Chapter 22
a/n: I made a few changes to the story but it doesn't affect it greatly. The changes include that Jungkook now has blonde hair and he was away for three months in Busan.

"You want us to do what?" Hoseok and Jimin questioned in unison.
"Look, it's simple. All you have to do is climb into the polar bear exhibit, let it loose, and then get chased again," Taehyung explained proudly. "Before you know it, Jungkook will remember me and everything will be back to normal."
"I think the fuck not," Hoseok argued. "You're missing a very important part."
"Which is?"
"We almost fucking died last time!" Jimin yelled. "And if I can remember correctly, you weren't Jungkook's favorite person that day."
"Didn't he have an asthma attack?" Yoongi questioned.
"Okay, it doesn't have to be perfect. We can change some things around," Taehyung shrugged his shoulders. "He doesn't need to remember all of it. Just some parts."
"Well if we're changing things around, why don't we change the part with the fucking polar bear eating us for dinner," Hoseok groaned.
"No! The polar bear is the most important part!" Taehyung frowned.
"You losers better figure this shit out because Jin is on his way with Jungkook right now," Namjoon intervened, showing the boys the location of the two using snapchat.
"That's why I'm on ghost mode," Yoongi muttered. "That's creepy as fuck. You're clingy ass always gotta know where your boyfriend is."
"You know the only reason you keep your snapchat on ghost mode is so people don't judge you for never leaving your house." Jimin cackled.
"Anygays, why did you have to tell us this plan last minute?" Hoseok groaned, snatching the keys from Taehyung.
"Because I knew if it was last minute then you guys couldn't back out," the other gleamed. Jimin groaned and grabbed Hoseok by the hand, pulling him along towards the polar exhibit. "You owe us one, bitch."
"Love you too bitch!"
"Why does this place feel so familiar?" Jungkook mumbled to himself, watching the scenery around him from the passenger seat of Jin's vehicle.
"Are you remembering?" Jin gasped excitedly, almost startling Jungkook. He coughed to excuse himself from being over-excited. "Sorry, I just thought.. never mind."
"Though what?"
"Jungkook, your parents told me that you've been in an accident—"
"You seem awfully close to my parents for someone who just met them yesterday," the younger male interrupted, feeling suspicious.
"I helped your parents unpack your things while you were in the hospital. That's when they told me about your accident and asked me to keep an eye out for you," Jin quickly lied. He remembered having this conversation with Jungkook's parents. They had to get their stories straight if Jungkook had questioned anything.
"Oh," Jungkook responded apologetically like. "Sorry. I probably sound like an asshole."
"No you don't. You're just trying to figure everything out."
"You have no idea," the younger sighed. "It's like I'm forgetting something important and it's driving me crazy. Like when you know you've seen something or been somewhere before, but you don't remember when, where, or how."
Jin listened silently as he continued to drive towards their destination. "Well, first off. I'm Jin and I'm 20 years old. You?"
"Well, I'm Jungkook obviously. And I'm 18."
"Then I'm your hyung," The older smiled. "Don't feel too shy Jungkook. I'm not mean. We're friends!"
The younger giggled but his head started to spin a little, almost feeling like deja vu. Why did this feel familiar to him?
It wasn't long before a chime rang from Jin's phone and he asked Jungkook to check the message for him. "Is it okay for me to be reading it?"
"They're your friends too Kook."
"They are?"
Jin caught himself slipping and shrugged his shoulders. "Well they will be. My friends are your friends and trust me. They'll love you." He defended.
"Any advice for me? You know, to make sure they—"
"Like you?" His hyung smiled, recalling their conversation from when they first met and were racing to meet the others in his vehicle. "You're cute enough as is. But we really like to pull pranks on each other. Remember that okay?"
Jungkook furrowed his eyebrows slightly as he nodded. He pursed his lips together, trying to make sense of what was going on in his head. Jungkook looked over to Jin, contemplating. "Hyung? This may be weird, but have we ever m—"
The phone chimed again in Jungkook's hand and Jin urged him to check the messages, succeeding in changing the topic. The younger male looked down at the device, scrolling through them as they spammed the elder's phone.
"Tell them we're five minutes away."
"Are you not worried? It sounds like they're in a lot of trouble." Jungkook re-read the messages.
"Trust me. This happened before."
Jungkook and Jin sprinted towards the Wild Arctic Exhibit, entering the interactive arctic cave, decorated with ice sculptures and icebergs to give guests an experience as if they were in Antartica. They found three of the boys hiding behind a fake iceberg near the entrance.
"Hoseok!"
"Bitch!" The said male yelped as he latched onto the older male, covering his mouth and dragging him behind the iceberg. "Did you forget or do I have to remind you that there's a polar bear on the loose."
"How could you all fuck up a second time?" Jin spat as he swatted the hand away. "Didn't you learn anything the first time?"
"My lesson the first time was to never do this again," Jimin crossed his arms. "It was you and Taehyung who obviously didn't learn. Maybe next time you two should be the ones inside the polar bear enclosure."
"You're all a bunch of crackheads." Yoongi laughed silently. "And speaking of crackheads, I think Jungkook just left us to go find the others."
"Perfect. It's all going to plan." Jin smiled as he looked over the iceberg, watching Jungkook run further into the cave.
Suddenly, they heard small whines coming from Hoseok and the group looked over to question why he was frozen in place. "What's up hope? You cold or something?"
"P-p-..."
"PPAP." Jimin teased with a giggle.
"P-polar b-bear." The scared male pointed his finger towards the entrance where they were hiding, seeing the polar bear slowly walking towards their direction, sniffing the air.
"That twink left us!" Yoongi gasped, starting to sprint away from the animal.
"Coming from a twink himself! Now you're leaving us!" Jimin cried as the boys followed behind.
Jungkook found the other exited at the opposite end of the cave, glancing around at every direction. He felt a little bad for leaving the others behind, but after seeing the bear he panicked and ran away.
He didn't know why, but he let his feet guide him near the penguins' exhibit, catching sight of a silver haired male trying to hide amongst them. "Hey, are you okay?"
The other lifted his head up and widened his eyes. "Jungkook! You're here!" He cheered, springing to his feet and trying to climb over the small fenced area.
"You know me?"
"What?" The older looked at him weird but then clicked. "Oooh. Yeah, sorry. Jin told me that he was bringing you. Heh. Guess I was a little excited it was you and not a polar bear." He laughed awkwardly.
"I'm Namjoon by the way," he smiled as he reached out his hand. "Jin's boyfriend."
"I'm—"
"Jungkook!!!!" Jin shouted as the group ran out of the cave. "You left us with the polar bear!"
"I'm sorry! I panicked." The younger frowned. "Is it still in there?"
"Yes, but I'm glad you're safe." Jin sighed as he gave Jungkook a hug.
"I think I know how to put it back. I use to work at Sea World in San Diego. I can get it to calm down and guide it back."
"Here," Hoseok tossed the keys to the younger. "As long as it's back inside the enclosure, I'm happy."
Jungkook nodded and took off back into the cave. Namjoon did a quick head count before tilting his head in confusion. "There should be seven of us. One is missing."
"You counted wrong. Jungkook just left."
"No, I already counted him." He overlooked all of them again before realizing. "Where's Taehyung?"
"Wasn't he with you?"
"I thought he was with you?"
"You were supposed to be with him!"
"I hate you all."
"You assholes! Why are you putting it back in here when I literally just told you I'm stuck?" Taehyung growled as he lifted his head up from ice platform. His heart stopped a little when he saw another male staring back at him from the gate.
"Jungkook?"
"Taehyung?"
He watched as the polar bear made it's way back inside and Taehyung froze in place, trying his best not to move. "Are you just going to lay there or are you going to come out?"
"You want me to move when there's an animal right in front of me that can kill me within a second?"
"You don't know?" Jungkook raised a brow. "She has no teeth."
"And? You don't think she can't crush me with her weight?"
Jungkook smiled a little at that. "I don't know who takes care of her here, but she seems to listen very well. The tag in her fur indicates that she was raised in captivity her whole life and can't survive out in the wild without her teeth to defend herself. And I assume she's use to being hand fed."
Taehyung was a little shocked at how well educated the younger male was on the animal.
"I think you all scared her after climbing into the enclosure and throwing a rock at her only made it worse." Jungkook continued. "I can understand why she got aggressive."
"That was my fault." Taehyung frowned. "I shouldn't have done that."
"I see," Jungkook pursed his lips, watching Taehyung guilty expression. "It's okay now. We learn from our mistakes. Whoever takes care of this polar bear does an amazing job."
"My brother actually," the older admitted. "He and a few of his friends work here and are in charge of the arctic exhibit."
"Well," Jungkook grinned at the way Taehyung laid helplessly on the ice. "Are you going to come out of there or are you going to wait until the polar bear gets mad again?"
Taehyung bit his bottom lip as he tried to get to his feet, only falling back down due to the pain he was putting on his ankle.
Jungkook looked at the swelling, realizing how bad the injury must be. "Let me help."
"No, I can do it."
"You're only going to make it worse. Let me help."
"I said no, shark bait!" Taehyung found himself shouting.
Jungkook immediately stopped, his head pulsing unexpectedly. Taehyung gritted his teeth together, making another attempt to stand to his feet.
"Why are you being so difficult?" Jungkook murmured after the painful shocks when away.
"Maybe because I don't want you getting hurt too."
"You're making no sense. I'm helping you whether you like it or not," Jungkook insisted as he marched his way over and scooped the elder into his arm.
"Jungkook, put me down!" Taehyung squirmed.
"No."
"Let me go! I can take care of myself!"
"Coming from the guy who was just trapped and has a sprained ankle."
"Fine." Taehyung stopped. "But you're still not off the hook after putting that polar bear back into the exhibit while I was still in there."
Jungkook rolled his eyes as he closed the enclosure door, locking it behind them and still managing to carry Taehyung in his arms.
"When did you get so strong?"
"What?"
"I mean like, I've never expected to be carried by a cute guy with a bunny face but hidden muscles on his body." He teased and Jungkook smirked a little.
"Well I never expected to be carrying a cuter guy that I saved from a polar bear." Taehyung smiled at that. "I was in the hospital for a while so I went through a lot of physical therapy and just fell in love with working out I guess."
Jungkook carried Taehyung to the animal pharmacy with the older male's direction. The younger male paused as he entered the room, a headache pounding against his skull as he carefully put down the older male.
"Hey, are you okay?" Taehyung asked worriedly after seeing the pain expression on the younger's face.
"Yeah. I'm fine." He insisted. "I've been getting headaches a lot lately since I've arrived to Seoul."
"Maybe you should be the one resting."
"No, it's fine." Jungkook urged. "Let me at least wrap your ankle. Do you have a first aid kit anywhere?"
"Top shelf." Jungkook grabbed the kit as instructed and sat across from Taehyung, taking the elder's leg and placing it over his lap to get a better angle.
"Hey Jungkook." The said male hummed in response. "Are you doing anything today?"
Jungkook looked up at him in question. Taehyung had to refrain himself from leaning in and kissing his boyfriend's lips that he missed so dearly. Right now, the man in front of him has no idea who he is and that hurts. But he's willing to wait and put the puzzle back together if it means getting his Jungkook back.
"I'd like for us to spend the day together. Just us."
"Like a date?"
"Sure," Taehyung grinned. "Like a date."
"I'd like that."
