Cassie's POV

I wake up in a hospital bed. 

I adjust to the light, trying to recall when I actually blacked out. 

Hmmm. 

I don't even remember.

I look accross the room and see a nurse at my leg, putting on what I assume is a cast.

"Hey Sweetie! We put you to sleep a little while ago so we could just do some tests- I'm just putting on a cast" the nurse said, joyfully.

"Okay. Thank you very much. How are the other two victims of the crash?" I ask. I am really worried for Ethan and Grayson- if they're not okay, I don't know what I'll do.

"Ummm.... we've actually managed to wake them up- but they're still in really bad conditions. Ethan keeps blacking out. Gray is doing a bit better. Apparently they both need organ transplants or something, I don't know. I overhead some stuff whilst I was walking here." She says.

I don't respond. My mouth won't open. I can't help but think this is all my fault.

The nurse eventually leaves, and I am left all by myself in the room. 

I stare into nothingness. This was all my fault. I shouldn't have driven off. 

Oh my gosh. All of the other fans are going to hate me. Oh my gosh.

My thoughts are soon interrupted by a beep coming from the speaker beside me. 

*Cassie, your mother is here to see you. She's on her way in.* the monotone woman says.

Her voice was so funny, it sounded like a robo- WAIT A SECOND.

MY MUM? IS HERE? TO SEE ME?

WHAT?

I thought she didn't give a sh^t about me. 

Wow. Maybe she actually does.

I guess that proves that Mothers really know when you need them the most.

I sit in my bed, staring at the door in anticipation. 

Eventually, it opens, and I am greeted with a very puffy eyed Mum.

"CASSIE! OH MY GOSH ARE YOU OKAY IM SO SORRY IM NOT A GOOD MUM YOU DESER-" she began

"Mum- it's okay. Really. It means the world that you are even here. I thought you didn't care about me." I interrupted.

She wiped a tear from her eye- and sat down on the bed with me, looking into my eyes.

"Cassie. I want you to know that I am so sorry. It's times like this I regret everything. I want to prove to you that I am a good mother. I won't stop at anything to show you that I am here for you." she says. I saw the shine in her eye- and I knew that she meant it. 

We kisses my forehead and I fill her in on everything. I was so happy to learn that she had reported Dad the police on the way here. She listened to everything I had to say. She said that she couldn't wait to meet Ethan and Grayson, until I told her that they were the two other victims of the car crash. I explained all of the drama that happened before I drove off. 

I managed to stay strong the whole time whilst explaining everything to her- until she asked me if she could listen to the voicemails.

I played the voicemail out loud and everything just rushed back. Ethan's voice was so perfect. It flowed as smooth as silk. As I was listening to it, I was just imagining his hard as diamonds jawline, the way his dimples formed softly as he smiled, the way his eye crinkled up when he laughed, and his hands, when he was holding mine and I thought everything would be perfect. But it was too good to be true. Now my boyfriend, and his brother, are probably going to die. Because of me. 

Just when Grayson's voicemail finished, a doctor walked in.

"Cassie- we would like to inform you of the states that Ethan and Grayson Dolan are in" He said, glumly. This can't be good news. I sat up straight in my bed, and my mum held my hand.

"Ethan is in a worse state than Grayson is. However, they both could be discharged tomorrow if we get two organ donors." he said, before pausing. 

"What organs do they need?" I ask. 

"Bizzarely, they both suffered the same injuries- they both need one new kidney each. I guess twins do feel eachother's pain." He responds, making me remember the Twin Myths video they recorded. I feel tears coming down my face.

"I'll donate a kidney." I say, whilst my mum looks at me in shock.

"Cassie! I know they mean a lot to you- but I don't think you're stable enough." she says, looking towards the doctor for confirmation.

"Yes, Cassie. Unfortunately, we cannot take any of your kidneys. You are still in a bad condition." he says.

I look towards my mum, who pulls me into a hug. 

"Cassie- I'm going to deal with this." she whispers into my ear, before pulling out of the hug.

"Doctor- I'll donate both my kidneys." she says, confidently.

"What?! Mum! You're going to die if you don't have any kidneys!" I exclaim- looking at my mum in shock.

"Ma'am, be wise here. Without kidneys, your body won't function. You will die." the doctor adds.

"Cassie. It's the least I can do. Doctor, prepare for surgery." she says.

The doctor leaves, leaving just me and my mum. We are both dripping tears.

"Mum. It's fine. Honestly- don't." I say.

"Honey. It's the very least I can do to make up for all of the school shows, all the parent evenings, all the proms, all the graduations and just everything I've missed from your life." she lists. She probably feels terrible. 

"But mum-" I begin.

"Darling. I'm old anyways- I'm going to die soon. I've already passed the date the doctors expected me to live for." she interrupted. This was true. She has a tumour which was developing. 

"Mu-" I begin , only to be interrupted, once again.

"Think about it. If I die from this stupid tumour- there will be like no way of remembering me. If I give my kidneys to Ethan and Grayson, a piece of me will stay with you forever." she said, looking deep into my eyes.

This really convinced me. She genuinely cared for me. 

"Okay mum- if you really want to. Do it." I say, squeezing her hand.

Just at that moment, a nurse comes in and hands my mum the confirmation form. 

My mum signs it and hands it back. 

"We're going to take you to surgery now, ma'am." the nurse says.

My mum looks at me, and puts her hand into her pocket. She pulls out a charm bracelet, with a single charm on it. The charm was in the shape of a heart and said 'I'll always be with you. Stay strong.'. 

"It was from my mum when she died. Keep it safe." my mum tells me.

"Thanks mum. I'll never forget you." I say, as she pulls me into a hug.

"You better not!" she jokes, before hugging me again.

"Cassie- Promise me one thing." she begins.

"what?" I ask, wondering what she would want me to promise.

"Promise me you'll get married to Ethan." she says.

I smile at the thought and kiss her on the cheek saying "I promise."

My mum smiles and says,  "I love you Cassie." 

"I love you too, Mum. You're the best mum in the world." I say, as the nurse takes her out the door, and into surgery.

OH MY GOSH WE ARE ALMOST DONE AND I AM SO EXCITED!

SO MUCH HAPPENED IN THIS CHAPTER! i MADE IT LONG TO MAKE UP FOR NOT UPDATING :D
