Chapter 8 - Dragons Dream

Lucy and Erza had both bolted to Wendy's cave as soon as they heard the roar. They threw the newly made door open and emerged to find Wendy in her human form being comforted by Porlyusica, Romeo, and a familiar wyrm; Amenista. Wendy sat on her large bed of blankets and pillows with Romeo beside her and Amenista sat curled around herself, watching the girl carefully.

"What happened!?" Erza demanded, sword drawn and eyes scanning the cave for immediate danger.

"I had... a... a dream," Wendy answered holding her head. Porlyusica seemed to be running diagnostics on the woman, feeling her forehead and checking her pulse.

"A dream?" Lucy asked walking over.

The woman looked distraught, her large brown eyes were wet and tearful and she was trembling. Romeo sat beside her, a reassuring arm around her shoulder.

"No, it was a vision," Amenista corrected, raising her head and looking to the blonde.

"I don't know what it was," Wendy murmured, biting her lips.

"Well, whatever it was, you're not allowed to do it again. You shouldn't be all riled up like this while you're carrying!" Porlyusica scolded. Her grey hair was held up in a ponytail but her face was as stern and heartless as ever, with a few more wrinkles lining it.

"What did you see?" Lucy asked kneeling down on the stone floor and looking up soothingly at the younger woman.

"I..." Wendy shook. Romeo rubbed her back assuringly and then looked to Lucy and Erza.

"She said she dreamt about floating. She was in some bright white soup, she was in her dragon force form but she couldn't sense anything," Romeo explained, sparing his mate the torture of explaining it again.

Lucy and Erza both nodded slowly.

"Then she heard Acnologia's voice," Romeo continued. Wendy closed her eyes as if reliving the moment. "He told her to be careful, that they had already taken the others so she had to be careful."

"What?" Lucy asked.

"Who is 'they'? What do you mean by 'the others'?" Erza pondered.

"My brothers," Wendy answered, her voice shaking. "I don't know how I know, but something terrible is going to happen. It's all a blur but I'd never felt so scared or angry. It's all a blur but it's a terrifying blur... something terrible is going to happen to my family."

"Natsu..." Lucy breathed.

"Where are they?" Wendy asked.

"They went on a job," Erza explained.

"All of them?" Wendy cried. "They all went to the same job!?"

"Yes," Lucy nodded, worry apparent in her eyes.

"Then there's no time to waste! We have to find them! We have to - " Wendy began standing up. She stood up too fast and seemed a bit unsteady on her feet.

"Whoa! Whoa! Wendy, calm down," Romeo soothed standing up and slowly having his wife sit back down. "You just woke up screaming and look absolutely exhausted. No offense to you sweetheart but you also look like you've swallowed a basketball! You can't charge straight at this problem right now."

"You should listen to your human, Wendy," Porlyusica scowled.

"But... but something happened to them..." Wendy murmured. "Amenista!"

The wyrm looked to the woman, "Yes?"

"Your vision... your vision saw my brothers vanishing in a flash of light, right?" Wendy asked, visibly trembling.

Amenista nodded slowly, her eyes dark.

"Do you think... do you think what I felt and what you saw are connected?" Wendy asked.

Amenista opened her jaws to answer, seemed to think better of it and then let out a sigh. "I cannot pretend to know. But I fear, that the things I saw, that all the things I feared in my vision, are coming to pass."

A small sound escaped Wendy and she put a hand to her mouth, eyes watering.

"Hey, hey," Lucy soothed reaching up and putting a hand on Wendy's shoulder. "It's okay. I'll head straight down to the guild and see if I can contact Natsu and the others. You know those guys, they won't go down without a fight. I'm sure they're alright."

"We'll pass your fear along to them, and warn them to be cautious," Erza agreed.

"See," Romeo smiled assuringly pulling Wendy closer, "It's gonna be fine."

"I just... I feel so scared... I can't... understand why," Wendy murmured.

"Hormones," Porlyusica stated monotonously as she deadpanned. Everyone in the room sweatdropped as they looked to the old woman.

"We'll find out what's going on," Lucy assured after a moment, looking back to the blue-haired woman. "You get some rest."

"Child! I brought you breakfast!" Charle announced, flying through the open door with a tray of food in her paws.

"There you are, Charle!" Romeo grinned.

"Tea cakes, tea, coffee for the mister, plenty of water, an apple, some strawberries, and yogurt," Charle began listing off as she placed the tray down beside Wendy.

"Thanks, Charle," Wendy smiled, her eyes still sad.

"Don't you thank me! Heavens darling, you look exhausted! Eat a bit and then take another nap," Charle fussed studying Wendy's pale face.

"That's it, now we've reached too many people! Everyone out!" Porlyusica cried hoisting up a broom threateningly.

"W-what!?" Romeo choked as the old woman shuffled towards him.

"Not you," Porlyusica grumbled.

"I'm staying with Wendy," Charle announced sternly, crossing her paws.

"I'll take my leave, but I shall post myself outside the cave and watch for dangers to soothe my restless self," Amenista explained, walking out the door, her snake-like body sliding silently over the stone floor.

"We'll head out too, and we'll get to the bottom of this!" Lucy assured Wendy, grabbing her hands and holding them tight. "Don't you worry."

"Thank you, Lucy," Wendy smiled.

"If you need anything, don't hesitate to roar," Erza nodded fiercely. "I will arrive in moments armed for battle and ready to crucify anyone who comes to harm you!"

Romeo sweatdropped at the redhead's dangerous aura while Wendy giggled. Her spirits slightly lifted.

"And thank you, Erza-san," Wendy nodded.

"Alright! Out! Out!" Porlyusica cried shooing Lucy and Erza out of the cave and closing the door behind them.

Lucy looked back at the cave before looking to Erza.

"What do you think?" the blonde asked.

"It's concerning," Erza answered solemnly. "We need to contact the dragon slayers right away."

"Oh, yeah, of course I put a tracking beacon on Sting," Yukino nodded as she and Minerva sat down at the Fairy Tail guildhall.

"Figured," Lucy grinned.

"Well, you remember when he vanished for three months and it turns out he'd gotten lost in some random country half-way around the world?" Yukino sighed, remembering it. "After that, I snuck tracking lacrimas into his luggage so that if he was gone for too long, I'd be able to find him and send help.

Minerva chuckled to recall that same instance.

"Now, what's this about?" Minerva asked looking to Lucy, Levy, Kinana, Mira, and Erza who were all peering at the map laid out on the table.

"A few months ago, Amenista had a vision about an oncoming apocalypse," Lucy explained.

"That one with Acnologia in it?" Yukino asked, recalling the information Sting had shared with her.

"Yeah," Levy nodded.

The doors to the guild swung open and Kagura strode in with Shido and Frosch by her side.

"Hey, Kagura! Good, we're all here then," Mira greeted.

"Indeed, I brought a few friends, I hope you don't mind," Kagura nodded. As she spoke, Millianna leaped forward and tackled the unsuspecting Lector who was walking beside Shiro.

"Kitty!!" Millianna grinned snuggly Lector who was struggling to breathe from the embrace.

"Hey, Millianna!" Shiro greeted.

"Hey Shiro!" the cat girl greeted standing up and studying the boy. "Wow, you've grown... are you taller than my little Shido though?"

At her words, she grabbed Shido and pulled him into an embrace as she snuggled him too.

"Auntie! No! Wait - " Shido pleaded as Millianna squished his cheeks. Lector sighed from Millianna's other arm and accepted his face.

"Awww, but you're so cute little Shido!" Millianna pouted.

"Fro thinks so too!" Frosch agreed.

"See, even the adowable wittle fwoggy kitty says so," Millianna grinned.

Shido looked to Shiro pleadingly and mouthed the words 'help me'.

"Hey Millianna," Shiro smiled to the cat girl, "Happy's over there, he seems a little lonely."

Sting's son pointed to the blue cat who was sitting on the counter talking to Igneel.

"A WONELY KITTY!?" Millianna cried looking up. She released both Lector and Shido before running full speed and tackling the poor unsuspecting blue cat.

Shido breathed in relief and Frosch landed on his shoulder.

"Thanks," he smiled at Shiro.

"Man, you've got the coolest aunt," Shiro smiled looking over to Millianna who was snuggling the poor struggling Happy. "Aunt Minerva's like having a private tutor every day of your life," the boy then deadpanned thinking back to the woman sitting a few feet away.

"Coolest is one way to put it... I prefer the term, suffocating," Shido chuckled.

"Fro thinks Millie is great!" the green cat on Shido's shoulder smiled.

"I don't know about great," Lector winced, rubbing his cheeks.

Meanwhile, Kagura had walked up to the table and sat down beside Minerva.

"Anyway, that vision Amenista had those few months ago," Lucy continued, "she seems to think it's tied to a nightmare that Wendy had recently."

"That doesn't sound good," Kinana frowned.

"With our family... it's usually not good," Levy sighed.

"So, we were hoping to contact the dragon slayers, to see if they could tell us anything," Lucy explained.

"Unfortunately, they seem to be out of range for our communicator lacrimas," Erza interjected.

"Out of range?" Minerva questioned.

"Indeed, I tried to contact them and the dragon who called for their assistance. I received no answer," Freed explained walking up to the table. He pointed to a spot on the map and looked to the woman around the table. "They were heading here, the question is if they got there."

Everyone looked to Yukino who placed a tracking lacrima on the table. She tapped it with her hand. "Sting Eucliffe," she spoke clearly.

The pale lacrima glowed white at those words and gingerly Yukino picked it up and held it over the map. The lacrima took a moment before a skinny ray of light shot out and lit up the portion of the map that Freed had been pointing at. The light seemed to scan a small area for a few moments before it glowed red and the lacrima blinked three times.

Yukino froze and everyone at the table looked to her apprehensive. Minerva leaned forward worriedly and rubbed her chin as she began to think.

"What?" Kagura demanded. "What does that mean?"

Everyone seemed to lean into Yukino's next words.

"It means... that... the lacrima can't find its match," Yukino murmured.

There was a moment of stifling fear.

"But there could be plenty of reasons for that," Kinana assured everyone. "Maybe they were caught up in some magic restriction field. Maybe Sting broke the lacrima on accident."

"Either way," Minerva murmured, leaning forward and pointing at the spot of the map where the red light still shone, "This was the last place we know Sting was... or at least where his tracking lacrima was."

"Something seems immensely fishy about this," Erza announced darkly.

"What do we do?" Levy asked.

"I think that's pretty simple," Freed announced. "I'll go there with a few mages and check it out."

"I will accompany you," Kagura announced.

"Me too!" Lucy agreed.

"That may not be wise," Freed disagreed. "Call it intuition, but if someone is trying to get rid of the dragon slayers... then we can guess who's next on their list."

Very slowly, everyone looked over to the center of the guildhall where Igneel and Emma were caught up in another fistfight as Nashi and Lance once again were trying to separate them. Kina, Shiro, and Shido were discussing something at the bar as they all sipped on juice, Shiro seeming a bit upset. Nova and Kakumi were playing Uno with Rosemary and Rose as Victoria watched, applying a fresh coat of green nail polish to her fingernails, every so often, she would toss a snide comment to Rosemary who would ninja-star an Uno card for her face causing Kakumi to deadpan.

"The kids," Mira murmured darkly, a dangerous glint in her eyes.

There was a shriek of joy as Jet barreled past the table, the Redfox twins in his arms shrieking happily as they raced around the guildhall. Kurui and Kuro clapped their hands once Jet came to a stop and looked to the man expectantly.

"You wanna go again?" Jet asked.

The twins blinked and nodded.

"Well, you've gotta say, 'Again Uncle Jet'," Jet coaxed with a grin.

The twins blinked again with a blank face. Jet sighed.

"Alright, I give up. Levy, you're kids aren't going to talk today," Jet yelled to Levy before taking off again.

Levy smiled but it was a solemn smile.

"That's not happening," Kagura announced darkly. "They will not harm our children."

"Whoever they are," Minerva nodded.

"Well, let's not jump to conclusions," Lucy soothed. "These are the dragon slayers we're talking about. I'm still not quite certain that anyone did attack the dragon slayers. I mean for all we know, Sting and Natsu got in a fight which resulted in the tracking lacrima being broken."

"Then... we should plan for worst and hope for the best," Kinana concurred.

"And keep an eye on the kids," Mira stated.

Suddenly, the door was kicked open and Bickslow strode in holding his triplets.

"The babies are in the house!" he called with a smirk. Evergreen practically appeared by his side, squishing the cheeks of her nephews and niece.

"Awwwww, they're still so cute," Evergreen cried in a proud Aunty manner. Lisanna grinned and then yawned.

"Cute enough to keep you up all night," she murmured. "Thank Mavis for Kina's babysitting hours or Bickslow and I wouldn't get any sleep."

"I'll take them for a moment," Evergreen practically begged.

Bickslow smirked proudly as his triplets all immediately reached for their Aunt.

"Eva!" they all yelled which almost gave Evergreen heart palpitations as she took all three of them.

"My sister's kids are all super manly!" Elfman cried coming to Evergreen's side.

"I think Mui would disagree," Lisanna smirked. The turquoise-eyed girl smiled at her name.

"They're so cute I could eat them all up!!" Evergreen squealed.

"I don't want a sibling, Mom," Victoria called from a few tables away as she studied her nails.

"Victoria... if you want to survive through the day then you'll watch your tone, young lady," Evergreen smiled dangerously, a dark aura surrounding her. The triplets all laughed at their aunt's scary face and clapped. Yui looked blankly, unable to see but hearing the tone which also made him giggle.

"Bickslow!" Freed called walking over.

"Yeah, man?" Bickslow asked turning to his friend.

"We think the dragon slayers may be in trouble, would you mind joining me on a scouting party?" Freed asked, lowering his voice as he approached.

"They're in trouble again?" Bickslow asked.

"Are you surprised?" Evergreen scoffed, stopping her adoration of the triplets for two seconds.

"We're trying to keep this on the down-low so that we don't have teenagers barreling into danger," Free murmured, glancing at Lance and Nashi.

Bickslow looked to Lisanna who shrugged knowingly.

"Sure thing!" Bickslow laughed.

"If you come back with a broken leg, I will beat you," Lisanna sighed.

"That was one time," Bickslow objected.

"And it took six months to heal," Lisanna recalled. Bickslow laughed nervously.

"It'll be me, him, and Jellal so he'll have plenty of supervision," Freed assured Lisanna.

"I am not a child," Bickslow huffed.

Evergreen, Freed, Lisanna, Rui, Mui, and Yui all stopped what they were doing to look at Bickslow with blank faces. Bickslow sweatdropped.

"Really? Really?" Bickslow's dolls asked floating up to him.

"Shut up, you traitors," Bickslow grumbled. He then looked to his dolls. "Puppu, Peppe, you're staying here to help out with my babies."

The two dolls nodded eagerly and flew over to the triplets in Evergreen's arms. Rui reached out for Peppe eagerly with a giggle.

"We'll be back in a jiffy," Bickslow assured Lisanna.

"I know," Lisanna nodded. "Then, it's my turn to go on a solo job and have a break."

"As you wish, Baby," Bickslow laughed.

From across the guild, the Fullbuster twins were scheming.

"I still don't understand why we're doing this," Silver murmured as he crouched below a table and looked to his sister.

"Don't worry, just trust me," Ame assured her brother. "It's gonna be funny."

Silver shrugged, "I mean, I'm in either way."

Ame peered over the table and smirked, "Target in sight."

Storm was walking through the guild and stopped to study the job board. Ame glanced over to where Nashi was scolding Igneel and grinned evilly.

"Mission: 'Storm of Fire,' is a go," Ame smiled.

With that, Silver put his hand to the guild floor and discretely froze a part of the floor right behind Nashi. Ame leaped over the table and raced over to Storm.

"Hey! Big brother!" Ame called skidding up to Storm and smiling.

"Hmm?" Storm asked.

"You should take Nashi on this job!" Ame grinned innocently holding up a flyer.

"...Why? The reward is two tickets to the lover's cafe down the stree..." Storm began his voice dying down as he read it. Suddenly, his face turned red and Ame smirked.

"Ame, you little - "Storm threatened. Ame raised a finger and squirted a bit of water in Storm's eyes making the old boy recoil.

"You're too easily flustered, big bro," Ame scolded softly, tapping her foot impatiently. "You've gotta confess to Nashi before I do it for you."

"I'm going to give you frostbite, you little brat!" Storm hissed rubbing his eyes.

"You'd have to catch me first," Ame snickered before raising both of her hands and firing a torrent of water at her old brother before taking off across the guild. Storm, now soaking wet and very angry, was on her heels.

Ame winked at Silver as she approached. Silver whistled inconspicuously as he walked past Nashi, bumping into her and making her stumble back on the ice. Her eyes widened as she fell backward clumsily, right into the arms of Storm who was running after Ame.

Storm caught the girl and both their eyes widened.

"Thanks," Nashi smiled.

"Welcome," Storm answered slowly.

Giggling made both of them look over to Ame who was rolling on the ground with laughter.

"YOU BOTH ARE HOPELESS!" she laughed, holding her side.

"You're about to be hopeless when I'm through with you!" Storm threatened as Nashi straightened up out of his arms, blushing slightly.

Ame let out a small 'Eep' and ran away with Silver by her side.

"Sorry about that," Storm growled, looking to Nashi.

Nashi smiled sweetly and laughed, "Trust me, I understand how obnoxious little siblings can be!"

She seemed to glow and Storm turned a sudden shade of red before rushing off.

"AME!! I'M GOING TO KILL YOU!" he yelled, clearly flustered.

Lance watched Storm go and put a hand on his chin as he smiled, "Ah... I see what this is."

"What?" Emma demanded from his side.

"This, my dear sister, is called a teen drama," Lance smirked.

Emma looked at him for a moment. "What the hell is that?"

Lance sighed and glared at his younger sister.

"Have you ever even opened a book?" he demanded.

"No... You can't hit anyone with them when they're open," Emma shrugged. "Besides, books are for smart people like you and Mom."

Lance deadpanned and sighed. Jet then whizzed past them with their youngest siblings cheering eagerly.

"Is it bad that I had the urge to trip him?" Emma pondered staring after Jet.

"Considering that doing that could kill our siblings, yes. Yes, it's bad," Lance sighed, facepalming.

Jet continued whizzing around the guild, blowing past the three dragon slayers sitting at the bar who were planning.

"We can't do that," Shiro hissed. "Mom will kill me! If Dad is in trouble and I go after him she will murder me!"

"Oh please," Shido rolled his eyes as he thought of his own mother. "If anyone will die, it's me."

Kina looked to the table where her mother was sitting and her eyes narrowed as she eavesdropped on the conversation.

"If Dad's in trouble, then I'm not sitting here," Kina stated. She had heard the entire conversation and had relayed it all to the two teens at her side.

"Well, I'm not either but we're talking about stalking Freed!" Shiro hissed. "If we follow the search party, we'll get caught and what will our excuse be?"

"We went on a job," Shido offered.

"Dad'll kill me!!" Shiro whined. "He'll 'white dragon' kick the crap out of me for doing this. Remember what happened the last time I followed him into a dragon war?"

"He can't punish you if he's killed," Kina reminded him coldly.

"Don't say stuff like that, Kina!" Shiro reprimanded.

"You're almost fifteen-years-old, Shiro, get a little rebellious," Shido stated.

"Honestly Shiro, you're not acting too brave," Kina smirked. "Shido's nearly a year younger than you and he has no issue with it... and he's got the crazy sword mom."

Shiro puffed out his cheeks and crossed his arms.

"Look, when Aunt Wendy was my age she was kicking the crap out of full-grown dragons," Kina hissed as she stared at the guild door where Freed was talking to Bickslow. "If Dad's in trouble then he'll need backup. The three of us have some of the best tracking senses in the guild. If anyone can find them, it's us."

Shido looked to Shiro and raised his eyebrows. It was true. Shido and Shiro had the best eyesight out of anyone in the guild and Kina's ears were as keen as her father's.

"Okay, okay, fine," Shiro relented. "Let's go try and find our Dads... but for the record, this is your fault." He pointed to Kina who nodded.

"I'll take the heat," Kina agreed solemnly. "If Dad's in trouble, I don't care how many rules we break. We're getting them back.

The fourteen-year-old dragon slayers nodded to the girl before cautiously looking to the tables where their mother's sat.

"Problem number one," Shiro murmured. "How are we gonna convince them to let us take a 'job'? If our Dads are in trouble, they'll want to keep us close to the guild."

"I can do this," Shido murmured, the youngest boy jumping off the barstool and walking up to the job board before snatching a flyer and walking over to his mother. Kagura and her son talked for a few moments while Shiro and Kina looked on.

"Please say yes Mrs. Cheney. Please say yes," Shiro pleaded, crossing his fingers.

"She said yes," Kina told Shiro.

"YES!" the blonde grinned throwing his hands in the air and nearly falling off of the stool.

Shido strode back, grinning triumphantly.

"How'd you do that?" Shiro asked.

"Took a job that's near Mermaid Heel," Shido explained holding up the flyer. "Mom'll probably murder me when she finds out I lied so we better get going now."

"Agreed," Kina nodded looking back to the door where Freed was heading out with Bickslow. "Let's go.

"We're so dead if Dad isn't in trouble," Shiro sighed.
