Chapter 3
Taehyung's POV
"Baek..." I mumbled.
"You forgot the passcode again, didn't you?" My brother crossed his arms.
"Why does it have to be so hard? Why can't it be 1234?" I argued.
"If it was that easy, everyone would be able to get in." He flicked my forehead and I cringed at the sting.
"Just tell me the password already!" I yelled.
"4864" Baekhyung answered as he entered it in. The door beeped and unlocked. I rolled my eyes in annoyance and shoved past him.
"That's a stupid password. 1234 is better."
We walked in through the door and up the stairs. Once we reached the top, I jumped with excitement when I saw my dolphin. "Blue!"
She swam to the surface and onto the platform. The other dolphins joined and waved their tails at us. I giggled and jumped into the tank, only to be yelled at by my brother.
"Tae! Get out of there! This isn't time to be playing around!"
I ignored him and continued to swim around with the dolphins. I held onto Blue's dorsal fin as she swam down towards the bottom where the viewing glass is. I waved hello to the visitors who were smiling widely and snapping photos.
I giggled and resurfaced, swimming up to the platform, laying on my belly and squeeked. "I'm a dolphin! Feed me fish!"
"You're not a dolphin weirdo. You're an alien, now get out of there."
I groaned in annoyance and got out. We practiced a few tricks for the show and fed the dolphins their fish. I sat at the water's edge and kicked water at Blue while she blew water at me through her blowhole.
"You're such a kid." Baekhyung giggled and sat beside me.
"You say it like it's a bad thing." I smirked.
"I heard what happened with the new kid."
"Oh, shark bait?" I giggled. "He's not going to last long at school. I'll make sure of it."
"Why do you have to be so mean to every new kid that comes along?"
"Because it's my job!" I growled. "Don't you remember the other one? He thought he was so much better than us. He even had the guts to punch Hoseok and challenge me. It's a good thing I beat him to a pulp."
Baekhyung sighed and rested a hand on my shoulder. "I remember, but what about the last one? He was nice."
"Nice as in a loser, dorky nerd who told on me whenever I did something wrong. Heck! He couldn't stop talking about shit I didn't care about. Even Jin was annoyed by him. The only thing he was ever good for was doing my homework." I groaned.
"Hey Taehyung!" Hoseok called from around the tank. "Are we still getting revenge on Jungkook? I found a bucket of fish we can dump on him."
I smiled widely and hugged my best friend. "This is why I love you Hobie! You're the only one who understands me."
"Ya! Get off me! Why are you soaking wet? Did jump into the dolphin tank again?" He laughed and handed me the towel that was hanging over his shoulder.
"Yup. So, when can we get started?"
"No! There will be none of that!" Baekhyung scolded and stole the bucket. "If I find out you harmed the new kid in any way, I'm telling dad."
"How old are you, five?" I growled.
"No, but you are." A voice answered.
Our attention diverted to Jin. He stepped up from the last step with shark bait trailing behind. "You better not hurt Jungkook. I'm responsible of him today."
Responsible, responsible, responsible. That's all I ever hear come out of Jin's mouth today. "It's not my fault you're babysitting."
"Watch it V." Jin crossed his arms. "Let's not forget that I'm your hyung."
I rolled my eyes and returned to my dolphin training. I sent Blue to do a flip in the air and she landed with a huge splash. I heard clapping from behind and turned to see Jungkook staring in awe.
"That was so cool!" He smiled. "What's his name?"
"It's a girl." I glared.
"Fine. What's her name then," he said with his hands on his hips.
"Blue." A sudden idea sparked in my head. "Hey! Wanna see something cool?"
He nodded eagerly and I waved him towards me. Jin tried to hold him back but that excited kid pushed his hand away and ran beside me. "Watch this."
Once Blue returned to the platform, I made a puffer fish face. Jungkook looked at me confused, but his confusion suddenly turned into shock once he was squirted with water. It was a new trick I taught Blue; swallow water and squirt it back out of her mouth.
I laughed loudly and fell onto my back while holding my stomach. To my surprise, I heard Jungkook laughing too. It was a cute laugh, wait! I'm doing that again. Thinking that this new kid is cute.
Ugh, how annoying.
He repeated my pufferfish action and Blue squirted the water at me. Now it was Baekhyun's turn to laugh.
"Well look at that." Jin smirked. "Blue is taking orders from someone other than Taehyung. That's a first."
I scoffed and stood up. "What are you talking about? That was nothing."
Before Jin could say anything, Jimin appeared. "So here's where everyone was hiding. It's like a party up here." He giggled.
"Sorry Jimin. You're not invited. It's only for people with jams." I teased.
"If it's for people with jams then why is Hoseok hyung up here?"
"Yah! What is that suppose to mean?" Jhope exclaimed and grabbed Jimin by his collar.
"Wow, didn't know you were stupid too." Jimin laughed and braced himself for a punch.
"JIMIN!"
We looked back and saw a blonde haired male running towards us. "Shit, Yoongi found me." Jimin bit his lip and hid behind me.
"What happened to his hair?" Jin eyes widened. "Did you do that?"
"I thought it would be funny to put temporary hair dye in Yoongi's hair while he was sleeping, but I read the box and it said permanent." Jimin explained. "So I ran away."
"I'm going to kill you!" Yoongi shouted with his fists clenched.
"Hyung! I'm sorry. But you look good blonde." Jimin tried to kiss up.
"You know what you'd look good in? Two black eyes."
Jungkook squealed and ran beside Jin, grabbing his hand. Pft, whimp.
"Hey!"
Great, now who is it?
We turned to the stairway and saw Namjoon holding an object. "I think I broke something."
"Of course you did." Jin face palmed himself. "Yoongi, help him fix it before Mr. Kim finds out."
Yoongi nodded, but noticed Jungkook hiding behind the elder. "Who's that?"
"Shark bait." I cut in.
"Shark bait HO HA HA!" Jimin and Hoseok yelled in unison and laughed. I giggled along until I felt a strong force push me almost causing to fall down. Almost.
"Stop calling me that! I basically saved your friends' asses earlier and all you've ever done is yell at me and call me names!" Jungkook yelled. "I have no clue who you are, but you're a- you're a- JERK!"
I smirked. "Nice insult. I'm going to pretend that affected me deeply, but have you forgotten who saved your ass earlier?"
"Do I look like I give a shit?" He glared. "I never asked you too."
"I like this kid." Yoongi smiled. "You're my new friend."
I lifted my hand to punch him, but my brother stopped me. "Before we all kill each other, why don't we get back to work?"
Jin grabbed Jungkook by his wrist and pulled him away. Thank god, I can't stand to look at him. Namjoon and Yoongi followed them out to fix whatever it was that he broke.
Jimin and Hoseok were still giggling on the side repeating, "SHARK BAIT HO HA HA!"
"Hoseok, doesn't your sea lion show start in 10 minutes?" Baekhyun questioned.
"Oops! I forgot! Jiminie, come with me!"
"Aish, idiots." I mumbled.
"Taehyung, we need to get ready for our show in an hour. Go dry yourself." Baekhyun advised and I went to get dressed.
----------------------------------------------------------
Jungkook's POV
Jin hyung took me to get cotton candy from one of the snack carts. I thanked him and went to watch the sea lion show.
"There's Jimin!" I exclaimed. "And Hoseok! Do you all work here?"
"Yup. Who knows? Maybe you might work here too."
I lowered my head to hide my wide smile. "Thank you hyung for being so nice to me."
He smiled down at me. "No problem."
The sea lion show was hilarious. The sea lions came out in Aloha shirts and jumped onto the surfboards, then pretended to act like surfers.
"Hey Coco!" Hoseok said to the sea lion. "Where are the waves?"
The sea lion named Coco put her flipper to her head and searched for waves.
"Do you see any?" Coco nodded and clapped her flippers together. "Then catch it!"
Hoseok pushed the surfboard on the water and the sea lion did a handstand on the board while waving her tail at us.
It was the cutest show I've ever seen. It was really funny, especially the part where Jimin slipped and fell into the water and the animal made noises as if it were laughing. Also, Hoseok had the sea lion blow kisses to the audience and splash us. After a couple of tricks, they wanted to get the audience involved.
"Can we get a volunteer?" Jimin asked.
"We have one here!" Jin stood up and raised my hand in the air.
"Yah! Hyung!" I scolded.
"You there! Come on down." Jimin smiled.
I hesitated at first but eventually went up. "Don't worry Jungkookie. This will be fun." Jimin whispered.
"Hey Coco, what do you think of this young man?" Jimin questioned.
The sea lion hid her face with her flipper. "Aw, she's shy." Hoseok chuckled and the audience "awed".
"Coco, do you like him?" Jimin smiled. The sea lion nodded and hid behind Hoseok, poking her head out every once in a while. I laughed at its cute actions.
"I think Coco wants to give him a kiss. What do you think?" Hoseok questioned.
"Kiss him! Kiss him!" Jin had the audience cheer. I smiled shyly as Jimin had me sit on my knees.
The sea lion came out from behind Hoseok and came beside me. Before it could, Jimin stopped it. "Wait, wait, wait. You can't kiss him on the lips. Only cheek."
"Wae?" Hoseok asked.
"Because Jungkook belongs to me." Jimin announced and the audience cheered. "And I'm a jealous boyfriend."
My eyes widened. "W-what?"
As I was caught off guard, Coco kissed my cheek and everyone clapped happily. "Thank you for being an awesome volunteer. You may return to your seat, babe." Jimin smirked.
I instantly ran away and returned to my seat beside Jin who was most likely laughing at my red face. When the show ended, Jin and I went to get something to drink.
"What was that about?" I mumbled.
"What? Jimin calling you his boyfriend?" Jin nudged. I nodded slowly, unsure of what to say. After a moment of silence, Jin laughed and hit my shoulder. "Dude, it's okay. It's part of the show."
"Really?" I asked dumfounded.
"Yeah, he does it every show. Don't worry."
I sighed in relief as we continued to walk around.
"Hey, want to go on the Atlantis ride?"
I nodded excitedly and he dragged me towards the ride. There was a long line and he told me he could get us to the front since he works there, but I declined. I saw a lot of people my age here and I don't want to enter school with a bad reputation.
While we waited in line, I decided to talk to Jin about something that had been bugging me. "Hyung?"
"Yeah?"
"Why did you suddenly let me join your group of friends when you just met me today?" I asked.
He thought for a moment before shrugging. "I really don't know." He chuckled before continuing. "Actually, this is really rare. I'm don't let anyone into our group, but with you... I feel like I have to take care of you."
"Earlier, you mentioned something about Taehyung's dolphin taking orders."
"Hm? Oh that's right." Jin giggled. "Taehyung's dolphin never takes orders from someone other than Taehyung himself or when he's doing a show. I guess the dolphin see's something special in you too."
"Why?"
Jin furrowed his brows and put me into a chokehold. "You ask to many questions."
"Hyung! Let me go!" I laughed and popped my head out from his grip. He laughed as I fixed my hair.
"So, what do you think of Taehyung?"
I paused. "What about him?"
"It's entertaining." He shrugged. "Watching you two bicker. It's like watching a married couple."
"Married couple? Please." I scoffed. "I'd never want to be with someone like him. What's his deal anyways?"
"His dad owns this place. Sea World Seoul is the hugest attraction so it automatically makes Taehyung the popular guy at school."
"And you?" I looked over.
"More questions? You talk too much, like Taehyung."
"Don't compare me to him." I groaned.
After moments of silence, Jin sighed. "This line is taking too long. We're going to miss the dolphin show." He tugged on my arm. "Let's go. We're cutting to the front."
We ran around the ropes and to the front. Jin greeted the worker guy and he put is in the front of the coaster.
"See? That wasn't so bad." Jin smiled.
"That's cheating. Those people could have been waiting for hours and we made them wait longer." I frowned.
"Did you want to wait for hours?"
I shook my head in disapproval. After the ride, we ran towards the dolphin show arena. "Jungkookie!"
I looked towards the person who called my name. He patted a seat next to him. "There's Jimin." I pointed.
Jin and I walked over to Jimin and sat in the empty spaces. "You can sit next to me Jungkook. I don't bite."
I smiled shyly and sat beside him. We were later joined by Namjoon and the blonde haired male from earlier, Yoongi.
"Where's Hoseok?" Yoongi questioned.
"Here I am!!" Hoseok exclaimed as he came running towards us. "Sorry I'm late. Hi Jungkook."
I bowed politely and Yoongi turned around to face me. "I remember you."
I flinched. "A-ah y-yeah. Nice to meet you."
"Don't be nervous." Jimin nudged. "He's only scary if you do something bad to him." He whispered.
"I can hear you." Yoongi growled.
"Ignore him." Jimin smiled. "So what did you think of the sea lion show, boyfriend."
"Aish! Don't call me that." I pushed him playfully. "That wasn't funny. If Jin hadn't explained, I would be ignoring you right now."
"Sorry, you're just so cute to me."
I looked at him questionably. Is he always like this?
"Guys! Shhhh!" Namjoon shushed. "It's starting."
I watched as three dolphins shot out of the water and did flips. I smiled widely, unknowingly clapping my hands due to the excitement.
When the fourth dolphin came out, there was someone riding it. The girls beside me started screaming like insane fangirls.
"There's V!" One screamed.
"Ommo! He's so handsome!" The second girl screamed.
"Kyah! I wish he would notice me!" The third one shouted. "V oppa! I love you!"
"Oh, look." Hoseok groaned. "More fangirls."
I furrowed my brows. "Who's V?" I whispered to Jimin.
"You'll see." He winked at me.
Just then, the said male shot out of the water and did a 360 flip in the air. The crowd went crazy and I stared in amazement, until I realized who it was. "Taehyung."
"I need everyone's participation!" He yelled through his microphone once he climbed onto the island on the side of the dolphin arena. "Everyone clap your hands with me. Clap. Clap. Clap."
The crowd followed his instructions including our friends. I reluctantly joined everyone, although I didn't want to listen to a word he says. As we clapped, Taehyung through lei's into the water. The dolphins swooped under and into the lei's, wearing it around themselves.
Our claps became faster and the dolphins spun around with their tails in the water and their bodies above water, as if they were dancing the hula. Taehyung wore a lei himself and danced too. I grinned as I watched him.
He's not so bad when he's not being a jerk. He actually has an interesting smile and that orange hair of his makes him more attractive.
Wait; am I really checking him out right now? No way...
Before I knew it, the dolphin show ended. I was taken aback. Did I really just spend the entire show staring at him? I missed the whole thing!
"Jungkook, let's go." Jin called.
"Where are we going?" I asked as I walked down the bleachers.
"We're meeting Taehyung for lunch."
Ugh. This day keeps getting worse...
I followed the group as we walked to Expedition Café. As they were staring at the menu, I went to find a table for us in the corner of the café where it was private and far from people. I sat there silently and waited for them to return.
"Hey there." I looked up and saw a man in his thirties approach me. "Are you here alone?"
I looked down in effort to ignore the guy, but it didn't work. He stood beside me and combed his fingers through my hair. Shivers ran down my spine and I bit my lip, trying my best not to cry. "Don't cry baby. Daddy will take care of you."
"P-please. Leave me alone."
"What's that?" The man bent down to face me and smirked. "I don't think I heard you properly. Did you say, more?"
The man reached his hand over to lift my chin when suddenly someone grabbed his wrist and shoved it away. I lifted my head and my eyes widened when I saw who it was.
"He said leave him alone."
The man clicked his tongue in annoyance. "And who the hell are you to tell me what to do? Don't you know how to treat those older than you with respect? Brat."
Taehyung scoffed. "Brat? Don't you know that it's a felony to harass those who are under aged? Pedophile."
The man growled and threw a punch, but luckily Taehyung dogged it. When the man attempted to throw another punch, Taehyung caught it. He twisted the man's arm and kicked his back, sending the man flying down to the ground. Taehyung ran up and lifted his fist to punch the guy, when the man unexpectedly kicked him in the stomach. I stood up worried and stepped forward to help Taehyung.
"Don't." Taehyung stopped me.
"But Tae-"
"Stay there, Jungkook." Taehyung warned. He then flipped the man over and stood over him, punching him several times. When he was finished, the man scrambled to get away.
Taehyung smirked as he watched his victim run away in terror. He then turned to face me. "Why are you alone?"
"I-I went to get a table."
"And the others?"
"T-they're ordering their f-food." Why am I stuttering so much today?
"You're not eating?" He questioned.
"I didn't bring any money." I mumbled, while fidgeting with my fingers.
"Come with me," he sighed and pulled me with him to the counter. "Do you eat orange chicken?"
I nodded my head as he ordered two orange chicken plates. I picked my side orders and waited on the side as for our food to be ready. Taehyung paid for the food then stood on the side silently next to each other.
"Thank you." I broke the silence. "For helping me."
"I wasn't helping you." He deadpanned. "People like that just irritate me and need to be taught a lesson."
"Either way," I continued. "If it weren't for you, I don't know what would have happened. So, thank you."
He looked down at me, but I ignored his gaze. From my peripheral vision, I could see a smile tug on his lips but he quickly tried to hide it. "You're welcome, I guess." He shrugged.
I played with my receipt in my hand. "I'm sorry."
"For what?"
"Calling you a jerk earlier."
I heard him chuckle and I looked at him confused. "Why are you laughing?"
"Nothing." He waved his hand.
"Yah! Tell me!" I pouted.
"Order 206!" The lady called out.
Taehyung smiled at me and pushed me forward. "That's you."
I frowned but went up to the counter to grab my food. "Jungkook!"
I turned my head and saw Jin running to me. "Thank God! I thought I lost you. You bought food?"
"Actually Taehyung paid for me." I admitted.
Jin looked at Taehyung confused. "You? Why?"
"I have a heart too, hyung!" Taehyung groaned. "And how could you leave shark bait by himself? He was almost raped by a creepy old man! I had to save him/"
"What?! Is that true Jungkook?"
"I don't want to talk about it." I muttered.
"Okay, well we have a table. Why don't you go and sit with the others? I'll wait with Taehyung."
"Arreseo." I bowed and left to sit with Jimin on the table. While I ate my food, all I could think about was Taehyung. Maybe he's not as bad as I thought.
Maybe I judged him too soon. Maybe there's a side to him I don't know about. One thing is for sure; I'm going to break that hard shell of his.
---------------------------------------------
Taehyung's Pov
I watched as Jungkook walked away to sit beside Jimin. Jin continued to stare at me with a questionable expression on his face.
"Stop staring at me!" I yelled, but only loud of enough for him to hear.
"Why'd you do it?" He grinned.
"Do what?"
"Don't play stupid." Jin poked my cheek. "He's starting to warm up to you, isn't he?"
"Order 207!"
"Oh look at that. My food is ready. Guess we have to continue this later." I giggled and grabbed my food.
"Whatever you say," Jin teased. "You're starting to like him."
"Hah! You wish." I rolled my eyes.
"That's good. Now Jimin doesn't have to worry about anyone taking his boyfriend away from him."
"Boyfriend?!" I exclaimed. "Jimin and Jungkook are dating already?"
"Caught you!" Jin clapped. "I knew you liked him."
"Hyung, I don't like Jungkook."
"If you insist..." He giggled.
Aigoo... What to do with this hyung... But now that I think about it...
Am I really starting to fall for shark bait? It can't be...
