~Lucy~
I exited the room hearing commotion downstairs. Everyone was talking, smiling, and being their selves. It put a smile on my face, knowing that everything was back the way it was. I moved down the stairs to find Natsu. When I came closer he turned around, his eyes lighting up the moment he saw me. "Lucy!" He announced running before picking me up in his arms. Natsu hugged me tightly, as I returned his hug. We both pulled away, but our arms still holding each other. "Are you feeling better?" He asked, concerned if I still felt like I was being electrocuted.
I shook my head. "I feel better than I did last night. But, I had a strange dream. A dream I can't recall for some odd reason." It itched the back of my head since Hades left. I don't remember falling asleep, it was almost as if someone made me. I closed my eyes, searching to remember something, but the pieces never clicked together. Natsu caressed my face, pulling me away from my thoughts. "Well, you'll never believe who showed up on our doorsteps last night." Natsu lead me through the crowd when I saw the three mages standing side by side. My eyes beamed to see them.
"Jellal, Meredy, Ultear!" I ran to them, making a group hug with the four of us. The three mages smiled down at me. "It's good to see you awake Lucy, everyone here has been worried," Jellal said with his melancholy smile. Meredy nodded. "It's true! Natsu and Gwen kept checking on you more times than I could count! It was ridiculously adorable to watch!" Ultear sighed, as she shook her head. I was about to say something when the announcer spoke to the Fairy Tail guild, through a lacrima. "Good morning everyone! Before we begin today we wish for all competitors to get ready for the second day of the Games. It won't be starting until later in the afternoon, so you will have all morning to wake up! We will make another announcement to inform you all to know when it's time to make it back to the stadium! Until then, enjoy yourselves and get your last moments of rest!"
Jellal looked down. "Well, that's our signal to leave." Erza, who was behind him, moved to his side. "But, you just got here. Must you leave so soon?" She asked with pitiful eyes. The Crime Sorcière mages looked away. "We're still criminals, Erza, it's bad enough we even visited. But, we wanted to see you guys." Jellal looked towards Erza. "We're sorry," Jellal whispered, as he pulled his hood up from his cloak, "but Crime Sorcière is still on a mission. One where we can't fail at all costs." The members pulled their hoods up and headed for the doors.
I glanced around my nakamas, all of them holding sadness in their eyes. Erza looked heartbroken. I put my hand over my heart, telling me to do something... "Wait!" I called halting the guild from exiting the doors. I ran up to Jellal. "What if I can help you?" I asked staring into his eyes. His eyes grew as if he knew what I meant. "Th-That's impossible Lucy. Crime Sorcière is the most wanted guild because of being involved with Zeref! How can you change that?" I smirked, knowing the answer to his question. "I know someone that can erase your bad name. All I'm asking is for you to trust me." I extended my hand out, hoping he would take it.
Jellal stood in his place thinking over the possibilities of what could happen. Then, he looked at Erza. Erza watched Jellal like a hawk, giving him a smile. "It's okay," The scarlet-haired mage said, "you can trust her word." Jellal looked over to his comrades like he was making sure he was okay to go. Meredy nodded with a smile on her face. Ultear didn't move. "I don't know Jellal, what if something goes wrong?" She asked taking a small step back. I stepped forward to look at her. "Then I'll take responsibility for my mistake. I assure you nothing will happen to Crime Sorcière."
Jellal, after a minute of saying nothing, sighed. "...Okay." He took my hand when I looked back at the guild. "We'll be back. And once when we're back, Crime Sorcière won't have to leave us ever again." I turned to the door, leaving the inn with Jellal by my side. We walked in silence when I looked both ways, and let go of his hand. My hands went in front of me, and I whispered a spell to open a portal. "Where are we going?" The mage asked behind me. The portal opened, waiting for us to go through. I looked back at Jellal. "We're going to the Council, to settle this once and for all.
~•~•~
Jellal was shaking as we walked through the halls of where the Council stayed. I told him countless times he was safe, but from being on the run for so long, I understood how anxious he was. I made sure he was close to me, so no one would get any clever ideas of taking him. I turned a corner, finding the office of the Head Council. I glanced back at Jellal once and gave him a signal to not speak when we enter. I knocked on the door then entered before the Head Council told us to come in.
There, sat Daniel StormCloud. He was looking out through the tall windows, sitting in silence. He was wearing the same robes from yesterday, with his room darkly lit. When the doors closed he slowly turned to face us. "May I help you?" He asked, still sitting. I made my posture poised. "I've come here to talk with you, Head Council." Daniel laughed softly, putting his arms on his desk. "Please Lucy, forget the formalities. Call me Daniel." He put his eyes on Jellal. "Is that the wanted criminal that was a part of Zeref's plan during the Tower of Heaven?" Jellal became stiff, waiting to see if guards would come in through the door at any second. I cleared my throat so Daniel's attention would come back to me. "Yes, and that is what I wish to talk about. I would like for you to drop charges against Crime Sorcière."
Daniel smiled. "That's it?" He questioned, tilting his head. Sweat rolled down my neck, but I kept my composure. "Yes. If you don't agree with me, then I'll have my Guardian come and also speak with you." Daniel busted out laughing. His head went back as he held his sides. "You mean, the Giver!" He yelled still laughing. I grinned. "You seem to be laughing at the most powerful woman in Fiore, Daniel. She overpowers you, and all the Council. Furthermore, she's my Guardian. If you anger me, then you anger her." Daniel wiped away a tear from laughing and showed a big smile. "Oh Lucy, I wouldn't give a damn what the 'Giver' says."
My eyes dilated, as my heart plunged.
The Head Council stood from his chair. "If you don't know, I am more powerful than the Giver is. In fact, if your Guardian saw me here standing in front of her, then you would be surprised how afraid she would be." Daniel walked from behind his desk. "However," He began, leaning on the side of the heavy desk. "I'm curious about...well, you." He moved again, this time in front of the desk. "If you insist on letting Crime Sorcière free, then I will personally drop their charges. I will inform Fiore, even EarthLand, to tell every living soul Crime Sorcière is free." Daniel was moving again, this time to come closer to me. "If, you stay for a bit longer." Daniel finished, not even a foot away from me.
Jellal grabbed my arm, his grip tight and scared. "I don't like this Lucy, let's just go back." He whispered, hiding in his hood. My head was low as I looked at the ground. "You'll drop the charges if I stay in your office a few more minutes?" I asked, my eyes moving back to the Head Council. Daniel nodded. "Of course, that's all I ask of you."
"Lucy, we need to go!" Jellal begged when he started to pull me back to the door. "I accept your offer." I replied, pulling my arm away from Jellal. "Lucy no!" The blue-haired mage yelled when Daniel clapped his hands. "Wonderful. I hereby announce the guild Crime Socière, free of their charges. You're a free man Jellal Fernandes." Daniel snapped his fingers when a locket of the councils' symbol appeared around Jellal's neck. "To make sure you aren't arrested on sight, the symbol shall put you under my protection, until we finally announce the guild's freedom." Daniel opened the doors with a flick of his hand. "Now, off you go boy. There are matters I need to attend to."
"Lucy please, I'm begging you..." I turned to Jellal and showed him a smile. "I'll be fine. Go back to the inn, I'll be back soon enough." Jellal's face became grim, he didn't want to leave me alone with Daniel. I waved my hand to signal him to leave before the Head Council changed his mind. Jellal left when I heard the doors closed. I was alone with the Head Council.
Daniel StormCloud came forward, his arms crossing over his chest. "Please, sit." A chair out of nowhere appeared behind me. I sat down, obeying the Head Council so I could leave sooner. Daniel moved to the back of the chair and placed his hands on my shoulders. I went stiff when he leaned forward to my ear. "I'm disappointed, Lucy." He whispered, crushing my left arm. A whimper escaped my lips when he let go, but the pain still pulsing in my skin. "Yesterday, I was expecting to see the powerful Lucy Heartfilia firsthand. Instead, I witnessed a joke, a weakling, on that battlefield." Daniel moved when he was in front of me again. "Do you remember me?" He said, with a face, I couldn't read.
Do I remember him? I've never seen him until yesterday, what does he mean?
Daniel sighed, turning away. "As I expected, you don't remember." The tall man didn't say a word when he faced me again. "Do you remember the Giver?"
"What are you talking about?" I said my head starting to hurt. Daniel stepped closer, our faces not even an inch apart. "You don't even remember your birth?" My birth...the Head Council moved away. "Don't disappoint me again, Lucy. Or else I will make you remember where your place is, and where mine is." The doors to his office opened, meaning it was my time to leave. I got up from the chair, about to leave when Daniel called out. "Lucy," He began. "one way or another, you will remember. And when you do, I'll have no choice but to put a stop to you."
"What do you mean?" I yelled looking at the back of his head. "What are you saying about me remembering something! About my birth?" The man sighed. "Please, go. Before you push my patience to its limit." I wanted to continue the argument, but a part of me was terrified of seeing his angry side. That part of me told me to run and not look back. I ran out of the office, the doors closing itself when I sprinted to the exit of the building.
"One way or another, you will remember. And when you do," I flew out of the entrance and summoned my wings to fly. "I'll have no choice but to put a stop to you."
If I remember something, something I don't even understand what Daniel means, he'll kill me. But, what is it he wants me to remember so badly that he will end my life?
