The last age to finish, the Age of Atrocities, saw the Great War's conclusion. Out of the ashes of a two thousand year war a fractured world clambered into the light. The literary works which come from this age would, without a doubt, become legend, myths, and claims to fame by future nations. The changes which this age saw left dragonkind reeling, searching for what we had lost. This age saw the fall of great elvish civilizations and the creation of a power vacuum in the Eastern lands. A behemoth rose out from the west and made his name known across the globe. The Age of Atrocities saw entrenched the mistrust and hatred most dragons felt for elves and put humanity in a new light. 

This is purely speculation, so do not take the rest of this paragraph as a sacred prophesy, but humanity, despite losing the most members in the Great War, may be uniquely poised to expand globally. Elves, despite having several times more numbers, have a history steeped in internal and external conflict. Humans have this fault, but to a lesser extent as they have created race wide policies before in order to benefit their kind regardless of language or internal squabbles. We dragons, are still in political shock from the loss of a unifying ruler. This weakens the defense of our last stronghold, the Southern Continent.  Humans could take this opportunity to uproot us, displacing our people  and permanently scattering our kind.

In any account, the Age of Atrocities, fresh in the minds of dragons, elves, and older humans, will have wide ranging effects on the world at large for a long time to come.
