Nightling
I hang there, limp and defeated, like a wild dragon may do. They're taking me to the same spot Hiccup found Toothless in, by the looks of things. They probably did it to make sure I can't escape. Great.
Once they put me down, Heather starts slicing my bonds, allowing me to stretch and move around freely. I just growl at her, then shake myself down before lowering my head into the lake to catch some fish.
"What should we do with her?" Astrid asks. "She doesn't seem to like any of us." "Well she didn't leave straight away, so that's a start," Hiccup replies. "I have a feeling that we can train her if we're careful. She doesn't seem to want us hurt or dead or anything, just get back at us for catching her."
"Got that right," I roar. They all look at me, clueless to what I'm saying, before looking back at each other. I decide to see what they'll do if I make a move, so I spread my wings and silently take flight.
"Back on the ground!" Toothless roars, his scales glowing blue. He's using his Alpha abilities to keep me on the ground.
Funny thing is, I'm not completely affected by it.
I feel a tug towards the ground, my instincts telling me to obey, but I still have completely free will. I decide to play along for now and land, glaring at Toothless. "Those little Alpha tricks won't work on me," I say. "Perks of my kind, I'm guessing."
He grunts, clearly not pleased that he can't force me to do whatever he likes. "Got a name?" He questions. I think for a moment, then shake my head. "No. I have never needed one."
"Good, because my human Hiccup has been thinking of them," Toothless states. "I see," I nod slowly. "For my sake please tell me he's good at it, then."
He chuckles. "He could do better sometimes, but he's definitely not the worst."
I nod again, then dip my head into the lake for more food. "So If you're not affected by my orders, why did you stay here?" Toothless questions me. I raise my head again and finish off a tasty perch before answering.
"Because you lot would just follow me and capture me in those horrible nets again," I say. "And you're a Night Fury, so I'm not sure I can outrun you. It would be foolish of me to leave right now."
Before he can say anything more, I'm approached by the humans. "Hello there, girl," Hiccup says. "I see you've met Toothless."
I open my mouth wide and move into an attacking position, causing everyone to move out the way, expecting a blast. I snicker at them. Toothless joins in once he realises I'm not going to cause any real trouble.
I then walk off and lay down on a patch of soft grass, covering myself with my wings. I might as well try and sleep like a wild dragon would do. But luck is not on my side as Hiccup approaches again, this time with Heather, Astrid and Fishlegs in tow.
I slap Heather and Fishlegs with my tail as I still need to do that, then leave them all be. "Ooh! Me next!" Tuffnut shouts, running over to me and holding out a mace. "This is Macey, hit me over the head with her!"
I do so and knock him sideways into the lake, snickering. Being a captured wild dragon is more fun than I suspected. "Well she's got a sense of humour," Astrid remarks, smirking slightly. "Just imagine what she could do to Snotlout."
At that, I stand up and stalk over to the male viking, looking Astrid in the eye for a split second. Her smirk widens and she hurries over to get a front row seat.
"Um... why is that thing looking at me like that?" Snotlout asks, pointing to me. "That thing?!" I growl. He starts backing up, nervous. Good.
I strike him across the face with my tail, then coil it around his leg and start flying, spinning around the place like a Typhoomerang. "Aaaaah!" Snotlout screams like a baby.
With a final backflip, I drag his face across the lake and drop him into the centre, pleased with my work. I land next to Astrid and snicker. She joins in.
"That dragon is crazy!" Snotlout states, dragging himself back onto dry land. He's soaking wet thanks to me. "It's way to violent to be around us!"
I look to Astrid expectantly and she delivers. "It's not violence, it's communication," she smirks, making it sound like a dumb statement on Snotlout's part. I nod in approval.
"Someone likes you, Astrid," Hiccup remarks, looking at us both. "Maybe she'll let you train her." Astrid glances at me. "What do you think, girl? Up to the task?"
I snort dismissively and lay down, making the most of the early morning sunrise that's finally peeking over the horizon. I guess we've been out all night.
"If we're going to train her, she needs a name," Astrid points out. I can tell all eyes are on me. "Good point," Heather agrees. "So what do we name the Stealthwing?"
I open one eye and look up at them all. They're all looking back down at me, trying to work out a name. "I've got it!" Tuffnut suddenly yells. "Her name shall be Cooler Ruffnut! Because she acts like Ruffnut, but she's cooler!"
He looks to his twin. "Sorry, sis. You've been replaced. But maybe you can find a new twin."
Ruffnut proceeds to punch him in the face, knocking him over. I walk over to Tuffnut and look down at him. "Cooler Ruffnut, help!" He yells. I just snicker and walk off again.
"Nightling, that's enough," Hiccup says, breaking from a chat between Astrid, Heather and Fishlegs. I look to him curiously. Nightling?
"Like the name, then?" He asks me. I think about it for a moment, then just decide to sit down.
So I'm known as Nightling now... it's just like Toothless said; it could be better, but it could always be way worse.
