Chapter 9

Firey sat his cup down, smiling brightly. Leafy was asleep beside him, looking peaceful. He didn't know why sleep was so important, as he couldn't remember what it was like.

But he knew Leafy needed sleep, and so he could be patient. He stared at her slightly, watching as she shifted in her sleep. He felt a calm aura wash over him.

Firey sometimes wished he could see what she was dreaming about. When she started to stir awake, he turned his body to face her. "Morning!" He chirped, as she yawned.

Leafy smiled at him, sitting up. "Morning." She greeted back. "How long were you up?" She asked. "Not too long." Firey lied. He didn't want to concern her.

He stood up from bed, frowning slightly. "I have a few more things to do today, I'm sorry." Leafy smiled. "It's not a big deal, I understand."

She chuckled. "Besides, I can handle some alone time." Firey smiled. "Okay, we'll hang out later." He said, exiting the room. Leafy got out of bed, and headed to the parlor.

She walked towards the front door, excited to see Taco again. Exiting the mansion, she walked through the forest, and towards the field.

Four paced back and forth, a notepad in hand. "There has to be a way to get Leafy out of there without raising suspicion!" He muttered, tearing a piece of paper out.

He crumpled it up, tossing it over his shoulder. "But how?!" X sighed, and spoke up. "Four, maybe we should just take Taco's advice-"

He turned around to face him. "And cause more suspicion? If we make her a host, not only will she be exposed to possible bullying, but people will start looking into why!"

X frowned. "I can understand that there would be more suspicion," he started, "but are you saying we can't take on a bit of bullying?" Four crossed his arms.

"What are we supposed to do, be with her every second of the day?!" X gave him a light glare. "No, but even just making a rule could help..."

Four sighed. "The rules don't seem to stick with them unless it's a challenge." He told X. "Think about it, remember the 'no-killing' rule?"

X nodded. "Yeah...thank the stars we were able to find at least one recovery center left during our arrival..." Four stared at his hands.

"Healing wounds and injuries is all I can do in a limited time frame. They knew this, and yet one of them killed Bubble for a 'prank' and it took me a month to recover her!"

He stared at X. "What makes you think they'll even listen to us when we make 'no bullying' an actual rule?" X stood up. "We can at least try, Four!"

He sighed, grabbing his own forehead. "Awww...Is the happy couple fighting?" A familiar voice asked. Four froze, hand slowly returning to his side.

X frantically looked around, hiding behind Four. "Bless your nonexistent hearts." A white light started to erupt from Four's hand, as he looked around.

"How did you...?" The voice chuckled again. "I'm slowly gaining my powers back," They admit, voice echoing everywhere, "you didn't think you could trap me forever..."

Four was able to trace the voice, staring down at the cup on the table. He gasped, seeing the familiar figure reflected in the liquid. They smirked, crossing their arms.

"Did you...?" Four glared down at the figure. "Let Leafy go." He hissed. The figure rolled their eyes. "My best friend will stay by my side till the end of time."

Four angrily rose his fists. "Because you're controlling her!" The figure glared at him. "How dare you accuse me of such a thing!" They hissed back.

"Leafy is with me by her own choice! She came to me, and she's staying with me!" Four felt X poke his head out slightly. "I am her only friend, we don't need anyone else!"

Four scoffed. "Do you actually think that?" The figure uncrossed their arms. "...What are you saying?" They asked. Four smirked. "She might be your 'best friend'..."

Four held X's hand gently. "But you aren't her only friend..." The figure shook their head in confusion, processing Four's words. "...what?..."

Four gently picked up X, hugging him, then stared directly into the figure's eyes. The figure sighed, annoyed. "Stop hugging your boyfriend, and explain-"

The figure paused. Their eyes widened slightly as their face got paler. They shook their head. "No..." They clenched their head with both hands.

"She doesn't have anyone else but me! How could she...?" Four laughed. "You clearly don't keep a good eye on your friend." They glared at him.

"Shut up! She doesn't need anyone else!" They yelled, the liquid of the cup boiling. Four stared in surprise, and quickly turned away, protecting X as the liquid flew into the air.

Once it stopped, he turned back around. The figure was no longer reflecting in the liquid... X looked up at him, lightly glaring. "Great job..." He sighed in annoyance.

Four nervously looked away. "Okay...I'll admit it..."

"I might have made things worse..."

Firey stood up, his limp arms regaining strength. He tsked, gritting his teeth. He stormed to the kitchen, grabbing his favorite emerald green cups.

When reaching for the tea pot, a spoon fell on his head. "Bloody hell!" He hissed, throwing the spoon across the room. It clattered against the floor.

He sighed, pulling the tea pot down. "I didn't want to have to do this..." Firey carried the tea pot to the other counter. He grabbed a glowing green liquid, and a few berries.

"Leafy...I'm sorry..."
