Excitable Night Fury

"So let me get this straight," Stoick is staring at me. I only mimic the gesture. "Snotlout followed you to Slitherwing Island and dragged the twins with him. On the way there and when you arrived he tried to remove your mask on several occasions. Hiccup had to go out and bring them back to Berk, but he and Toothless were waiting for you on the island. Then they found you asleep, thought you'd been poisoned by a Slitherwing and brought you back here?"

"That sounds about right," I confirm. From the corner of my eye I catch Hiccup trying to secretly escape the hut. "Any objections, Hiccup?" I ask him, a smirk making its way under my mask. He freezes in his tracks and scowls at me. I simply wink back as he won't see anything else.

"Er, nope, that sounds about right, so I'm gonna go and... um... train with Toothless!" He scrambles for an excuse. "Son, take the Dragon Master back to Slitherwing Island, his dragons will be worried sick," Stoick orders his son.

Hiccup looks at me and I can tell he's holding in a laugh at the fact that Stoick is calling me a 'he'. "What's so funny?" Stoick asks. Hiccup gives me a can-I-tell-him look and I sigh but nod.

"Dad, they're a girl," he can't hold it in anymore and neither can Toothless. Stoick looks at me like I'm crazy, so I let my braided hair fall down past my shoulder. That's when he starts to look embarrassed. "You know, you look a lot like Heather," Hiccup comments.

I decide not to ask who this Heather person is and instead walk over to Toothless. "Feel like a trip to Slitherwing Island?" I ask the Night Fury. He responds by licking my face. "Toothless!" Hiccup sighs. "I am so sorry about him," he says to me.

"It's nothing I don't get on a regular basis," I shrug, gently pushing Toothless off of me. He curls his tail around me and uses it to push me closer to his back. When he doesn't stop even once I'm pressed against him, I get the message and climb on. He starts parading himself around like carrying me is a huge honour.

"Toothless seems fond of you," Stoick remarks. "I don't know why," Hiccup replies for me. "I think she knows why, but she's not saying anything." "That would be correct," I confirm, sliding off of Toothless. He doesn't seem to notice and continues prancing about. He's adorable.

"So how soon can we leave?" I ask Hiccup. "I doubt my dragons are going to be happy to wake up without me on the island. The last time that happened things got a little... let's say messy."

More like they ran amok out of worry and burnt half the island to the ground. We were replanting trees for weeks afterwards.

"We can leave right now if that's the case, do you feel up to it?" Hiccup asked. I nod, turning to mount my dragon, when... oh yeah. It's strange not to have a partner by my side.

Whether Toothless meant to save me or not I have no clue, but he ran up to me and nuzzled against me, making it look like I'd turned around so I could let him do so. I pet his scaly black head gently, silently thanking him.

"Let's go then, bud," Hiccup days to Toothless, opening the door. Since Stoick is in the room, I decide to make things awkward between father and son. "What did you mean last night when you said Stoick would kill you, Hiccup? He seems nice enough."

I hear a soft grunt from behind me and the familiar "Er..." from Hiccup. That's how I know my task was successful. I shut the door and Hiccup gives me another death glare. I only wink again, causing him to groan. "I don't know who's worse, the twins or you," he remarks.

"I am actually offended by that," I admit, causing him to laugh. He mounts Toothless and helps me up behind him, not that he needed to. Toothless takes off and we fly over Berk. I watch the beautiful island below me as we soar above it.

It takes me a moment to realise we're not going the right way. "Where are you taking me now, then?" I ask, annoyed. "I already told you that the girls won't be too happy when they find out I'm gone."

"I just want to show you something," Hiccup answers, steering Toothless upwards. "After that I'll take you straight back to Slitherwing Island." I raise an eyebrow at him. "What are you trying to show me?"

"You'll see, we're almost there," he answers cryptically. I sigh quietly and wait to get my answers, still quite annoyed that he basically kidnapped me. I understand that he had good intentions when he brought me here, but that isn't an excuse.

After a while we bank left and into the mouth of a cave on a tall mountain. I eye it suspiciously, the fact that I don't have my usual backup making me more defensive and alert than usual. Which says a lot for me.

The moment we land I dismount, folding my arms. "Why did you bring me here?" I demand. I feel like I've been doing this a lot lately. "Because there's a dragon here somewhere, Toothless and I found it when we were hiding during training. Don't ask."

I have to admit that I'm now intrigued. "What dragon is it?" I ask. "I'm not sure, I thought you might know," he admits. He starts walking and I follow, curious. I hope it's a dragon I haven't got in the sanctuary yet, I might just take them in.

"Down there," Hiccup says, pointing downwards. I look through a small crevice near the floor and see a hatchling sleeping on a pile of sand. I know what it is immediately and my hopes were not in vain.

"It's a Woolly Howl."
