Different
The alarm clock woke Delilah and she rolled over, blissful as can be, until she realized that she didn't put herself in that bed.
"Oh no!"
She sat up and checked her body. She still had her dress in, but no shoes. Her phone was next to her on the nightstand and the house was quiet, not even the music was playing any longer.
She listened for any movement, but heard nothing. Her phone buzzed.
Millie.
"Good morning, sunshine! I hear a certain person's car is still parked in your driveway!"
Donovan's Lamborghini.
Gathering her thoughts while Millie talked, Delilah made her way to the interior of the home and looked around. Nothing was amiss, but she noticed all of her dishes were done and the blender was even drying on the counter on top of a dish towel.
There was a note-
"Delilah,
Thank you for a wonderful evening. I hope to see you tomorrow around 9. I placed the margarita in the freezer so it should be good to go for another drink or two. Don't worry,I got a cab home and will message you when I arrive and when I'm heading out. Hope you have the sweetest of dreams."

She let Millie blabber on as she checked her messages. Sure enough, Donovan had texted her that he'd made it to the hotel.
Her stomach fluttered like a schoolgirl with a crush.
But that's not what this was. This was just a man who was going to have a one night stand with her.
"Are you coming in late?" Millie asked, already knowing the answer.
"I have to meet up with Donovan in an hour," Delilah said,"Nothing happened last night, by the way."
Millie sighed,"Do you think it would have if you'd pursued him? "
Delilah thought about it.
Would he have slept with her last night?
"Do I need to cancel? Should I come in? I have to call the kids!"
Millie laughed, "No, no and tell them I said hi! You have to give me details about last night, honey. He was there way passed one in the morning."
Delilah smiled,"I promise. Today he's showing me his items."
A silence on the other end made Delilah nervous.
"It's your ex.. "
Delilah gasped, "What does he want?"
Millie waited a moment and mumbled into the phone,"He's with her. Call me later. "
A click and she hung up.
Delilah called the kidsl. Dean said they were fine and sugared up on breakfast cereal.
She hated being without them. Delilah was always worried Brett would take them from her and never be seen again.
She hurriedly washed up and grabbed a pair of jeans and a blouse, making sure she looked casual, but not too laid-back.
Slipping on her sandals, Delilah heard a car pull up in the drive and rushed to the window in time to see Donovan grab some bags out of the back and pay the driver.
"God, that man is so good looking... " Delilah watched him walk up the cobblestone path, so very sure of himself.
Or was he?
"You're seeing that girl from the club?" Les had asked Donovan when he told him he had a client in Salem.
"I am," he said, on his way out that morning to meet the driver, "She's the last one."
"You like her?"
"I don't mix my feelings with my business."
"Not at all what I fucking asked, Donnie," Les scoffed, "I asked if you liked her."
Donovan sighed, "She's different."
"Ahh, you like her."
"Jesus Christ, can I do my job without you thinking I'm gonna settle down?"
"You've been dying to settle down for years. Melanie wants you to settle down, your kids... me.." Les went on,"You've never said a woman was different, you've never paid for their time and you've never asked about a woman from the club. Does she know you're the one who approached her friends?"
"She's hot and no. I asked them to be discreet for now. I told them that's how I got my women and they bought it. No biggie."
"Yeah, I know what she looks like, but you're different.. You've been like a pubescent teenager since running into her at the club, but your dumbass thinks love doesn't really exist, especially not for you."
"I gotta go, Les. I'll be back in a few days and then I have to fly out with her to the lake house, but I'll be off to Dubai after that. "
"You're really gonna be gone for two years, man? I know it's a big project.. "
"My kids are scattered and doing their own thing and it's my job to build shit, Les. Come visit me in Dubai."
With that, he'd gotten into the cab and heard over to Delilah's place. It had taken everything in his power not to take her to bed the night before. She was the sweetest thing in the world and he didn't want to taint that.
"Hi!"
He smiled, looking up as she stood at the top steps of her porch.
"Hi.." he said, smiling even more when she began blushing after looking at his bags, "Did you have sweet dreams?"
Delilah shrugged, "I don't remember my dreams, but thank you for last night. I'm sorry I passed out."
Donovan placed the bags on the floor in the kitchen and followed her gaze.
He already missed her face and he wasn't even on the plane to Dubai yet.
"Are those.."
Donovan nodded, "Yep, these are most of the items I use on my clients, not the same ones of course. I buy different ones."
Curiosity got the best of her and Delilah leaned closer as Donovan unzipped one of the bags and opened it.
"Jesus, Mary, and Joseph... .I'm gonna need to go to confession after this."
