Sights

The next morning came early as the two could hear the rousing of the children and their not-so-light footsteps running around the hotel.

After a quick shower and dressing, Donovan and Delilah stepped into the hall and watched Jason run by as Isaiah and Ezra were at his heels with a NERF gun.

"Sorry!"He waved his hands around as Julie came up behind them, laughing.

"We tried to stay as quiet as possible, but it's almost 11."

Delilah's eyes widened when she checked her phone and looked up at Donovan.

"You didn't wake me?"

"You needed the rest," he leaned in, "And so did I, to be honest."

Julie walked away quickly when Jason came up behind them. She suddenly felt so very shy—even though the two had had quite the romp in the shower the night before.

"We're going to get some brunch," Donovan said, "And then...."

He turned to face the four little being who had come up behind them,

"We're going to the aquarium!"

"Yesss!!" A very enthusiastic Beatrice made her excitement well-known.

"Let's get some food and then we'll head out," Delilah said, swallowing hard, "I'll be right there."

Donovan hesitated when Delilah turned back to the bathroom, but he and Jason heard Julie calling so they took the kids to the dining hall for brunch.

Delilah leaned over the sink, her nausea growing stronger.

"No more late nights for me," she said to herself, "No more mimosas and then too much sunshine."

She wiped her face and brushed her teeth after bile had come up into the sink.

Taking one more look at herself, she smiled and headed out.

Donovan took note of how pale his queen looked.

"Are you alright?"

"Yes, I think I just have a hint of heartburn," she said, "It's passed."

"Well, I won't be getting you peanut butter in the middle of the night anymore," Donovan teased, "Could have been the oil?"

"Yeah," Julie said, "Try natural peanut butter. Dad gets it all the time until Mom buys the natural kind that he can't stand."

Jason laughed, "Well, I'm stuffed. Miss Del, do you just want a water or a Gatorade or something?"

"Um, yes, please. I'll take a Gatorade if you're getting up.."

Jason nodded and headed to the kitchen.

"Are you alright with going out or do you need us to stay here and let Jason and Julie take the kids?" Donovan asked, "I don't want you to feel like you have to go if you're not well."

Delilah waved her hand and smiled, "I'm fine now. Who's excited for the aquarium?"

The Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo was a hit—and not just for the kids.

Delilah and Donovan strolled hand in hand as the OOOS and AHHS of the crew echoed through the halls. Considering it was situated within the walls of the Dubai Mall—the largest in the world—Donovan figured the entire day would be spent there.

"I didn't know how we were going to fit all of this in, but you have everything planned out," Delilah said in awe as she squeezed Donovan's hand, "Thank you."

"Thank you for letting me drag you out of the country," Donovan joked.

"Oh, you definitely pulled my leg," Delilah said, playfully, "The kids are really enjoying it, but I have never been so happy, Donnie."

Donovan knew that—he knew that even if she never said a word to him. He knew that when they were in bed together, not making love, not being intimate—when they were watching a movie or going for a drive—or even making dinner together.

He knew.

After their first adventure, the crew got lunch and Olivia begged to go to the indoor ice skate rink which everyone agreed on.

"I am not surprised the kids know how to skate," Donovan said, eyeing Jason as he twirled Julie around the ice, "That one played hockey."

"Well, that one is in ballet and did figure skating," Delilah said as she watched Julie show off her moves as well, "I have to use the restroom."

"The only thing annoying is having to take off these blasted skates," Donovan said, "I'll escort you."

Delilah didn't argue, but she was feeling woozy again.

"We did get lots of sun yesterday," Julie said when she and her aunt settled in to watch the kids skate while Donovan and Jason spoke about matters in Boston, "I know when I get too much sun, Dad has to remind me to drink a lot because I feel so weird."

"It's like I have a hangover that comes in waves," Delilah said, "I had so much bile come up earlier, but it was peanuts and,-"

"Sunny mimosas," Jason joked, "I hope you'll be alright. Can't be getting sick on your vacation, Miss Del!"

"When did you grow up on me?" Donovan tsked at his son, playfully.

Jason rolled his eyes and laughed, "22 is closer than you think, Dad. I might as well stsrt a retirement plan now while I'm a young whipper snapper."

Donovan sighed and pointed to his silver streaks in his hair, "I see your age every time I look in the mirror."

Delilah laughed, "Oh, hush. Both of you are very handsome men. Now, let's get the kids and grab some of that delicious, authentic Dubai cuisine. I am absolutely famished!"
