Broken glass

By my feet

Fallen hope

No peace left 

This mirror glass

I tried to see my face

But all I saw

Was another girl

The girl in the looking glass. 

But who was it? 

I am at a loss

Who is that girl

Who smiles and laughs

And plays with friends?

Who is that girl

In the glass

Who looks beautiful 

And never worries?

Who is this girl

That I see 

Reflected in the mirror glass

Who lives with sunshine

And has never

Seen the shadows 

That are everywhere

I ever look? 

Who is that girl I see

Staring back

With bright eyes

Clear eyes that have never seen

The darkness and pain

That I know are in the world? 

Mirror glass on the wall

Shows me this girl

But I know not why

Tell me who is

The girl I see

In the looking glass?

The one with the happy life

That never fell apart

I see her smile

Her smile mocks me

As if she knows

What never was mine

That she has

The girl in the glass

Can jeer me no more

I break the glass

Shards of it fall

Around my feet

They cut my fingers

But I feel only the pain

From inside

The girl in the looking glass

Still mocks me

In several tiny pieces

She knows who I am

But I do not know her

Who is this girl in the looking glass?

Who is this pretty face I see?

Who is this happy child 

That never dated agony

And mocks me from the broken glass

And shards that lay around

I broke the girl in the looking glass

But she still haunts my home.
