17 years later.

David sat alone with his friends John and Lucy, eating lunch together on the school grounds of Grimsberg High. The name made him feel like he belong there. Such a menacing name for a school. And to his disappointment, it was a cheerful school.

He instantly felt out of place. Then again, he felt out of place his whole life. He spotted Lucy tapping something on her iPad. He had one as well. He had no choice but to get one because it's required that all students have an iPad for school.

TextBooks were discontinued 3 years ago and all schools in the country  required students to own or have an iPad for homework and studies, as well as for classes. The knowledge from the textbooks were digitally installed to the iPad. Makes things easier for school.

David didn't really care for the iPad. He rather use books. He loved books. He loved to read. Kinda make since for him to have friends like Lucy and John.

John was a close friend of his ever since they were in Elementary School. They were best buds. John stood up for him when he was bullied for being different. No one wanted to fight him for how big he is.

John is 6.8 ft tall. Bulky figure with strong, masculine arms and 6 pack abs. He has brown hair and beige color eyes. Worked well with his tan. He's rather nice, despite the scowl that seems to appear on his face when he frowns. He dislikes bullies. Especially those who mess with his friends.

Still, people often wondered why he's even friends with David. They look so different. But everyone figured that the reason why was Lucy. Lucy is unique,  compared to others.

Lucy is 5.4 and has long black hair. Beautiful feature to go with blue eyes. Her angled face made her look similar to a cat. Fluid arms and well endowed. Elegant curves as well.

The uniqueness of her is her personality and her clothing choices. Most of her outfits are dark. Most of the time that you see her, she's wearing black. Like today. Wearing black taint top under a black jacket with short sleeves, black cargo pants and nice gothic style boots.

Her personality, however, it's what makes her interesting. She's usually shy. Doesn't like to talk much. She tried to be tsundere around others, but always fails around David. Like him, she loves to read. Explains why they're great friends as well.

She met David and John in middle school, when she transferred to their school. On her first day, she was picked on by some of the prissy girls attending the school. They messed with her clothing, talked trash and more. One girl dumped coca cola all over her new coat. That day, she met David and John. David rushed through the crowd to get to her and protected her as John got in the girl's faces.

"Leave her alone." John barked at them.

One of girls snickered. "What is it to you, John? You're messing with our fun."

The girl who spoke is a girl named Priscilla. Because of her rich dad, she does whatever she wants. She is popular among guys and a lot girls join her posse. Her dad just happens to be friends with the principal.

"This isn't fun. How would you feel if someone did this to you? David said.

He looked at the new girl. He can understand what she's going through. He disliked bullies. He was in her shoes at some point as well.

Another girl of the group giggled. Priscilla replied.

"It's none of your business, David."

She then covered her mouth and gasped.

"Don't tell me you care for her, do you? You like her?"

Another gasped.

"Ooooh, just picture the scandal. Heh heh." She snickered. The rest of the group giggled. Which caused John to bellow out.

"Back off Priscilla. Leave her alone or you'll have to deal with me."

She just snorted. Then she barked back. "What're gonna to do, Big John? I'll tell you what you're gonna do. You're gonna take David and leave us to our fun. You're not gonna do a thing to me. Remember that my father is friends wi--"

She was cut off when John slapped her hard. She touched her cheek. It had a bruise.

"Y-y-you s-s-slapped m-e." She stuttered tears forming in her eyes. He only just replied.

"I'll do more if you don't leave her alone. Now get out of here!"

She and her posse ran away. She was crying as she left. Meanwhile, David handed Lucy a cloth to wipe the stains off her coat. A low thank you was given in return. He looked at her.

"Are you alright?" He asked Lucy.

"I'm fine. Thank you." She replied to David.

He stood up and lend out a hand to help her up. She shakily accepted and stood up. Then she looked down glumly. Her voice sheepish and sad.

"You didn't have to help me."

David replied. "Don't worry about it. We don't like bullies."

He then stuck out his right hand.

"Nice to meet you. I'm David." He said with a a little lower than normal voice. With his left, he points at John. "And that is John." John just nods.

She slowly shook his David's hands. Then, with a shaky voice, she replied.

"Nice to meet you David, John. I'm Lucy."

"Nice to meet you Lucy. And don't worry about them. We'll help you out when need it." David said with a little smile.

Her eyes got wide and she smiled. "Thank you." She said.

And that's how she met them.

~present day~

Lucy was thinking of the past, of how they met while looking on her iPad, when David asked her something.

"Hey, Lucy. Did it say where to look for the equation to solve problem 54?" David asked. They were taking College Algebra in high school. She looked at him from her iPad. She always wondered about David. He looked so different. More than her. "I've believe," she said as she scrolled down the screen of the iPad. "That you have to use the equation 3.5 to solve problem 54."

Of the trio, David, by far looks the most different. He has scarlet colored hair. As though it was blood. His skin tone is pale with a little tan. Still little though. But what's sets him apart are his eyes. Red as his hair. He looked menacing. His attitude was abrasive. He always seem to be glum most of time. He, like her, wore dark clothing. Abyssal colored jacket. Red shirt. Black pants and black shoes. Nike.

You would have expected him to have black boots. He does. He just doesn't wear them often.

Also, he has muscle. Just definitely not as much as John. He's only 5.8.

"Thank you. Alright. That wraps up homework." He said, relieved.

"Wheeeeeeew." John sighed. "That was intense. A lot of homework. Good thing we decided to use lunch break to complete it."

he turned off his iPad and turned to David and Lucy.

"Hey guys, do you wanna hang out later after school? Since we don't have homework now?"

David replies. "Alright. I've nothing to do at the moment. How about you Lucy?"

She turns to him. "I've nothing as well. Sure. Let's hang out."

John just grins. "Great. Let's go to Renji's later. He has the best burgers later." They both nod.

Bell rings. Lunch is over.

"Alright guys." John says. "I'll see y'all later."

Lucy and David stand up. "Alright John." Lucy said. "We'll see you later." John then turns around and walks towards the school doors.

"Alright Lucy." David says with humor as he begins walking. "Let's face more boredom together."

She just laughed. "Alright David. Let's go."

Then the duo heard towards the entrance and towards more boredom.
