Chapter 13
Taco sat on the couch, sipping the coffee Four gave her. X sat across from her, a serious look on his face. "You need to find Leafy." He said without hesitation.
Taco sat her cup down. "I know. I saw her just the other day." He sighed in frustration. "Then why didn't you bring her with you?!" He growled slightly.
"We were caught up in the moment! My head wasn't clear!" Taco glared back at him. Four came between them, calmly raising his hands.
"Both of you, please calm down." He said, sighing slightly. "We won't get anywhere like this." He looked at Taco. "Tell me about the mansion. Was there anything unusual about it?"
Taco nodded. "Every time I went to visit Leafy, the mansion always seemed like it had moved a few inches back." Four frowned, crossing his arms.
"So he actually is gaining his powers back..." X stood up. "Well, let's get going before it's too late!" Four stopped him. "Hold on! We need a plan..."
He thought for a moment. "I guess we could put the show on pause, until we bring her back...but how will we find the mansion?" He stood up, walking over to the bookshelf.
Picking up a familiar covered book, he quickly flipped through the pages. He smiled, pointing at the top of a page. "Ha! I knew it!" Four took the book back to his seat.
Flipping the book around, he showed the pages to Taco and X. "Find your lover..." X read, before frowning. "Four, the main ingredient is a true love's kiss."
Four sighed slightly. "Shoot...you might be right..." He turned the book back towards himself. "The spell can't activate unless you kiss your lover first..."
He then pulled X close to him, stealing a quick peck on the check, and read the words out loud. Then, a red string appeared, connecting to his and his lover's index fingers.
It glowed for a second, then disappeared on X's end. "You have to had kissed them at one point during a 24 hour time period." He explained.
Taco gasped. "Wait. I kissed her earlier this evening!" She exclaimed, grabbing the book. She chanted the spell, and a red string appeared around her finger.
Four gasped, smiling, then spun X around. "This is great news!" He looked at her, gently setting X down. "You have to tell us about it later."
He became serious again. "You have another 24 hours to find her and get back. If the mansion has moved any farther, this string can guide you there."
He sat back down, X doing the same. "We'll continue the show, so there is no suspicion." Four thought for a moment. "I'll just have to bend the challenge slightly to excuse 'missing' contestants."
Taco nodded, and ran out the door. She could only hope Leafy was safe...
"Come along now!" A familiar object beckoned Leafy, giggling. Leafy followed, confused. Her dress swayed slightly in the wind.
"He's waiting for you!" Another object said, pushing her forward. She gasped slightly, turning to find a discolored Blocky. He smiled in a friendly way...but it was unsettling.
"He's your best friend!" He said cheerfully, pushing her down the long corridor. "Blocky...?" She questioned, as he looked at her in surprise.
"Oh! What should I say back?" He asked himself out loud. He smiled again. "Oh, I can't say anything! I'd hate to get in the way of their friendship!"
He cheerfully continued to push her down the corridor. Leafy nearly tripped a few times, but eventually found herself in a garden. She saw Firey standing in the center.
Turning around to face her, he smiled. "Hello again, friend!" He walked closer to her, and grabbed her hands. "Ready for another tea party?"
Leafy stared at him in concern. "Where are we?" She asked him. "Home." He replied. Smiling, he pulled her to the head of the table. "The tea today has a great flavor!"
Firey pushed her down into the chair, handing her a cup. "I invited a few guests, I hope you don't mind!" He said, before sitting beside her.
More discolored objects stepped into the room, smiling the same unsettling grin. They sat down at the table, all at the same time, in the same robotic manner.
It would have been impressive, if it didn't shake Leafy to her core. They all turned to look at her, slowly. Leafy flinched slightly, as they lifted their tea cups.
She tried to scoot out of her seat, only for someone to grab her waist. Whipping her head to the side, she came face to face to Firey, who seemed...odd...
"Aw, not even going to stay for a drink?" He stared down at her, frowning slightly. "At least have a sip..." He held the cup up, the tea was boiling.
Leafy felt her back press against the chair, and she tried to push him away. Firey wouldn't budge, pushing the cup closer to her face.
As it got closer, she struggled against him, before she was able to break lose. Leafy threw her arm up, letting out a cry of fear.
CRASH!
Her face paled, as she heard glass shatter against the floor. Slowly, Leafy looked up. Everyone was staring at the ground, frowning.
The teacup was broken.
Firey turned his head towards her, sighing.
"You shouldn't have done that...friend..."
Without warning, ribbons descended from the ceiling, aiming for her arms. Leafy quickly dodged, slipping out of her chair. She stood up, and ran out of the room.
The ribbons followed, flowing through the air like a den of snakes. They curled, and twisted into threatening shapes, inching closer to her body.
Leafy quickly turned a corner, diving into a nearby room, and slamming the door shut. She locked it, sobbing. Her back slid down the door, and she hugged her knees.
Everything was quiet for a moment. The only sound that could be heard was her own shaky sobs. However, that all changed when she heard footsteps approaching her.
"My poor...poor friend." An unfamiliar voice said. Leafy gasped, as she was suddenly blinded. "This is all a misunderstanding. I only want what's best for you..."
She jumped slightly, when she felt a soft hand land on her shoulder. "This isn't who I am, Firey is not a threat to your wellbeing." Leafy felt her body being lifted up.
"Let's try this again, from the top now." The voice said. Leafy heard a snapping sound, then felt a sharp pain pierce her skull. She gasped, as everything became bright.
