I groaned and rolled over onto my side. A bell chiming and something pulling my hair made me blink my eyes open, and found myself lying on something furry, shooting up with a gasp at the sight of my strange surroundings. It was a bed. A fur-covered bed. "Where-?" I breathed, and looked around me. I blinked. Was I in The Hollow?
I draped my legs over the edge of the bed and noticed something tucked inside my boot. I reached down and slowly pulled it out, staring down at it as I did. It was the oval-shaped picture frame with that awful photo inside it. I clenched my eyes shut and balled my free hand into a fist. Sighing, I stood up and looked around for any sign of him. I know he had brought me here. There's no one else that would have.
"Peter?" I called, and a blur of yellow light flew in my face. "Tinkerbell," I spoke her name gently, and she smiled at me while curtsying. I gave her a small smile in return. "Do you know where Peter is?" Tinkerbell pointed to the stairs, and I glanced over at them before nodding at her gratefully and exited The Hollow.
Sunlight temporarily blinded me as I lifted my free hand to shade my eyes and looked around me for Peter. He was floating mid-air with his arms and legs crossed and staring out at nothing. I slowly walked up to him, still dressed in my Pirate outfit and held the picture frame to my chest. "Well," I said, and Peter snapped his head back around at me, "you got my attention." I waved the picture frame for emphasis and tossed it at him as he fumbled with it before gripping it firmly in his teenage hands.
"Where did you get this?" Peter snapped his head up in surprise, brown eyes wide, and I crossed my arms with a small shrug.
"Tinkerbell brought it to me," I said nonchalantly, and moved to sit on the edge of the cliff while staring out at the horizon. Peter floated down next to me, Tinkerbell flying out of The Hollow to rest on my shoulder comfortably.
"Her name was Iza," Peter finally spoke, and I didn't look at him. I just wanted him to talk. I wasn't going to say anything. "We first met right after I brought Jane back home to her brother and her mother, Wendy. She had been living with some Humans in New York at first--a nice couple who had taken her in when she was just a baby--but had moved to London once she was old enough to travel. At least, that's what she had told me. Although she had failed to mention that she possessed Magic." I blinked and bit down on my tongue to prevent myself from speaking up. He continued his story, "I offered to bring her to Neverland, and she agreed. Once we arrived, she didn't want to go back. I was fine with it at first, but then the longer she stayed here, I began to," he paused, and I knew what he was going to say next, "I began to fall in love with her." Tinkerbell twitched on my shoulder, and I bit my lip to stop from laughing. Everyone knew about Tinkerbell's crush on Peter. Except for Peter himself, of course.
Peter didn't seem to notice and just continued with his storytelling, "When I told her how I felt, she said she felt the same, and then-," he turned crimson and rubbed the back of his neck nervously, "Well, you know what happened next." I coughed uncomfortably. Peter cleared his throat. "We hadn't planned on you being born. In fact, it was against the law once we found out Iza's parentage." I raised an eyebrow at him, meaning for him to elaborate. He sighed. "The reason she was first living in New York was because of her mother. She was killed there, and I guess the last of her Magic gathered together and created a baby girl. That's how Iza was born."
I nodded, waiting for him to continue. "Once we found out who her mother had been, we knew we had done something wrong." He chuckled humorlessly. "It's not every day that the forces of Good and Evil pair up and give birth to a kid that's not even supposed to exist."
I coughed, not being able to help myself and spoke up this time, "You mean to say I was an accident?"
A pause. "Yes. An accident that could have gotten us both killed. That's why your mother, Iza, brought you to me right after you were born and asked me to send you away to a place where you would be safe. She couldn't fly, so I was left to drop you off at a home that would accept you with no questions asked. Once that was done, I returned to Neverland and found out your mother had left. I don't know where, and I'm not really sure why, but I knew she had used her inherited Magic to leave Neverland and go some place else." He bowed his head and mumbled quietly, "Some place far away from me."
I stared down at my hands that rested in my lap and fiddled with my fingers. "So who was Iza's mother?"
Peter peered up at me through his lashes and sighed. "She was the daughter of-"
A sudden loud cawing from above us cut off Peter's sentence, and we both looked up to see a fat red parrot flying overhead, and I frowned while getting to my feet. "What-"
"They're here," Peter flew up to chase after the bird, and I exchanged a worried look with Tinkerbell just as Peter flew back down to the ground beside me. "Hook and his crew are here. That bird was-," he shook his head, "Never mind. You have to go." Peter grabbed my wrist and dragged me back inside The Hollow.
I paused mid-step, pulling my arm out of his grasp. "I know I didn't believe you at first, but-," I trailed off and shook my head. "That photo just-," I growled in frustration, "I've just learned the truth, and I want to know more about you! I know that baby in the photo is me. It's obvious with my looks that match hers." I directed a finger at the woman holding me as a baby in the photo, now known as my mother, Iza. "I want to stay," I finally whispered, and Peter looked at me with remorse before flying over to me and mussing up my hair.
"You can't. You know you can't. Not with me, anyway. I can't keep you safe. Plus, the others can't find out you're my daughter. If they do, they'll have you killed." I gulped. Peter gave me a small smile as Tinkerbell flew off of my shoulder to float beside Peter.
I sighed. "Fine. I'll go back to Hook and Jay. But I plan on finding out more about the Disneyverse and not going back home. I hope you know that," I said with a smirk, and crossed my arms as Peter chuckled.
"I had a hunch. Now you better go before Hook gets here," Peter ushers me out the back way to where there was a safe path to travel on.
I turned back to face him and smiled. Then I pulled him in for a hug. "Thank you," I whispered, and he hugged me back before letting go just as swiftly.
"Now go on, or else you'll never leave here," Peter smiled and then took off, Tinkerbell coming up to peck my cheek before following after him. I smiled one last time at my real dad before taking off in a sprint down the path, rather surprised I could keep my balance in these heeled boots of mine.
I kept running until I heard voices and burst through some trees to find Jay, Captain Hook, and his Crew walking along the beach searching for me. I grinned. Was it possible for Pirates and a boy I barely knew to care about a stranger like me?
My answer?
"JAY!" I called, and ran out onto the sand as Jay spun around and smiled once he saw me. I launched myself into his arms as he held me close, and I buried my face in his neck. "You actually went out looking for me," I whispered, and didn't notice I was crying until Jay pulled away and wiped at my eyes.
"I never stopped," he whispered back, and I couldn't help but to blush at his words. Was it just me, or was that kinda cheesy?
I laughed and looked up at Captain Hook. "Thank you for coming after me, Captain Hook," I bowed my head at him, hoping he wouldn't try to go looking for Peter Pan, because I was rather sure I would fight against him if it came down to it.
"It was my pleasure, my dear," Captain Hook bowed in return and ordered his Crew back to the ship as me and Jay followed swiftly after them.
"So what happened?" Jay asked me, and I looked up at him.
I shrugged. "I gave Peter the ol' one-two and took off," I lied easily, and Jay smiled.
"Of course you would. I didn't think you were one for being the damsel in distress," he smirked, and I narrowed my eyes while playfully bumping my shoulder with his.
"You know it," I said confidently, and Jay laughed.
We were approaching the ship now and Jay went on board before me, allowing me to gaze out at Neverland one more time before we set sail. A small tug on my hair made me switch my gaze to the small ball of yellow light, and my dark blue eyes widened severely. "Tinkerbell, what are you doing here?" I whisper-yelled at her, and she merely flew down to my boot and tucked the oval picture frame inside it. I blinked. "Did Peter want me to have it?" Tinkerbell nodded and then made a flipping motion of the picture frame and scribbling something. I frowned. "He wrote something on the back of the picture for me?" I guessed, and Tinkerbell nodded enthusiastically with a grin before flying off back to The Hollow. I smiled.
"Emily, you coming?" Jay called down to me, and I hurried up the boardwalk to the ship.
"Yeah, sorry. I just never realized how beautiful this place was," I made up an excuse, and it wasn't a complete lie. Neverland was beautiful. Just in it's own odd way.
Jay smiled before turning away to walk back to his Uncle who was setting sail and steering the ship. I peered out over the ocean waters and wondered where we were headed to next. I then remembered the picture in my boot, and looked around to make sure no one was watching me before stealthily pulling it out. I stared down at the photo and flipped it over, doing what Tinkerbell had told me to do and slipped the photo out of the frame. The words scribbled on the back made my eyes widen. Are you kidding me!?
Iza was the daughter of the Evil Queen Narissa.
