Flying with ealges
-A/n pov-
Y/n had changed back to her human self and were now sitting on a giant eagle. Soon the eagles swooped down towards a small cliff. When they reached the formation, the eagle who held Thorin let him carefully down before flying away. Y/n got off her eagle as it landed. She made her way to Thorin, worry etching in her face. Remembering her lessons with lord Elrond about healing, she immediately got to work and laid her hands upon Thorin's chest while muttering small words of healing. The others watched her as throin shot up and coughed lightly. Y/n gave him a small smile and helped him to stand.
"Wheres the hobbit?" throin said while he leaned on y/n. "Bilbo's here, and he's safe," she said and gestured her free hand towards Bilbo. Thorin stopped relying on her and made his way to Bilbo, who was scared that Thorin would leach out on him. "You! What were you doing? You nearly got yourself killed! Did I not say that you would be a burden? That you would not survive in the wild and that you had no place amongst us?" Thorin advances until he is face to face with Bilbo, who looks worried and frightened.
"I've never been so wrong in all my life!" Thorin grabs Bilbo and embraces him deeply. The other dwarves cheer loudly and slap each other on the back: Gandalf and y/n smile. Bilbo, looking quite surprised, hugs Thorin back. "I am sorry I doubted you," Thorin says. "No, I would have doubted me too. I'm not a hero or a warrior...not even a burglar." Bilbo says. As everyone chuckles, the Eagles fly away, screeching. Thorin looks beyond Bilbo and sees something; he strides forward, and the others follow his gaze. "is it what I think it is?" bilbo aks, and y/n cames up beside him, laying a hand on his shoulder. "yes," she says. "our home" thorin continues.
A bird cheeps and flies by. "A raven! The birds are returning to the mountain." Oin says happily, and y/n chuckles softly. More birdsong is heard. "That, my dear Oin, is a thrush," Gandalf says. "But we'll take it as a sign - a good omen," Thorin says and smiles at y/n, who smiles lightly back. "You're right. I do believe the worst is behind us." She says. The Company looks on at the Lonely Mountain as the sun comes up behind them.
———
The thrush flies across the Desolation of Smaug, flying in front of the ruined gates of Erebor, and then finally lands on a rock on the side of the mountain. It picks up a snail and bangs the snail shell against the side of the hill. Inside the mountain, a massive pile of gold, coins, jewels, and treasures is piled up in the throne room, and the sounds of the thrush echo through the gigantic chambers. Some of the gold is blown away, revealing Smaug's snout beneath the pile. As Smaug slowly raises his head from beneath the mound, more treasure falls away from his face. The camera focuses on his closed eye. Suddenly, his eye opens, and Smaug growls.
