Chapter 22

Leafy heard footsteps pace around beside her. She quietly sighed, attempting to move her arms. They were firmly locked in place by the ribbons.

"Firey..." She spoke, turning her head slightly. Not that she could see anything, he still had her blindfolded, for some odd reason. "I can't let you out yet."

He quickly said, walking over to her. "Not until the party is over." She sighed. "Please...just talk to them." He tsked, putting a hand on her shoulder.

"If it actually worked, I'd be happy to." He said. "But it doesn't." Leafy tried to scoot closer to him. "You don't know that!" She said, struggling slightly.

Firey sighed, and she heard him walk away. "They should be here soon...I'll take off your blindfold in a minute." Leafy tensed, nervously clenching her hands.

What was he planning?

X gave Four a questioning look, as he watched him sheath his sword. Four glanced back, as he slung it over his shoulder. "What?" He asked.

"You're going to use a sword on an almost indestructible being?" He asked, crossing his arms. "Did you forget our bodies are pretty durable?"

Four tsked slightly, looking away. "Of course not!" He said, gripping the handle tighter. "But his dolls aren't made of the same material."

X rose an eyebrow. "Couldn't you use a smaller blade then? Like a knife?" Four smiled. "I could use a bigger blade if I wanted to, like a scythe." He joked.

Then, he became serious again. "His dolls aren't doll sized. If I want a fighting chance, I need a sword." Walking over to him, X stared at him in concern.

"What if Leafy gets hurt?" He asked, as Four gave him a surprised look. "How would she get hurt?" X clasped his hands together. "Didn't you hear her?"

He sighed, dark circles of worry growing under his eyes. "She wanted to protect him. "He's scared," she says." X looked down. "Leafy said that with genuine concern."

Four pat his head gently. "She's still partially under his spell." He started. "But what does that have to do with my sword?" X quickly snapped his head up.

"What if she takes the hit?!"

Four's eyes widened, as his face paled slightly. He nervously looked away, dropping the sword to his side. "She can't if we get her out before then!"

X gently grabbed his arm. "B-But what if-" The door slammed open, catching their attention. It was Pin. She was panting heavily. She must have been in a rush to get there.

"The...The first team...found it..." She gasped, coughing slightly. Four rushed over to her. "Did they secure it?!" She nodded. "Yeah." Four looked back at X, reaching his hand out.

"Let's go! No time to hesitate!" X stared at him, before giving him a small nod. Grabbing his hand, the three of them rushed out of the house, and towards the forest.

Taco glanced around, confidently walking towards the large doors of the mansion. She glared at them, clenching her fists.

With no hesitation, she walked up the steps, pushing those doors open. She quietly looked around, hoping no one would see her. She wanted to sneak in, get Leafy, and get out.

As she wandered inside, Taco kept her guard up. There was no time to get caught. Tiptoeing into the entryway, the door suddenly slammed behind her, catching her off guard.

Taco jolted up, as the lights flickered. "One guest has arrived..." an unfamiliar, accented voice rang out. "Oh...it's the lover. How wonderful."

Glancing around, Taco tsked at the voice's venomous tone. "What did you do to her?!" The unfamiliar voice scoffed. "I should be asking you that."

A door violently shook, causing her to jump slightly. She backed away, raising her fists up. From a room on the side, the Firey plush emerged.

"Before you showed up, Leafy didn't need anyone but me!" He growled, using the same unfamiliar voice. Taco grit her teeth. "Did you just think you could lock her up forever?"

Firey walked closer, and Taco noticed something shiny in his hand. "Yes." He said coldly. "She doesn't need anyone but me." Taco cautiously backed away.

She wasn't sure, but he might have been holding a knife. "After she meet you, suddenly she was sneaking out, and going on dates!"

He gagged, raising his hand up. It confirmed her suspicions. Firey was holding a knife. "Love ruined my first friendship, I won't make the same mistake twice!"

Taco felt nervous, but didn't show it. "And you kissed her!" He hissed, running towards her. She dodged him as he stabbed the couch.

"I saw everything!" Taco gasped, dodging again as it started to make sense.

He was there when they confessed.

Hiding in the reflection of the water.

Firey screamed, lunging at her again. Taco narrowly escaped, as he stabbed the wall. He let out a cry of pain, coughing. Taco turned to look at the wall, as her face paled.

The wall was spewing out a black liquid.

Firey hissed in pain, as Taco quickly kicked him across the room. She grabbed the knife, pulling it out of the wall. Pointing it at him, Firey smirked.

Leafy was right. This Firey didn't have sharp teeth at all...He chuckled. "Go ahead, stab me." He taunted. Taco rose an eyebrow. He laughed.

"Kill me! Do it! And then watch as your precious girlfriend turns on you!" He said, making her eyes widen. Taco lowered the knife slightly.

Firey stood up, a smirk still on his face. "If you kill me now, Leafy will never talk to you again." He taunted. "She'll never forgive you. You know how much she cares about me."

He started to approach Taco, and she backed away. "She wanted you to reason with me. She wants us all to be friends." He laughed. "But you and I both know that's not going to work!"

Taco felt her back press up against the wall, as he cornered her. He grabbed the knife, smirking wider. Raising it, Taco quickly pushed him away.

"As if killing me is any better?!"

She hissed, as Firey fell backwards. His expression fell. The knife clattered to the floor. "I'm not just her friend." Taco started. "We are so much more than that."

Firey sat up, staring at the ground in horror. "If you kill me, she'll never forgive you." Taco said, crossing her arms. "She wanted us to get along...but I agree."

She looked down at him, frowning. "I could never be friends with such an obsessive, controlling creature like you." Firey looked up at her, tears in his eyes.

He glared at her, tsking. "You're right." He said, standing up. A green glowing aura encased his hands, causing Taco to gasp. "I can't kill you..."

Taco was lifted into the air, as she let out a yelp. Firey stared at her with blank, empty eyes.

"There is only room for two."
