Capture

Snotlout helps me onto Hookfang's back and smirks to me as though this means things will happen between us now. "Just let me know if you want it toasty, babe. Hooky here will make it happen."

"I'd rather date Hookfang," I retort. And to be honest, I meant it. Hookfang is a lot kinder and much more sensible, as well as being cuter and definitely more trustworthy. Hookfang licks my face, pleased by my answer.

"The dragon hunters came here for me," I tell the others. "I overheard two people talking. We need to get out of here."

"You heard them," Hiccup says. Toothless shoots one last Plasma Blast at the ships before flying off back to Berk. We all copy and follow.

I look around frantically for Flashwing, but I can't see her anywhere. "Has anyone seen Flashwing?!" I ask, panicking. If the hunters got her... I don't know what I'll do.

Everyone scans the area for her and our gazes rest on the dragon hunters. No... no... she couldn't have been caught, right? No! NO!

Rawk!

I look straight down and sigh in relief. Flashwing was flying underneath us the whole time. "She's here," I say breathlessly. "Thank Thor... you scared me, girl."

She flies upwards until she's level with Hookfang, their wings practically touching. I stand up and walk along them carefully until I can sit down on Flashwing's back. The touch of cold metal felt like a warm embrace after the shock I'd had.

"I thought they'd got you, girl," I whisper. She rawks again in apology. I smile slightly, though of course it's only behind my mask.

We fly the rest of the way back to Berk in silence, all lost in our own thoughts. Even the twins stay quiet for once. An improvement if you ask me.

When we arrive we land outside what I've learned they call the Great Hall. "So what now?" Astrid asks, dismounting Stormfly. "I don't know," Hiccup admits. "Any ideas, Artemis?"

I look to him. "You want my opinion?"

"It's your fight, too," he replies. "Well I know that I need to figure a few things out with my partners," I say, thinking. "Hopefully they have some kind of an idea."

"Can you speak to dragons or something?" Tuffnut asks. Then he gasped. "A power of Loki!"

I roll my eyes. "We have our methods of communication, but I can't speak their language," I tell them. "Now I really should head back out. I need to keep all my partners safe if those hunters are still out there."

"Are you sure it's safe to head out there on your own when they're after you?" Fishlegs asked. "I think it would be a better idea to stay for a while."

"And leave the others practically defenceless?" I scoff. "What's the point in saving one of us when the rest will crumple down as a result? I'd rather risk my safety than theirs."

Flashwing beats her wings and we're back in the air. "I'll be back in two days. We can discuss things then." With that Flashwing speeds off.

The others don't bother to follow, knowing I'll just send them back. I sigh quietly and pat Flashwing. "Thank Thor we can finally have some peace and quiet."

She rawks in agreement and continues to fly. The day starts to dim towards night until faint twinges of scarlet sunset decorate the sky. It's a lovely view.

Suddenly I'm encased within a net and am sent flying off of Flashwing, who rawks our in surprise. Thankfully she's safe.

I almost land in the ocean but instead am grabbed by two rough pairs of arms. "We got him!" A gruff voice shouts. I lash out through the net and am dropped. Quickly I leap off the boat and into the water.

I look around desperately for a Tidal Class dragon like a Thunderdrum or a Scauldron that could help me. Through the dark blue that surrounds me I eventually make out a figure approaching.

Once it gets closer I realise it's a Scauldron that's eyeing me curiously. I reach my hand through the net and offer it to the dragon, who looks at it for a moment before placing its head in my hand. Quickest taming time so far for me, probably because I'm in a net and already doused with water.

The Scauldron bites at the net I'm in, tearing it absent until I can escape. Petting it in thanks, I surface and take a long gulp of much-needed air.

I'm lifted from the ocean as the Scauldron surfaces along with me. I pop up on its head before it slides me down it's neck and onto it's back. "Careful, they're hunters," I warn the beast. "Think you can help me out?"

It nods and sprays water at the ships. I doubt anyone on board will have survived, save for any dragons that were locked away below deck thanks to their strengths.

I look upwards and see Flashwing circling worriedly. I whistle sharply to let her know that I'm on the Scaudron. When she sees me free and fighting back, she relaxes very slightly.

"Stay up there and stay safe, if something happens don't try and save me," I order her. "Just fly away and don't look back. Then grab some support from Berk. Am I clear?"

She rawks, as though she's certain it won't come to that, before shooting her barbs at a few hunters, killing them. The Scauldron continues blasting hunters, but ultimately there are too many.

When a chain grabbed me around the waist, I knew I was done for.

I was pulled onto a ship and held down by four men while I struggled ruthlessly against them. One drops to the floor, dead, thanks to Flashwing's precision.

But I'm outnumbered vastly and they win, successfully binding my wrists at my back. I snarl at them. "You pig-headed, revolting monsters!"

They just chuckle and drag me along. Flashwing streaks around overhead and I look to her. "Go!" She looks devastated, but obediently speeds away. The Scauldron gives me a reassuring look and slips under the water, the ship rocking very slightly.
