he first showed up. I've known you guys for twenty years, it's about time I told you about my past."

They were listening, all eyes were on me.

"Rick, how do I know what the emperor wants? Well...I knew him personally...I'm immortal."

Their eyes widened but Lin and her mother.

"Zi Yuan was requested for him to be immortal but he was cursed instead...the state he is now...she made me immortal instead of him."

"You are more worthy, you are a better person who would make a better ruler," Zi Yuan replied.

"You're saying you're related to that monster?" Jonathan asked.

I let my tears fall.

"Yes...he's my father...I'm the Dragon Princess. He protected me from the avalanche while you guys were protected by those white monsters."

"Yetis," Lin corrected me.

"Yetis right...I wasn't hiding Rick, I saw him again for the first time in hundreds, hundreds of years. He seemed happy to see me again."

I buried my face in my hands.

"Oh my God, I don't know what to think, the way he shielded me from the storm, he's still my Dad but he's a ruthless evil man! See, this is why I was uncomfortable with going back home! Too late, he knows I'm still alive."

Evie gave me a big hug, I felt Rick raise up to join in.

"You're still our DD," Rick said.

"Wait," Evie said.

We let go.

"If you're immortal, how old are you...I mean physically."

"You'll be shocked."

"Just say it."

"14."

"No wonder you can't drink!" Jonathan blurted.

"You've been a child all this time...twenty years with us," Rick said.

I nodded. He chuckled and shook his head.

"I have the soul of old, very old."

We laughed and hugged.

After all that, I wanted to get some shut eye, I haven't slept since I passed out the night my father returned.

*Final Flashback, The Terra Cotta Incident*

The morning after Chang was executed, a servant shook me awake.

"Your Highness, you're requested in the garden," she said in Chinese.

"I'm not in the mood."

I was still devastated about Chang.

"It's your father, he wants you to join him in the garden."

"Why, he knows I'm still mad at him?"

"He has a surprise for you."

I groaned and got out of bed.

I was dressed in a comfortable day silk dress and was led to the garden, Father was there by the stone picnic table, a black tea kettle and two cups were resting, a closed dim sum basket was in the center.

"Good morning Baba, hope you slept well."

"I did sleep well, come...have breakfast with me."

How did he sleep at night after his raids and executions? I sat with him at the table.

"I have a special treat for just the two of us..."

He noticed the servant and a couple soldiers keeping an eye on us.

"Me and my daughter are having a private moment, leave us!" He commanded.

They left as quickly as they could. He poured my tea before his.

"What's the occasion Baba?"

"Oh, just a nice morning, just the two of us, the trees are moving with the spring breeze, the flowers are blooming more than ever before. It's just a nice day today!"

I raised an eyebrow. He frowned as soon as he noticed my look.

"What?"

"Nothing Baba, you're in a good mood this morning."

"Your own father can have good days too. Now, we have some warm tea and..."

He opened the basket to reveal several small buns shaped like peaches, the shape and color are the exact same.

"Baba...you arranged this for me?"

"Yes, I know how much you love peaches, we haven't had Shoutao Bao since you were very small. Enjoy!"

I took a bite, it even tasted like peaches. Father was enjoying it too. After eating the first bun, I took a sip of my tea, it had an herbal taste to it, like oolong.

"Baba?"

He looked up from getting his second bun.

"Hmm?"

"Is it because of what happened yesterday?"

"What?"

"This special treat, is it because of our spat yesterday with Chang?"

"To tell you the truth...yes it is. I don't feel sympathy for Chang in the slightest...but I did feel bad for upsetting you. I'm making it up to you by arranging some time for just the two of us. You said you would like for us to spend time together...so this it. And I have some business later on this afternoon. I'll use this free time with you."

A small smile formed on his lips, I returned it.

"Thanks for thinking of me when you do."

"Daiyu...baby, I think about you every minute, every second  of every day. I may not say it a lot but...I...I love you."

I stopped chewing for a second then swallowed, I was shocked to hear those three words I wanted to hear him say for as long as I could remember. I sipped my tea to keep my lips from quivering. I felt a tear about to fall, I quickly wiped it. How did I know he noticed, he held out his hand he wasn't eating with, I took it and squeezed it firmly but not enough to hurt him.

"You're growing up Daiyu...you are...you know that?"

I nodded.

"Yes Baba."

I broke, I was sobbing. He stood up, went around the table, helped me up, and gave me a big hug. He's never been this affectionate before! I didn't want to let go but we did, he put his hand on my cheek.

"I'll tell you what, you join me this afternoon, it's about time you took part in imperial affairs. You think you can handle the responsibility?"

I nodded with confidence!

When noon came, we met Zi Yuan in the throne room, she found the books needed for making us immortal. We both stood still next to each other, she said an incantation, I didn't understand the language she was speaking but it started working on Father.

"I can feel it already," he whispered menacingly.

She paused for a second then said a different incantation. I started to feel something, I felt like I was floating. I let out a huge exhale, Father turned to me and smiled.

"I think it's working!" I said.

Father gave me a quick smirk and nod in triumph before motioning Zi Yuan to come with him. He led us to the balcony. The soldiers were standing outside, some were being rough with General Ming. They had him in chains, oh no...oh no.

"Guo!" Zi Yuan said.

"General Ming!" I said along with her.

"Become my queen and I will let him live," Father said.

"Do what he says, save yourself!" Ming shouted.

Zi Yuan and Father looked at each other.

"You will never keep your word."

"You're right."

With the raise of his hand, General Ming was executed by body part tearing from the horses who were on the other side of hid chains. Father got a hold of her and stabbed her with his dagger.

"Now, join General Ming in hell."

She started running away, I followed her. Seconds later, he was shouting at the top of his lungs following us.

"What did you do to me!?"

"I cursed you and your army."

I turned around in tears to see him, he had brown liquid coming out of his eyes.

"Daiyu!" He yelled.

"Come on!" Zi Yuan said.

She led me outside the palace, all of his men were terra cotta statues as we fled by horse.

*Flashback End*

I shot up to see the Yak that was with us that Jonathan befriended on the helicopter, wanting to cuddle with me.

"You're a good girl, I never saw or even touched an ox before."

The female Asian Ox sighed.

"I get it, quite a journey here."

I scratched her head before sensing Zi Yuan awake as well. I got up and walked towards her without waking the others up. I sat next to her gazing at the Pool of Eternal Life.

"This is it, the Pool of Eternal Life," I said.

"I've been watching over it for centuries. What are you doing up, it's only a few hours until the sun rises."

"I've been having these dreams since I came back to China."

"What dreams?"

"They're more like flashbacks to my childhood with Baba."

She looked at me.

"Is it the same dream over again?"

That moment, Alex, Lin, Evie, Rick, and Jonathan were listening. I continued.

"Every time I went to sleep, I'm reliving different parts of my life, from Baba teaching me how to fight to when you cursed him, before I woke up a moment ago, you cursed him and his army and you led me out of the palace."

"Oh...that is fascinating."

"It felt like I was really there. You, Baba, General Ming, and Chang."

"Oh Daiyu...I miss them too. I always wondered...what could've been if I accepted your father's hand in marriage?"

"I would've had a mother."

She smiled at my remark.

"Maybe."

"I think you're already like my mom."

She smiled again but with glossy eyes. She pulled me into a hug.

"I missed you so much Daiyu. I never understood how a man like him...raised a sweet empathetic girl like you for fourteen years?"

"I had servants to help take care of me, of course we had good times together, we had bad times also. His good days always made up for the bad days. I never thought he would come back Zi Yuan."

"Me neither...D...your friends...they call you D," she chuckled.

I looked at the O'Connell clan behind us smiling. I turned to the torches far from us lighting the area.

"Wanna see something fascinating, I should've showed this off in Egypt."

I ran over to the torch, my hand reached towards the flames.

"D, what the hell are you doing, you'll burn yourself!?" Rick exclaimed.

Fire appeared in my hand, then both my hands were on fire. Evie had her hand over her mouth.

"It doesn't hurt a bit. This is called Wuxing, it manipulates the five elements: fire, water, metal, wood, and earth. Me and my father learned it together. I should've used this fighting those mummies, I should've burned them all."

"Because you tried to keep it all a secret for twenty years, you kicked their asses with your fighting anyway."

"I've kept it longer than that, ever since Zi Yuan dragged me out of the palace, I wanted to start a new life."

Zi Yuan touched my shoulder.

The sun was out, we were all just hanging out by the pool when Zi Yuan walked to me holding a dress.

"I have a gift for you, it's one of my old dresses, it will fit you nicely."

I ran off to change quickly.

It suited me very well! Like I was a princess.

I walked back to the gang, as soon as the saw me, they smiled. I hooked my sword to the side of my dress, ready for the day. Suddenly, there was a blast, like someone blasted through. We were all on the ground. My father came in followed by Yang. He looked at Zi Yuan, then Lin and me. We were too weak to get up at that moment when he walked all the way to the pool, he just walked right in.

"He is immortal," Yang said.

He walked in a mummy, then out a three headed dragon, it was terrifying. He went right for Lin, as soon as he snatched her, I ran over to them.

"Daiyu!" Zi Yuan shouted.

"No harm will come to Lin!"

I looked straight in the dragon's eyes.

"Baba!"

He turned to me, Lin was scared in his grasp.

"If you take her, you have to take me too!" I shouted in Chinese.

He let out a growl then the first head got my collar. He took off with us.
