"Mommy! Can we swim?"
Ezra asked when Delilah and Donovan emerged from below deck.
Jason and Julie had already shred their top layers, with Jason wearing nothing but his trunks and Julie in her little yellow bikini. It didn't take an expert to see that Jason couldn't take his eyes off of her, but then Donovan couldn't stop ogling his queen.
The ship's crew were delightful as was Captain Merrill who'd lived in Dubai since he was three.
"We're not at all far off the coast and the water is perfect," he told them, "You're welcome to swim for as long as you wish."
"Excellent, Merrill. Thank you!"
After the ladder was lowered, Jason got into the water first, followed by Julie and then the children.
"Come on, Aunt D! It's so nice!" Julie splashed around with Olivia who'd leeched onto her cousin.
Delilah climbed down the ladder, glancing up momentarily at Donovan whose gaze wasn't lustful or needy..
No, it was pure love.
"Oh, wow, the water is nice.."
Delilah slipped into the sea, gathering Ezra into her arms as he approached her.
She waved to Merrill who seemed completely satisfied with the moment.
After a while, the children grew restless and hungry, but so did the others. They boarded the yacht to find all sorts of food to eat and drinks to be had.
"You think of everything," Delilah said as Donovan handed her a plate, "I'll never go hungry with you, that's for sure."
Donovan leaned in, "My appetite for you is ravenous so I understand completely."
A little time spent eating and chatting and a few more dips in the water before they set sail again, floating down the coast until the Dubai sun was lowering.
"This is absolutely breathtaking," Delilah said as they watched the sunset.
"Not as breathtaking as you, Del."
Donovan kissed her cheek before motioning to Merrill that they had had enough for the day.
Delilah yawned as they exited the yacht, followed by a whiny Olivia who wanted to be carried.
Before Delilah could protest, Donovan scooped up the child and cradled her to him, with Olivia looking more than content.
Even more content than she was in Brett's arms.
"They should sleep well tonight," Delilah said as the group settled into the limo for the ride back to the hotel, "You confused me earlier when you said we would have a day or two in Burj Al Arab...?"
Donovan smiled,"We're going to be relocating to another fine hotel, but one with some more rooms and a different theme. I hope you don't mind."
Delilah laughed,"You only did this because I couldn't decide where to stay."
Donovan nodded,"That's why we're doing everything you circled and staying at all the hotels you highlighted."
"Donnie, -"
Jason cleared his throat,"If I may, Miss Delilah...?" He smiled at his father and back at her, "You're going to get the best of the best because you deserve it and you don't expect it. My Dad is going to make sure of that. It makes him happy to see you happy."
Delilah blushed. Those Dixon Boys were just their dad... and Julie was getting a mighty fine tour of that first hand.
The kids were exhausted once they got into the limo, but their adrenaline revved up as soon as they arrived back into the hotel to shower and prepare for dinner.
"Aunt Delilah, can you help me make some sandwiches for dinner?"
Delilah hesitated, watching her children play a video game with Donovan and Jason, even though it was amusing to watch Jason steal glanced at Julie when she wasn't looking.
"They're fine," Julie said, taking her aunt by the hand,"Come on. We'll be fast. I want to talk to you about some personal stuff..."
Because Delilah was always a giver, she was eager to be the ear and shoulder her niece needed.
Once the two were gone, Jason manned the entrance to the room to make sure they wouldn't interrupt. Julie knew that was happening, but definitely not Delilah.
Donovan settled the children on the couch and sat across from them. He was more nervous than he'd ever been in his life.
"What's up, Mr. Donnie?" Isaiah asked, curiously,"You OK?"
"Well, I wanted to run something by the four of you first because it's very important to me and hopefully to your mother," Donovan began, his palms sweaty, knees weak and his leg bouncing, "You know I love your mom very much and I do love the four of you as well. I will never take the place of your father, but I'd like to be at least a pivotal figure in your life. I'd like to give you and your mother the world, or as much of it as I can."
"What's pivotal?" Olivia asked, her face scrunched up in confusion.
Beatrice grinned, "Important.. it means important, right?"
Ezra beamed, "You are very important. Mommy smiles a lot now and that makes you so very important."
Isaiah crossed his arms, ever the man of the house. He was very protective of his family, especially his mother after seeing what she'd find through with their father.
"I like you, Mr. Donnie, are you.. are you asking..." a little smile enveloped the young child's face.
"I want to ask your Mom to be my wife, but I am hoping beyond the moon and back and beyond to get your blessings first."
