Chapter 23
Jung kook is not stupid.
He knows there's something being kept from him.
He just does not understand.
Of course, it took some time for the young boy to piece the puzzles together. But he still feels like he's missing a few key pieces that would complete the puzzle and everyone around him are keeping the pieces away from him.
It started when he moved to Seoul with his family, but his belongings were already scattered around his room. His parent's explained to him that he had lost him memory but days before the accident, they had already put things away.
But there were a few things in his room that he was almost sure didn't belong to him -- nor did it come from Busan. The inflatable shark floaty was the first thing that caught his eye. Before he could take a closer look, his parents were quick to remove the item, claiming that it was left by their neighbor who helped them with the moving.
Jungkook was quick to shrug it off and was soon called downstairs to meet his new neighbor. He slowly approached his parents who seemed to be whispering something to the other boy. When his parents stepped back, he was met with a teary eyed male who smiled sadly at him.
"Jungkook," the male addressed in an soft tone. "It's nice to meet you."
"Nice to meet you too." Jungkook replied with a small smile. "Is everything okay? I hope this isn't a bad time."
"Huh?" The older male questioned, but later realized the dampness on his cheeks and quickly brushed away his tears. "Oh, yeah. Sorry. Just... lost something special to me."
"Oh, I'm sorry to hear that." Jungkook frowned. "I hope you're able to find it soon."
"Yeah," his neighbor chuckled, but it still sounded a little sad. "Me too."
"I'm Jin by the way," the older male introduced. "I'm a few years older than you, so you can just address me as hyung."
"Okay," Jungkook gleamed. "Hyung."
It was only after spending the day with Taehyung that he felt a rush of sadness overwhelm him. This isn't him. He's not the same. Jungkook felt like a flash drive that had been formatted and everything has been wiped clean.
But one thing remains the same... Jungkook's determination to find the pieces and put it back together.
And something inside him tells him that Taehyung is important.
He can't let go of Taehyung.
It was Saturday that Jungkook and Taehyung decided to meet up at Lotte World. Jungkook was confused as to how he had all the boys contact information on his phone list, but figured it must have been some time when he left his belongings on the table while having lunch with the gang and went to the restroom.
Jungkook arrived to the amusement park early, hoping to calm down his nerves before the older male arrives. He found an area near the ticket booth and decided to distract himself with his phone while he waited.
"Well, if it isn't lover boy."
Jungkook looked up to see a black haired male approach him with a glint of irritation in his eye. "What? Don't have your popular boyfriend to defend you?"
"Do I know you?"
The male scoffed. "Nice try."
Jungkook frowned and went to speak but before he could, a voice interrupted.
"Jackson!"
It was Taehyung. The younger male smiled a little, seeing the intruder back away in defense. "I was just saying hi to Jungkook here. Don't get your panties in a twist."
"It's not mine that will be twisted," Taehyung sneered. "If you don't leave him alone, we're going to have trouble."
"So he still needs him boyfriend to protect him." Jackson scoffed, looking over to the younger male who watched with hesitation. "Fine. I'm leaving"
Taehyung glared down the male until the other was out of sight. He then gave his attention to Jungkook who seemed cautious of the situation. "Hyung, who is he and what is talking about? And why does he keep calling you my boyfriend?"
"It's nothing Jungkookie."
"He knew my name though. I don't ever recall meeting him."
"He knows everyone." Taehyung lied. "He's a trouble maker and wants nothing more but to flirt and hurt people. Let's just forget about it, yeah? I don't want our date to start on a bad note."
Jungkook didn't want to forget about it. He wanted to interrogate. He wants answers. He wants to figure out what's going on. He wants ----
"I got you cotton candy." Taehyung smiled brightly, holding a bag up. "Something told me you might like this."
--- cotton candy.
"Yeah, let's forget about it." Jungkook agreed as he snatched the bag. "Only if you let me have all of this."
"Sure, whatever you want Jungkookie."
Jungkook thinks he can wait. Because right now, his heart tells him Taehyung is a piece.
"Now, I think we have an amusement park date to enjoy." Taehyung reached out his hand and Jungkook interlocks his fingers in the other. "Ready?"
