Fight And Flight

The minute I get outside a hand covers my mouth, so I instinctively move my leg up. Whoever it was that did that, they're clearly a boy because I hit them right where the Whispering Deaths tunnel and they yelled in pain, collapsing to the floor while letting go of me.

I waste no time in grabbing my sword and pointing it at their throat. I sigh in relief when I see who it is. "Hiccup, Astrid, why are you here?"

"Not to see you point a sword at my throat," Hiccup remarks, causing me to roll my eyes but put my sword back where it belongs. "I personally liked the low blow," Astrid says with a smirk.

"Look, it's not safe here," I tell them, sprouting lies. "There was a dragon hunter base in here and I just took it out. The dragons are all escaping and so are the hunters, so we have to move fast!"

"Okay," Hiccup agrees, mounting Toothless. Astrid does the same with Stormfly. "Where's your dragon?" Astrid asks. That's when I realise I can't fly home.

"Stylive went off to escort some dragons away from here," I lie. "She knows I'm going to find my own way back, so she's going straight to the sanctuary once she's done."

"Need a ride?" Hiccup offers. "Toothless, do you mind?" I ask the Night Fury. "Hop on!" He roars back, bounding over to me. I nod to him gratefully and climb on behind Hiccup.

We're quick to take off, much to my relief. I can't wait to get out of here. I can't believe those Morphwings! Trying to capture and command me like that!

"Indigo, are you okay?" Hiccup asks, looking over to me. "Just fine," I reply, looking to him briefly before watching Toothless's wings, which seem to vanish into the inky blackness of the night.

"So how exactly were you planning to get back to your sanctuary without a dragon?" Astrid asks. "Long story short, never trust that a dragon will choose you over their mate," I say, hoping this will be enough.

Thankfully it seems to be as they simply chuckle. "So have you found out anything more about Stealthwings?" I question, changing the subject... sort of. "We think they might not be able to breathe fire," Hiccup says.

"What?" They can definitely breathe fire. Where is he going with this? "Neither one of the Stealthwings spat out any kind of fire," Hiccup explained his incorrect theory. "One even tried to fire at us but nothing happened. I'm thinking that the reason why they're so fast and agile is to make up for their lack of firepower."

This actually sounds like an interesting theory, even know I know for a fact that it's not true. I pretend to think about it for a moment. "Maybe. It's always possible, I suppose."

"Island up ahead," Astrid states. I look down there and see that she's right. My island is just on the horizon. Good. I can't wait to get home.

"What's that?" Hiccup asks, pointing at something on the island. I look over and see it instantly. "Dragon hunter ships," I state, growling slightly. I earn surprised looks, but I ignore them. "Hiccup, get to Stormfly with Astrid and both of you get out of here. Toothless is much better in the darkness so he can help keep me hidden while I take the hunters out."

"Why can't I stay with Toothless?" Hiccup asks. "Because what I'm about to do is not for the faint of heart and I don't want you throwing up on the poor Night Fury," I say. "That makes two of us," Toothless states, then lifts his head up and licks my cheek.

"Hiccup, She has a point," Astrid smirks, offering her hand to him. He sighs but takes it and climbs onto Stormfly next to Astrid. I shuffle forwards in Toothless's saddle and place my foot on the metal plate that controls his tail fin.

"Do you remember how to use that?" Hiccup asks, gesturing to the fin. "I've used it more recently than you'd expect," I reply. "Now all three of you have to go to the Sentinels and tell them that I sent you in for Manoeuvre 131. They'll tell Stormfly what to do from there, so trust her. And don't worry about the Sentinels attacking you, they know you're welcome here."

"You have 131 manoeuvres?" Astrid asks. "Three hundred," I answer. "Manoeuvre 131 is a basic defence procedure. If it was Manoeuvre 132 it would be a full-scale lockdown. Now hurry before those hunters find one of my pack. Go to the Sentinels and make sure you're not in the line of fire. Toothless and I will take them down before too much damage can be done."

At last they finally head in the opposite direction to the hunters, where the Sentinels are discussing what to do without moving too much to give away their location. "Alright, Toothless, will you help me?" I ask the Night Fury.

"Let's kick some human butt!" He roars. "Kicking butt it is," I laugh. He looks up at me in surprise. "I'll explain in a second, but know that there are more tricks up my sleeve. Now let's get down there."

We swoop downwards silently. A Sentinel's roar attracts attention, though I'm the only 'human' who understood it. The Sentinels are telling Stormfly what to do. Good, they're doing what I asked and not playing hero.

"Plasma Blast, please," I whisper to Toothless, pointing towards the lone ship that's only just being abandoned for the crew to look around my home. Toothless obeys and fires at the ship, engulfing it in flames. Screams are immediately heard from the hunters.

"The Cursed Islands are defending the Dragon Sanctuary! The legends are true!" They shout to one another, scrambling to escape the ship and save their precious cargo.

"Drag a Plasma Blast along the ground to cut them off," I tell Toothless, who obeys and effectively blocks the rest of the island from the hunters, who have nowhere to go.

Toothless lands on a boulder and I leap off of him, slitting throats as I go. The hunters fall to my feet, defenceless, until all have perished. I turn back to Toothless with a smirk as I remove my mask. "Now that that's over, let's go get Hiccup."
